How did you get to know about fela's music? Did you understand it? How did you enjoy it? How big was fela outside of nigeria....in the country you are from?
Fela for over 20 years has continued to blow my mind. A good friend of mine originally from Nigeria introduced me to his genius music. His mother lived at the compound.
@@richardtawiah2320 Dude .provide your evidence please. FELA was sent to England to study medicine in London .He changed to Music at Trinity College in England.
Had the honor & pleasure to meet in Portland Oregon in 1992 and he was extremely warm . Later in the mid 2000s we produced Femi and his band at our club in Eugene, Oregon. Fela will always be a hero,
I'm so glad I had the chance to attend his concerts when he was alive. It was wild. Different different spirits flying everywhere. It was an experience like none other.
His music is so unique.... different instruments..... sometimes like off tone but perfectly insane! He created his own key! And he did this in the 70s he’s just far ahead of his time
The godfather of Afrobeat. May God continue to bless you even in your grave, Fela I just want inform you that Afrobeat has won Burna Boy a Grammy award.
Burna Boy aint afrobeat.....it's watered down commercialized R and B......dude wears a giant gaudy chain.....fela wouldn't have been into dude's music..

Fula I met him personally in Lagos Nigeria in 1977. My theater group at the was Free Black Creativity Theatre. It consisted of children, youth , adults. We were fortunate enough to be selected by the Canadian Government to perform in Lagos Nigeria were I met Fula, Bob Marley and Stevie Wonder. It was a cerebral and emtional experience once in a Life Time. Fula music encompasses African, Jazz, Funk, Folk and CULTURAL DIVERSITY of many african drums. He has blended this beautiful music into a unique rhymic sound that touches the heart and soul of people with poetry dance motion and vocal sounds. Peronal friend Jay C. I'm Igbo, pro Igbo life and songs I love, but damn, I fucking love Fela, I jam to his songs everyday. How didn't ppl listen to his revelations then ? This man had everything, a lovely lively band, very organized group, I swear,I don't believe in them little boys singing nothing but all o want is your waist. I'm sorry,I don't. This was talent, this was epic, this is nigeria and this songs are what Nigerians need to be playing daily. You can't be living in the current nigeria, and be listening to Afro hip hop, dancing and jumping up,as if every every is perfect. Then you won't even have the thoughts of brain revolution !.
Nigeria owes this man a huge apology and compensation. He fought for the truth, equity, and justice for all Nigerian. He was an extra ordinary Yoruba man who never saw himself like a yoruba man but igbo man, Hausa man, Efik man, Nigerian Delta man, etc. There was no single tribalism in him, unlike his son Seun . Fela was a legend and stood on the truth until the Nigerian government took him out.
I wish i could attend the show.... Well actually I don't fancy crowd and concert ...but this man .... Can't you feel intensity ? Can't you feel passion ? Miss you Fela ! Thanks for sharing the video !
