'The Last Miner' by Joe Solo & The Hatfield Brigade ft Rebekah Findlay.
The song celebrates Durham Miners' Gala and is dedicated to everyone who makes that annual pilgrimage every July to raise the banners high and proud. The video was shot by Michael Lee Toas at the recording session at the historic NUM HQ in Barnsley.
Joe said: "I wanted to write a song, not just about the Big Meeting, but about the importance of keeping our history alive, proper history, Working Class history, through the traditions, the songs, and the stories. We don't get remembered like rich people do, we have to leave our footprints behind in different ways, so the struggles we fought live on to inspire the next generation."
Joe will perform on the main platform immediately after the speeches at the 2024 Durham Miners Gala on Saturday 13 July 2024. He will be joined by the Hatfield Brigade and Rebecca Findlay for the performance of The Last Miner.
