Your videos about Jordan were all very good and full of knowledge about their culture and history. I've been there couple of years ago. Really appreciate it. Keep it coming!!
Again I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. Learning some of the culture, food and eating etiquette has given a whole new meaning to "sharing a meal" and "family style." Thank you Mark and Ying for all you do.
To all looking for a great vacation spot, go to Jordan. Beautiful country with the most hospitable people. Beautiful scenery and plenty to see. Very tourist freindly and well priced. Safe and clean is very important for me, so Jordan is perfect. Food is amazing. Everyone speaks English also.
well i mean some of them are assholes, but they're usually really chill and always crack good jokes. I live in Jordan, and it's a great place. I really love living in Jordan, and I'm proud to be from here.
glad that you were in my beautiful country :) and for people who were asking about eating mansaf by their hands, I'd like to say that it is only traditional habit, so it is not must to eat it by the hands, and actually only some of men and elderly people like to eat it in their hands and the ladies prefer to eat it by spoon :D btw eating by hands has health benefits Thank you +Mark Wiens for this beautiful serious in Jordan and kind regards:)
jaeger233 you are such an idiot!!! not touching the mouth is for an obvious reason, but clearly u r way dumb n have no common sense to figure it out!!! but ill explain n i hope ur ant size brain will comprehend: there is saliva in ur mouth, and since this is a group meal and people eat in the same dish, its good not to bring back saliva to the dish! and please stay in Finland dont u ever leave ;)
Thank you for visiting Jordan, best country ever. I miss Jordan so much. Thank you for showing the world the beautiful country of Jordan and the amazing culture and hospitality their people has. . Hope you enjoyed the food :) this video made me proud.
people are fighting over whether to use their hands or cutlery yet they dont write about how good the food looks and what this wonderful people invested in preparing it, i have gone to many good restaurants but the attention to detail in this restaurant is first class, i wish the restaurant staff and wien all the best.
i love the taste of arab food. i grew up eating those dishes and seeing you relish it makes me feel so happy. I esp enjoy your expression when u eat the first bite/morsel of any dish. i can keep watching it again n again...
My boyfriend is from Amman Jordan and I had mansaf its so good, I’m glad you made this video to show everyone else what there missing haha Jordanian food is the best
Jordan is such a beautiful and amazing place. I will definitely visit there one day. Thanks Mark & Ying for letting visit Jordan with you. The food is so mouth watering, Yummy.
+Seggi Armandi me tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Wow! What a feast! Food! The universal language! Jordan is beautiful, especially the spa! The people seem so warm and reserved. You are blessed to be invited to the family home. Such hospitality!
the array of technically cooked and nutritious meals really fired my appetite for Jordanian up! the national dish of Jordan is really something proud of.
I'm a Jordanian and i have to say u did a really good Job. Alot of people visit Jordan but they don't know what and where to eat. But u my friend discovered the most delicious dishes in Jordan. Thank you for the amazing Videos.
I visited Jordan in 2005 and had a wonderful time. Can't say I like mansaf that much, but I was very grateful to be invited to our friends' home and try this famous dish! Fortunately as a woman I was not expected to attempt the barehanded eating--I think that would have been a disaster! Love this video series--I want to go back!
Eating food with your hand has a great value, to feel the food, appreciate it and cherish this gift and blessing from God. it will bring you closer to ground and be humble, to remember you are part of this planet and not to be arrogant because you are intelligent human species. Sharing food with your guest on the same dish and feeding him is a gesture of trust, friendship and love. These are the Arabic values.
I have been in Jordan for a few years and yet your videos have made me appreciate and grow a fresh appreciation for the culture and especially the food here thanks
Satiety (feeling full and satisfied), does not only depend on amount of food that passes your throat.. But also on the satisfaction from good taste working on mouth and tongue receptors, and the skin receptors in the hand, from food touching.. This is why eating with hands is more satisfying. This is scientific physiological fact.
I finally subscribed to one of the best entertainers. I've enjoyed your videos to the fullest and I diligently intend to continue enjoying them. Many thanks.
You went to Hashims! Your hitting all the right places. FYI even if I've recently eaten, every time I watch one of your Jordan videos I got hungry! All this to say great videos and thank you for showing my Jordan and reminding me how much I miss being back there with family!
I would go to Jordan just to see that tour guide, he was gorgeous. I would love to visit Jordan, looks like an amazing place, I would love to go to most places I watch Mark visit. I love watching them get so involved in other people's culture and the way they live. I think that is what is special about these uploads, it's not just showing you food and different parts of the world it is showing you culture and more often food and culture are interwoven.
YESSS!!!! Ive been waiting for a mansaf video from your jordan travels... and its finally HERE!!! I really want to make a big batch of it right now and eat it with my hands looool
im from jordan ,some people ball the rice up , but my family use spoon , much better , balling up rice is traditional , however i prefer spoon nice video btw
Some people on this earth are cursed, they will never understood the nature and they will never knows the greatness of nature, they will remain cursed ,and......
In Mauritania it’s the same, sometimes they use a spoon or they ball it up, personally balling it has a different feel and taste to it that makes it better
You just won a loyal subscriber ! may Allah bless you my brother , and your always welcome to jordan ! I always believe that my country deserves a chance to visit , Your all welcome my brothers and sisters 🇯🇴
It’s not hard to make it’s one of those meals you can cook from home just go to your local Arabic store and get Jameed and all you need is rice and lamb or chicken
Certainly one of the most interesting travelogue I've seen in a while. Would have never thought Jordan to be so beautiful, and the food looks absolutely amazing. I doubt very seriously if I could find Jordanian food here in San Francisco to match the level of preparation you're having.
I like how there's always a lot of fruits+nuts served. I almost never eat healthy; but that combo sounds v cool. I bet that's how royalty ate back in the day..lots of fruits & nuts.
I was born in Amman Jordan in 1941 and my ancestors are all Jordanians, born and raised east of the river in the city of Salt. They eat mansaf by hand as described. That was because of necessity because people of the desert don’t carry spoons or they did not have enough for every one. They then followed the Bedouin habits and started calling it a tradition. I personally never ate my favorite dish with my hand but almost every one around me did. To every one his or her choice. I don’t consider eating with one’s hand is essential to enjoy that beautiful dish.
Your Jordanian trip has been an excellent introduction to me of the regional foods of the area. Most of us westerners had no idea of what the food would be like and I have watched, fascinated as you devoured it all. It is very interesting to see an Asians view of this food. Well done Mark. What's next?😋
Mark weins you are one special youtuber how at the end of the video you thank every individual who fed you and treated you.. thats one attribute of yours what attracted me to ur video
😭 that looks way too delicious!!! I don't think I would be able to do the whole process of making it into a ball before eating. I'd probably fail epically.
I would like to shed some light on some of the info said in this video about Mansaf. Most Jordanian nowadays cook Mansaf at home once a week particularly on Friday. They usually cook it using cow yogurt , and occasionally using lamb yogurt, and rarely goat yogurt. This is due to availability and price. Many Jordanians nowadays mix yogurt with a small portion of liquid Jameed manufactured by many companies and can be found in almost all grocery stores. One popular manufacturer for liquid Jameed is Al-Kaseeh. At home, most Jordanian eat Mansaf by a spoon. Only in big occasions, like weddings, Mansaf is eaten by hands which must be washed thoroughly before eating.
Wow! You're whole Jordanian series has been very interesting and really enjoyable. I do have to atop watching your vids late in the evening though as i always end up going to bed very hungry! I'm going to find some local Jordanian restaurants in London next week....i have try this cuisine for myself. Thanks Mark.
u did it right with the mansaf markie--i jz can't help laughing bout how u doin it--and u never fail! ..and am amazed on how u eat those foreign foods!
At the risk of getting hammered for saying this. You don't need to eat Mansaf with your bare hands. Sorry folks, but I've always refused to get peer pressured or bullied into eating any rice dish with my bare hands. I am from the region, and this whole argument that Mansaf could only be enjoyed eaten this way is a sad fable. It's pure macho b.s. culture. Rest assured there is no shame in using cutlery, it does not diminish one's manliness nor does it offend your hosts. Don't let anyone out there tell you otherwise. Period.
+Sam I'm willing to bet your own parents do not eat Mansaf with their hands, the reemergence of eating certain rice dishes barehanded started only a few years ago. Every culture in the universe has moved on from once eating with their bare hands to using cutlery or chopsticks or what have you thanks to the industrial revolution and the ability to mass produce cutlery at low cost for consumers. It's only in the Middle East and for the last thirty years or so under the influence of some religious nutbags bankrolled by our southern neighbors that we are moving full steam backwards, justifying the resurgence of eating rice like neanderthals with unfounded religious b.s stories. Even apes and chimps break branches off of treas and create tools to eat with. Mohammad the prophet of Islam was obsessed with hygiene and cleanliness, if the availability of cutlery was wide spread back then, he'd be the first to incorporate it into his eating habits. Get over yourself man, you prefer eating rice with your hands, good for you, no one is judging you, but don't expect others to buy into the fantasy that eating rice barehanded is a cultural norm, it might be for those stuck in the stone ages or too intimidated to use cutlery.
Need someone to teach you how to properly eat Mansaf. We only eat mansaf with the fingers without messing the rest of the back of the hand and we never lick our fingers. It an art which we treasure.
Just shows how do much alike cultures are in their differences! So many cultures have the hand eating/sharing communal style. Those that scorn forget that these people tend to be a whole lot healthier than most in the world.

Hahaha so many people getting butthurt over Mark eating with his hands. Say whatever you want but sometimes eating with your hands is fun af.
Eating together with hands, single center platter and licking your fingers afterwards....... Perfect Arab way, full of blessings.
I love eating with my bare hands, especially my Indian food. This is how I would eat my biryani with raita and raw onions!!! Yum 👅
I was born in Amman Jordan in 1941 and my ancestors are all Jordanians, born and raised east of the river in the city of Salt. They eat mansaf by hand as described.
