Definitely listen to the theme songs of all the clubs. Also some of the logos you had were old ones, for example Sydney Swans (I'm a swan man) have a more modern one with the Swan in more detail. Really liked watching your AFL journey.
Listen to the team songs and history of the tdans. Personally you should pick Carlton because they have a rich history winning premierships and having some of the most exciting/skilled players in AFL/VFL history and were only ever terrible from 2001-2009 and 2014-2021. Last year they made the preliminary final after losing 7 games in a row and were looking at a bottom 4 finish (finishing 15-18th) at mid season but ended up winning the next 12 of 14 games, losing to Brisbane in Brisbane only because they were undefeated in Brisbane (Brisbane did not lose at home in 2023). Anyway if you want some games to react to, please say yes and I will link you some exciting games

Collingwood was the poorest part of Melbourne and everyone looked down on it, so how do you win respect just beat them on the footy field. They also have the oldest song (Team song very important in footy culture and sung in a team huddle by the winning team) and it is also the only one to mention its supporters. It's got to be Port Adelaide. The best choice. The club has an interesting history. The only club to earn a spot in the AFL based off a long, successful history in a different league. Has an exciting young list. Have been good in the last few years, without ultimate success, so you won't be a bandwagoner.
you should go for the lions, we have a great club culture, we're high scoring with the most exciting forward line and star players on every line, we're going to be pushing hard to win the flag this year. also we have great atmosphere at home games where each player has a song that plays when they kick a goal, the crowd really gets into singing along to some of them, especially take me home country roads for charlie cameron. don't feel bad for being mean to collingwood fans, they're fcking annoying and they deserve it🤭
Magpies are very smart. They can remember you after 20 years. They swoop on you in mating season and can injure you protecting their young. Don't underestimate them. Also are reigning premiers and have equal most premierships in history👍👍

If you like the original logo (it has since been updated but is still used in Retro gear) and you like the Melbourne Crest, the new logo might be up your alley as well because it's a similar design to your LA stuff. Port Adelaide also has a massive history. Also we have the best pre game tradition where all the fans sing in unison before every home game.
As a crows fan i cannot possibly support this sentiment ;) but have to agree that port or crows is a good pick if he wants to get polarising. Gotta be the most fierce rivalry in the AFL, and showdowns (port vs crows) make for the best games of the year in my opinion no matter how the year is going for each side. So many life long fans have been surrendering their memberships of late, saying this once proud club has become a bunch of "happy clappers" and exist "to win participation certificates".
Do some research into North Melbourne. As a supporter, we had a bit of success in the 70s and 90s but the 2000s and onwards have been rough. We nearly went bust a few times in the 2000s, nearly got relocated to Sydney, Gold Coast and Tassie. But we’ve always had a tough battler mindset shared by players and fans. Look into the history and the Shinboner spirit. Also, I’d say jump on us pretty soon cause we’re about a year or two off making finals now.

Thing about the Eagles: They were bottom of the tier this season just past, but 5 seasons ago (2018) they were champions (premiers). In total it was their fourth premiership since joining the league in the early 1990s, when the league changed from the Victroian Football League to the AFL. Prior to that expansion the game was almost entirely contained to the state of Victoria, where it started. For that reason, the Western Bulldogs aren't from the west of Australia. They're from western Victoria, which is a state on the south east of of Australia. Currently 10 teams come from Victoria, with 2 teams each of the other states: Western Australia: West Coast Eagles and Fremantle Dockers New South Wales: Sydney Swans and GWS Giants Queensland: Brisbane Lions and Gold Coast Suns South Australia: Adelaide Crows and Port Adelaide Power The island state of Tasmania doesn't have a team, although they have very recently been granted a team licence, so they should be forming one in the near future. Neither of Australia's territories (Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory) have teams in the AFL. Magpies are highly intelligent. They're also great songbirds and mimics, but also feircely territorial. It's actually a very good choice for an animal team. Plus birds are maybe more common because Australia lacks a large apex land predator, such as bears or indeed lions.
you have to check out the new swans logo! it still has the classic V but the swan is much bigger, the v is from the original jumper and and has stayed through in the logo as it moved from South Melbourne to Sydney. I'm very biased as my grandfather played for South Melbourne in front of thousands in the VFL when AFL was based in Victoria. Hope you pick swans. Go Bloods!!!
In Aussie rules, most people don't call the things the players wear a jersey or a guernsey or any other Channel island. They are jumpers. You bleed for the jumper.

They will swoop (ie attack) you if you're in their bad books. They also have perhaps the most beautiful (and definitely most Australian) call. That said...Collingwood...the supporter base may have a full set of teeth between them, a combined IQ of 100 and a criminal record a mile long!
Please go for the giants they are the newest team formed in 2012 and have not won a premiership. They are the best team to watch and have some great players and one of the best songs. They should be in premiership contention this year.
If you want to enjoy some actual regular success as a fan, you will do no bettter than the mighty Hawks. We are down at the moment, but that's only because the AFL has strong equalisation measures in place (our dominance in the 80s prompted these rules), and we had a recent glorious era where we won 3 in a row and 4 in 8 seasons. We have not gone a calendar decade without at least one premiership since the 1950s, no one else comes even close to this.
As a Collingwood fan I will do my best to educate. In 1892, the suburb of Collingwood formed their team to join the VFL, and its mascot being the Magpie was chosen as it is the most prevalent bird in Victoria Park, Collingwood's ancestral home ground. It has a reputation of being a grubby team, mostly due to the area of Collingwood being a blue-collar suburb, with a lot of the manual labour being done in these areas, much unlike its longest stranding rival being Carlton, being a white collar suburb. The Magpies, lovingly called the pies, hold league records for most Grand Final Premierships, (equal 16 with Carlton and Essendon) and are the only team in league history to win 4 flags in a row (1927-1930). Unfortunately, they have also lost the most, being 27. Despite being the most hated sports club in Australia, as of 2023, it also has the most members. The magpie is a ferocious bird, and you would do well to stop taking the piss out of them, because they are absolutely feral. They also have beef with port adelaide, because Ports SANFL jersey they used from 1902 has the black and white stripes with a bar over the chest, but they're original ones were like white with a blue and purple V. Great to see you getting into the Aussie Rules mate. I'm a Pies supporter myself. :) Magpies are very smart birds and can be very territorial. They have one of the most complex calls in the bird world and they are in abundance down in Aus. Lastly, as has been said already, it's worth listening to the club songs to help you pick a team.
