Queen Charlotte is definitely the best season of Bridgerton. Charlotte and George had the best overall story out of all the couples. I did not expect to get so emotional watching their love story.

Also your critiques about Eloise and Pen’s friendship is the same issue I had with Colin. I feel he also talks at Penelope. He doesn’t really talk to Penelope. Because we get to the end of the season and he’s like actually Pen you are a good writer! And it’s like sir you have stacks of her letters. How did you just notice this? Or when he came back from his first semester abroad, Penelope didn’t need to ask Colin what was going on with him because you know she’d read his letters. Meanwhile Colin’s clueless. Colin uses Penelope to make himself feel better about himself and then acts like a weirdo when he discovers that Penelope is actually that bad bitch in this house. Like both Eloise and Colin have issues with the fact that Penelope is that girl! That does not mean they don’t love Pen down! They very much do. They love Pen deeply, but it is also wrapped in the fact that Pen makes them feel good about themselves.
You know what, I’ll give Colin something because unlike Eloise, he says it straight up: he was envious of her. We got to the end of the season with 2 people pointing out to Eloise that she may be envious that Pen did something with Lady Whistledown and she still doesn’t admit it. But then she’s suddenly travelling to Scotland to do something about all the things she’s complaining about? If that doesn’t say seeing Penelope get off her as* and do something inspired you to do something yourself then I don’t know what else does. At least admit it to Pen’s face like Colin does.

@@birdiewolf3497 You know what, I agree to an extent. But I don’t want Colin grovelling. I wanted a direct apology from Colin for icing her out like that because he is envious of her. In the conversation in the study where she says that she doesn’t want him to be her saviour, she wants him to be her lover, I wanted him to apologise for icing her out for so long after saying he doesn’t know why he can’t move past the Lady Whistledown issue. Fine, have him figure it out at the end that it was one part due to having despised Lady Whistledown and the other part due to envy, but also have him apologise beforehand about icing her out for so long. Like for me, that could’ve fixed some of the issues I have with Colin. I still believe he loves that girl down, but he never apologised for his behaviour. Like he was giving petty, choosing to sleep on the couch just outside their room instead of the 20 other bedrooms they have, and I wanted him to say sorry I was so petty. Their relationship reminds me a lot about Derek and Meredith, the same envy that plays into their relationship like it does between Colin and Penelope. I would like to see how their relationship plays out moving forward, will that envy be turning into admiration like his speech? Will he permanently be holding his wife up to a pedestal like Penelope did for so long? I’m kinda interested to see it play out.
@@notevenfunny_ Oh the groveling was for before they got together. He spent the first two seasons basically ignoring her. I wanted a “pick me, choose me, love me” moment. Where Penelope still had options, so I wished we didn’t expose the coaching plot so soon. We could have just let it actually work. I wanted an acknowledgment that she has absolutely no reason to love him. That he was a bad friend and he was self centered, and that it was only when he was all but forced to pay attention to her for once that he realized how awesome she is and that he loves her.
Amanda dragging all the men in this series is the catharsis I never knew I needed. Cause damn, do I even like any of the men in this series? Love all the women down so I’m happy they get what they want in these men, but it couldn’t be me is all I’m saying

I felt like we didn’t get enough time with Penelope and Colin. I fell in love with Kate and Anthony because we grew with them; I saw no growth with Polin with this ensemble season.
Agreed. People keep blaming the side storylines for the lack of Polin screen time. But I think the new showrunner Jess Brownell didn’t know how to develop Colin and Polin and just added side storylines to fill up space.
Same, I think the show runners thought we wouldn’t care for Polin romance at the beginning of the season cause we have seen them develop in seasons 1/2 but they were mistaken
They had 2 more seasons then everyone else. But only as friends. And not as Lovers because they had way too many storylines going on and not enough episodes.
Yea...Like I've been watching their scene compilations (S1-S3) & edits, and I do believe that there is JUST enough to understand & really root for their story. And while I will defend their relationship over S1 any day of the week, even on first watch I immediately thought the writers/showrunner got lazy. S1&2 established a GREAT foundation (even with what he said at end of S2) for their transition to S3. I do believe that Colin's only remaining hurdle was the physical attraction, which was well setup with Pen's glow-up & getting other men's attention. The pieces were RIGHT THERE. And I guess they thought the pieces "being there" translated to "the puzzle is done."
They barely crossed the finish line (I do love all the Polin scenes, they are amazing actors, and will rewatch S3 for them alone) but man, they *could've* won by a LANDSLIDE!

The way season 3 diasaapointed me. I was wás so excited since these two have so muchhistory I was expecting lore, flash backs to their first meeting,flashbacks to first meeting eloise, flash blacks to how ladywhistledown first started. I was expecting a slow burn development of Colin slowly realising how he felt about Pen and a huge reaction filled with consequences when he found out her secret. Instead we got rushed feelings on Colin’s side, a carrraige scene by ep 4:and a rushed wedding and unnecessary side plots. The disappointment was real
When Penelope is pissed she goes straight to the pen made me LOL. She saw what she saw, and heard what she heard. No need to second guess it.
anthony has been saying since the beginning he’d wouldn’t love edwina & only wanted to marry her cause she was the diamond & it’ll fulfill his duties. kate told her anthony wouldn’t love her
I think edwina must have just been willfully ignorant, like she so badly wanted to secure the match of the season, which was what she had been trained to do her entire life, and it just wasn't clicking that the one person in her way was also the one person who wanted it the most for her, and had been training her her entire life
24:00 THANK YOU!! i so very much disagree with this thought process people have when an actor leaves a show to pursue other projects. they take it so personally and have this sense of entitlement over actors careers. "you could have stayed on the show and been financially secure but no you wanted to be ambitious and leave and now your absence is felt deeply." there should not be that much weight on their shoulders for the longevity and success of a show! and frankly, its up to the studios and writers to sort out their absence in the series. it's such a bleak and controlling attitude, when in reality it takes a lot of courage to walk away from something when it no longer feels fulfilling, or when it isn't the type of work you want to do. it's not ungrateful to do that. and besides, in rege-jean page's case his contract stated he'd be there for one season and they could have figured out what to do with his character afterwards and did nothing. not to mention how people already insult his acting and say he's just a pretty face - THEN WHY WOULD YOU WANT HIM TO STAY??
I totally agree, especially since its two YEARS since the last season. Writers just need to write into a dialogue that they moved somewhere or something and maybe have the characters 'write' a letter if needed. Trouble is they didnt do that with daphne and its not like her or the bridgertons to be absent from her siblings weddings.

I think the entire arc of Colin is that he was ridiculed for the person he was .before the Colin in previous seasons he’s always been shown as the sweet naive guy who trust to easily even Anthony talked about how he was to green or immature to make decisions for himself and said he regretted not taking him to brothels another example is when Eloise and the others of the ton were telling him he was boring or annoying and uninteresting when he talked about his travels he even admits that barely anyone besides Penelope responded to his letters. So in season 3 we see him come in with this new swagger and attitude because that’s what he was told he should be and that’s the only way other people specifically the men would respect him, so we see him kind of suffer from this imposter syndrome where no matter how hard he tries he still doesn’t feel confident in himself or feels like he fits in. I agree with you that he obviously loves and worships pen but I think the why is because she allows him to feel like he’s okay just being him without the facade or what he does for other people because not gonna lie Colin is very obviously a people pleaser he only feels valuable when he is doing something for someone else and Penelope just loves him regardless of everything
As for the “you do not count” comment I perceived it different because I’m biased for Colin but I thought of it as a you do not count as one of the women I sworn off because I hold you to dearly

Cressida was looking like a citizen of the capital in Hunger Games. Outside of the main characters & Mondrich’s family, the styling this season has been questionable for me. Her’s was the worst tho.
i agree - i don't think edwina is naive. to me, she's presented that way because the leads think she is, but she's perceptive. she just told herself differently. she chose to see what she wanted; what would help her get to sleep at night. idk when, but she caught on and noticed her role in all of this. i think she was shocked at the wedding bc all at once it was "oh my god it's actually real. my gut was right. it's the middle of the fucking ceremony. i'm ruined. he couldn't just do this or leave me before. he didn't even have the gall or restraint to be classy. and my SISTER?!"

1:42:15 To be fair it was a different time. The idea that you can SA someone you are married to does not compute. And why would it? Because then we’d have to address the systematic SA of women of that time. That’s just the undercurrent of Bridgerton no one wants to address. The show is very much, hey look these other couples (the women) are all miserable. Everyone seems to describe their husbands as cruel. Like you are saying cruel and I’m hearing forced/coercive intimacy. Also just a warning about Queen Charlotte. They do Lady Danbury so dirty. We were literally introduced to her as she was being assaulted by her husband and the show treated it like a joke. And you can certainly have words for Shonda because she wrote the entire show by herself.
But yeah, what Daphne did was 100% wrong. It was definitely assault. But no one in the show remotely capable of seeing that. And I do mean no one. So it’s just a mess. So it’s like she dead wrong, but she also learned about sex like 5 minutes ago, despite having sex. And lives in a society that consistently tells women that husbands/future husbands has a right to their bodies. So now she also developed an entitlement to his body. Weird how that happens.

Got braids on Monday, and the woman doing my hair was watching the third episode iirc of season 3 when I came in. I tried not to pay attention cause I've been planning to watch the show from the beginning, but eventually my curiosity won out and I saw like most of the rest of the season with zero context 😂. One of the first scenes I saw was the ball and I thought (and was hoping) Cressida and Eloise were gonna have a romantic subplot with the amount of chemistry they had. Then they went and made Eloise the worst friend ever, and Cressida the villain even tho her motivations made so much sense 😒. Like idk if they intended for me to care about her more than any other character this season but that's certainly what happened lmao
Eloise is selfish and self-centered Yes, Cressida was a bad person, but you chose to be her friend and left her high and dry in her time of need. The same way she,dropped Penelope because she tried to protect her from the wrath of Queen Charlotte.
lol Penelope’s attempt to protect Eloise was ass, and she went after not just Eloise, but her brother Colin (and could have ruined Marina if she wasn’t saved last minute) Eloise has every right to drop Penelope as a friend. And just bc you decide to befriend someone doesn’t mean you gotta stick with them after you realize they’re a bad person.

I wouldn’t say she’s selfish and self-centred that’s a bit harsh, she definitely has her moments but it can be understandable. With Cressida, it’s kind of complicated I wish they’d done more with their relationship in part 2 as I could somewhat understand Eloise not wanting to continue being friends with her but Cressida was also in a terrible situation. I think Eloise just didn’t understand truly how desperate Cressida was to get out of that situation and was willing to do anything. The situation with Penelope though is completely different, she had the right to be upset. Penelope had ruined Eloise’s reputation and as well had spread stuff about the Bridgerton family. Eloise wanted to know who Lady Whistledown truly was and all along it was her best friend, so Eloise definitely felt betrayed that it’d been under her nose all along. Yes Pen did try to protect her, but she did it in a cruel way and while she didn’t want to do it Eloise was allowed to still be mad.
