This is the first time I've EVER heard Day9 mention his dad.
All we've known up til now is that he wasn't around from when Sean was fairly young.
I always assumed they were estranged and that's why Sean never talked about him.
Really love how he looks into the camera for these stories, haha. Seems like an old friend somehow lame as it sounds

I live in Hong Kong, I can confirm - although, most cab drivers will bring back the phone if you can call it and they manage to answer (they'll expect a bit of a tip though).

I've done the same thing with my phone. Left it in the cab and realized a minute later. Tried calling myself, and instead of picking up, they hung up and the phone disappeared off the grid.

It seems a little strange to lose a phone in HK and not buy a new one while you're there. I'd have thought they'd be cheap and everywhere. Even just a budget prepaid in case you get lost or something. Hope everything is okay now.

I live in Hong Kong and I've lost a phone almost exactly as your situation, straight out of my pocket onto the back seat of a HK cab. It's a shame I didn't know you were heading to Hong Kong, we could have met up and I could show you around a bit!

I got my phone back in Hong Kong! They told me I'd never get it back but the taxi driver dropped it off at a nearby hotel.
You should always enable encryption and remote formatting on your phone. It will run a tiny bit slower, but it's worth it.

i'm not sure if this is true anymore but i remember hearing about property rights in some countries extend basically forever straight up and down so the buildings are small footprints but really really tall

People can really astound sometimes haha. Lost my phone in a taxi once, weeks later the taxi driver turns up and gives it back. Madness :'3

I'm surprised the concierge didn't mention that you can get a message sent to all the taxi drivers for a fee which says there's a reward ($1000 HKD) for returning the phone.

Once a few years ago I had just arrived in Beijing for an advanced Mandarin course at one of the universities there. For those of you familiar with Beijing, the University district in the Northwest of the city is quite far away from the airport in the Northeast. So I took a cab to get to my university, and cue the (in)famous Beijing traffic. So I spent a 2 hour drive staring at the taxi driver's ID plate thingy, and thanks to that I basically memorized his taxi ID number, his name and the taxi company he was associated with. As I got to the university, I saw a couple of my friends there already so I rushed to get out to meet them and my phone slipped out of my pocket. Like Day9, I realized this very soon afterward, but the taxi was gone. LUCKILY I had asked for a receipt, and on the receipt was a phone number. This was probably the most intense Mandarin experience I'd ever had as a 4th year learner of the language, trying to tell them that I had lost my phone on a taxi operated by Mr so-and-so who works for company X and has the ID 12345. Somehow after a series of phonecalls I managed to get a hold of the driver and asked him to come back, and after searching his car I found my phone under the passenger seat. I gave the driver a generous tip and breathed a sigh of relief. Moral of the story: when traveling on taxis try to remember the name and number of the driver and his car etc. It will help if you ever leave something behind! (Not guaranteed to help mind you, but gives you more of a chance)

I was supposed to go to HK today, but flight was delayed till Saturday....so my 14 day trip turned into 9.

so Day9 i have a question about a game i played last week i was playing a Feather the redeemed deck and my feather was on the board, my opponent cast Kaya's wrath and then cast Gods Willing and gave feather protection from black and it died to kaya' wrath is that what should have happened cause i gave it protection from black so it should have been alive right or am i wrong and thats not what protection does
It’s not quite how it works. Gods Willing only protects it from being targeted by that color spell, not from board clears. Feather will still die to it since it’s not being directly targeted. Made the same mistake back when I first started playing.

Wait...2019 and you say "new phone, I have no contacts"? Like..you still had your contacts locally on SIM and not on your Google/Apple account?
And yeah, 2-Factor authentication on everything, encrypt every device, use a VPN all the time (especially on Wi-Fi's you don't own), use a password manager etc. This isn't just for you though, but for anyone who happens to read, there's no excuse for not doing these basic things.

Anyone know if Day9 has ever talked about coping with balding? Could do with some of his positive energy to try and improve my outlook on it! :
You can halt and even reverse balding with the standard three product regimen prescribed by doctors regularly.
1mg finasteride (propecia oral pill) once daily
1mL minoxidil 5% (Rogaine) topical solution to the affected area twice daily
ketoconozole 2% shampoo twice weekly
To save money, I buy the 5mg finasteride pills and cut them into quarters (so technically 1.25mg/day), and ordered the kirkland brand minoxidil off amazon. I believe you may need a prescription for the finasteride and ketoconozole, but I live in Hong Kong so I haven't needed a prescription - elsewhere, you probably do. All three products help, but I believe the finasteride and minoxidil are most important. The ketoconozole has an anti androgen effect that is helpful in fighting baldness as well.
You can google these treatments to confirm for yourself. I highly recommend them as I've fully reversed my male pattern baldness with them.
He's mentioned many times that he will get implants or plugs or whatever they're called and has no interest in living bald.
Here's a tip to improve your outlook on it: It's just hair. Deal with it. Get a wig if you want hair badly enough.

@@ythuythu5047 Good question. Last time I got it from a pharmacy across the street from Times Square, but I just went to look yesterday and it has now turned into a Chinese medicine shop. So now I'll have to find a new place. It shouldn't be hard, as the 5mg pills are a normal dose for another condition. Which is why it's cheaper to buy that way, it's a normal treatment for a condition, whereas the 1mg pills are for the hair and seen as vanity. I last bought the 5mg pills in a box of 100 for HK$600.
Nonetheless, I will be buying another box within the next couple of days, so I can let you know where I find them if you'd like.
