Ray Peterson reaction, First time hearing Tell Laura I Love Her
I remember hearing this song when I was very little. The singer sounded very sad to me but I didn't know what the song was about. Oh my so sad😢
This is definitely a sad song for the ages. And this guy can definitely sing 🤩
Him saying "my love for her will never die", and that's what she hears going to the chappel. Not even death could separate his love for her.
So sad and lovely at the same time. They don't write songs like this anymore. And what a beautiful voice. A double banger reaction of course👌. Thought you was gonna reach for your blanket, I needed mine I must admit.😢
That ending part nearly got me not gonna lie! Powerful song. Thank you Rob for suggesting this one 🤩
@@SephPlays Thank you for your wonderful reaction, I'm very grateful.
@@SephPlaysI have a special fondness of songs that has lyrics with a meaning and hearing them is like watching a movie within. You seem to like songs with really good lyrics. If you want more songs with great lyrics that you can react to I'm up for it if you are. If not that's perfectly fine Seph.
So sad, she would rather have her Tommy than a stupid diamond 😪 you're right, what a voice!
You cant buy back a life 😢
This song reached #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Fun fact: it was briefly banned by the BBC because of fears it was an incitement to commit suicide.
... Wait! Why?
Ill add the streak to my list Kathi 📃😉
@@SephPlays As teenagers, we were all mesmerized by this song. The only connection I can see to suicide is that Tommy was looked upon as a hero. So maybe some teens who considered themselves nobodies would jump to the conclusion that they would be thought of as a hero if they were no longer alive. I love to try to analyze things, but I could be totally off. It was the BBC so maybe you can get in their heads easier than I can.
This was a crying song for me back then! Good memory!
Just found out, there's a couple of answer songs by Skeeter Davis amongst others, no need for a reaction but anyway. Would prefered a Romeo & Juliet ending.
Tell Tommy I Love Him &Tell Tommy I Miss Him.
funnily enough this song was banned here in the UK for a time because the BBC believed it would cause people to consider suicide!?
@@SephPlaysThat's the power of music. I've read a lot of storys where people told that when they were just going to take their own lives, then a Elvis gospel song was played on the radio and they changed their minds.
I understand that actually! Very much so!
What a twist on this one! And look at you with the race car knowledge!🏎
Based on on a real racing accident
Ray Peterson also sang The Wonder Of You the well known Elvis song in the 70's. But Ray sang it first. Read the first comment in the link, it says a lot about Ray and Elvis. ua-cam.com/video/vYYOFNeLZEg/v-deo.html Seph wish you would read the first comment, even if you don't listen/react to the song.
To avoid spoilers "You know how i am about spoliers haha" i wont listen to the actual song. But for you i will read them comments and get back to you here?
@@SephPlays The first most popular comment is enough to read, no spoiler.
What a sweet story! Just adds to his well known humbleness. Its not something you would hear a singer doing today!!
Can you imagine someone like Justin Bieber phoning up the orginal artist and asking to cover their song and if it was ok to do so.... 🤣
@@SephPlays That's the Elvis for ya I don't think anybody else did that even back then..
Never heard this version before. The Ricky Valence recording, which I prefer, was popular in the UK - I don't remember it being quite so dramatic.
Ohh there was a cover of this one?
@@SephPlays According to Wikipedia, Decca records initially decided not to release Ray Peterson's version in the UK because "it was too tasteless and vulgar". Ricky Valence, a Welsh singer, recorded it for EMI and it went to no. 1.
