  • All BMW X5 Owners Need This Upgrade
    I got more than a little tired of changing out airbags for my suspension in my BMW X5, so I changed out to coils or springs. This does have some impacts to your X5, it's handling, it's suspension, and just the overall feel of your BMW. You'll also find out that there's a code issue, which I'll tell you all about in today's video.
    This is a #big #BMW #upgrade as far as I'm concerned.

    I wouldn't call it a upgrade, its actually a downgrade if you're towing a trailer. Normally when towing the self leveling suspension would compensate for the rear sagging and make the truck more stable. Also with the rear being squatted under load and not corrected by the air suspension it screws up the geometry of the front suspension and makes the steering feel a bit wonky when towing. If you never plan on putting a trailer on your X5 this is great, if you tow with your x5 then keep the air bags.

    For someone that can change the bags on itself and doesn't has to do it in a shop I would keep the bags, it's an easy job done fast, changed mine both sides in under 30 minutes... and buy oem bags, or Bilstein they will last longe those cheap eBay bags are junk.

    I just watched your review on this car/suv...not sure what to call it😊 but loved hearing how you still loved it after all these years and were open with the few things you didn't love as well.
    We just put a deposit on a 2012 BMW X5 xdrive 35D with, I believe, about 58,000 miles on it. Seems very fully loaded and in beautiful condition and after trading in our diesel Chevy Cruz our payment won't be too much more. We needed something that could tow a travel trailer hybrid thing (also new to us due to its crazy cheap price) because we doodads of volunteer disaster relief work and would prefer to have our own place to stay after a long day rebuilding homes, plus it helps keeps us and them safe..I have autoimmune illnesses that I have to be extra careful with.
    Anyway...I'm excited, but with any big purchase I also want to throw up 🤢🙄😬 I have NO clue how to best listen to music...im assuming mold ipod can connect to it but not sure how or how to control it. I'm hoping it had the manual as we also have no clue how to use that big button that seems to control everything. We love bmw and own an older car, though it'll probably just need to be parted out by now
    But it was before all the tech stuff in these. So amy ideas or help is much appreciated :) I'll keep searching for videos as well. But I do truly appreciate your info because you clearly love it, but you're also honest about some of the things you don't. Maybe you have one just dedicated to how to operate the inside stuff like music and that big button thing(don't know what its called) or hooking up external music and any other little things up there and how to best use it. I'm just nervous so I'm babbling and asking too many questions because now that this is actually happening and fast, I'm freaking out a bit :)
    So thanks for the help and any suggestions :)
    Thanks so much!!

    I changed my bags to springs. I had a navigator with horrible air bag issues, didn't want to go through that again. I've been very happy. I don't notice any difference in ride quality or handling. I do get an error message when I have passengers. Bmw says they can't fix that. Small price to pay for getting rid of those air bags.

    My BMW X5 kept switching to neutral while driving and I found that the engine had just shut off in the middle of the road. The bmw says parking break malfunction and service due soon but I doesn’t say anything about the neutral switch! I shut it off and turned it on again, engine had problem starting up but started to work fine then it happened again. I’ve tried to explain this to BMW and they think I’ve accidentally switched it while driving but that makes no sense because because you have to hit the brake and hold on unlock on the gear stick and move it to switch. Is this normal?

I have considered a twin turbo on the Lambo and I have a friend who has a turbo Gallardo and its bananas. He also tried a RWD conversion and a couple hard passes he peeled the driveshafts from too much torque so went back to awd. May look at that for sure.

    I installed B14 Bilstein suspension a few months ago in my E82 at only 30,000km. Not because there was anything wrong with the factory suspension. The Bilsteins lowered my car significantly & actually improved the ride quality while reducing bounce over bumps. I'm happy my car doesn't have fancy electronics, no navi, no power opening doors, no automatic, no fancy air or magnetic suspension, no autopilot...
    I appreciate simplicity & reliability more in this era of more electronics & complexity.

    • @ECPP
      @ECPP  4 роки тому

      Absolutely is a good trait for a vehicle nowadays. Especially considering the modern complexity of vehicles, simplicity means you can enjoy your car and sometimes it is actually more engaging and exciting to drive plus less dollars out of pocket.

    • @DigitalDissident
      @DigitalDissident 4 роки тому +1

      Right, because i'm sort of an enthusiast & my idea of fun is doin 250kph on the Autobahn. I realize this simplicity is not for everyone because there are people who want their car to do everything possible or they feel the need to lease the latest every few years. I try to buy what is the most fun for a reasonable price as I dont have a family either. If I had the money & my little coupe had way more miles on it those EV Tesla swaps or an M3 V8 swap would be in the cards next.

      I like the new a8 with the v8. Never another bmw after this one. I might not even buy another one of their motorcycles. Defect to Ducati.

      @@starshiptrooper1302 Show me an Audi that can compete with an E70 for this price point... or anything for that matter... New A8 competes with far superior cars as well so don't indicate your lack of refinement with an A8 and opt for a few year old flying spur or even a wraith if you can find one...
