- In this video, Wyatt & Dad Founder, Ricky Wyatt will be converting a pair of brand new Thorogood Moc Toe work boots into a rugged, ready-for-anything Logger! While doing so, he gives a crash course on how the Wyatt & Dad saga began and what's next for him and the cobbler industry. Get ready for a masterclass on craft!!!
“YEAH, BUT YOUR SCIENTISTS WERE SO PREOCCUPIED WITH WHETHER OR NOT THEY COULD THAT THEY DIDN’T STOP TO THINK IF THEY SHOULD.” -Jeff Goldblum, Jurassic Park
i can barely tie my shoes and yet i watch these incredible craftsmen with rapt attention. and as a North Carolinian love knowing you all are local. many thanks!
With me I was able to tie my shoes better when I reduced my belly size...it used to be a real chore
Hell Yes! Thanks for sharing Ricky's story. What a foundation for your company! To the next generation... cheers!
No silly sneaker sole…what a wonderful boot it has become! ❤
Getting my mocs swapped for a better outdoor tread. Im a bit nervous they wont feel as comfy and nice but the soft soles got thrasher after 1 year. I need some longevity snd traction. Great video 👍
That looks 1,000% better than the original foam one. I must say I am not a fan of how those look AT ALL. You guys improved that boot to its full potential!
As someone who wears Thorogood boots for 8-10.5 hour shifts on concrete floors, I can tell you that the wedge sole is much more comfortable that the ones he put on. That’s one reason why so many people like this particular boot.
@@bluegrassman3040 he probably would wear them to the coffee shop
@@edrader maybe so.
Awesome talent
thank you for doing this video
I didn't think I was gonna like these shoes, but they came out beautiful!
Just bought my first pair of Thorogood boots. Great not for the price. I wish I hadn't purchased the comp toe design and would love to have them converted into a moc toe style. Not a shoe repair business in my area that has a cobbler willing to do the work.
Would love for these folks to take on my project.
Awesome video. Love the mutual respect cobblers have for each other. As a Wyatt and Dad customer (two re-crafts and counting), I can’t say enough about Cobbler Tony and Cobbler Tobias. Their work is top notch. Thanks for sharing your trip with us!
Thanks!
I really enjoyed this video it's good to see some solid craftsmanship going into them boots very nice
Wow. I had no idea you guys were in Winston, I live in Colfax NC! Super awesome to know!
Just around the corner
Great work. Those are sharp. Look way better after the resole.
That. Look. Bad. Ass. Nice. Job. I. Subscibed
That's a sweet look for those mocs!
You guys are awesome. Those boots. Nothing like that in the UK
Thanks! Check out CobblerG. He’s in the UK. He has a channel also
Love the history behind your business and love the quality craftmanship. Thanks for sharing and good luck out there on the lake!
Certainly a pair of boots that I would buy.
I just found your videos and I gotta say, I LOVE the content. watching y'all work leather is therapeutic, and it really reminds me of the days of sitting in my grandpa's garage, watching him build stuff. thank you for that.
when my boots are ready for work, you'll get my work, guaranteed.
People like to talk about themselves. You just repair shoes dude chill out. The money spent on this pair of boots is equal to just buying a handmade Pacific Northwest boot like a nicks. It’ll have way better leather and materials as well
Idk why someone would buy one with the wedge sole then have it changed to a sole with a 90 degree heel, especially when Thorogood already offers such.
NICE VIDEO GUYS.
Awesome recraft... and give thanks for the lil' history of W&DCC. BIG UPs!
I really really admire the craftsmanship of thisI can admire your skill but not the brand. Please I’m not being offensive to you nor your impeccable skills but
I’ve owned two pairs of Thorogoods. A pair of ‘57 Flyways and a pair of Midnights and I’ll say one thing, I wouldn’t have even spent the money on a resole for either of them. The leather on both broke down rather quickly and though comfortable at first but it became apparent rather quickly that they were just another disposable boot brand.
It was awesome to hear from Ricky how the business got started. The boots look amazing. Ricky passing the torch onto his brother, Tony at the end of the video was a nice touch. Pulled at the heartstrings for sure. Thanks so much for sharing your story with us.
Happy that yall are my local cobbler! Makes me look forward to wearing out soles.
As you probably know, the tongue is very wide. Any recommendations?
Wet them heavily with conditioner just as you are putting them on. This will help you mold the tongue, typically in one day.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany thank you very much.
Outstanding. It hurts my cheap side to see new soles removed. Thorodood is my everyday boot. I get them because they do not take months to break in. I like wedge soles because I'm old, and that seems easiest on my feet. Everyone has different needs and preferences. It takes guys like you to give people that. The thick midsole is awesome. Finished product is just a good looking boot. So nice.
Thorogood altough they have great soles. Refuse to do the right thing and use leather welts and midsoles. So all their boots are cracked from the factory.
Same. I would have worn through that sole and then replaced it as well.
@@HeritageCastI’ve got a pair of Thorogood boots I’ve worn for over two years and never had any problems with the welt or anything. I bought a new pair recently and use my old ones at home.
I couldn't care less about those boots. But listening to the narrative about his career, the pride in craft, was worth every penny.
I have the same boots in crazyhorse color with the Max 90 Tread already kind of a logger style
man I'd love a pair of thorogoods with a heel like that.. Never a big fan of the wedge soles.
They have a whole line of 1957s with a lug sole. But be aware Thorogood uses syntheic midsoles and welts which come precracked from the factory. So buy a factory seconds and get some custom made. And for the waterproof version get a leather counter added at the same time.
Just went from comfortable to uncomfortable
Not according to a lot of our customers that do this transformation
The wedge sole is what you need if your on concrete floors for several hours a shift.
@@bluegrassman3040 agreed 👍
Carolina boots way better and comfortable boots
very nice boot recrafting! any idea what each boot weighed when “loggered”? would be great for Harley touring!👍😎
We didn’t think to weigh them for the difference.
We all agree what a waste of time and energy perfectly fine new boots
Outstanding im glad someone else had my idea. I bought three Thorogood 1957s in a row and all had cracked midsoles from the factory. And so I am going to recraft the fourth 1957 and make it the right way.
Like Ricky Wyatt said " if the job is worth it, then do it right ". Thorogood isnt making them right with synthetic construction and it shows..
Do not operate without eye protection. Hah!
Outstanding craftsmanship
I want! So Bad Azz! I would so love to wear these while riding my Harley. Just purchased a pair of black Iron Rangers, otherwise I’d try sourcing a pair of these to have resoled with the thick stained leather midsole, and black 100 lug sole. These are the best looking Thorogoods I’ve ever seen. And I love the traditional tan and white wedge sole. Nice job! 😃👍
con la suela original se ven mejor
Tony just finished the boots because he was missing the camera time. I refuse to believe any other explanation.
🤣🤣🤣
I 100% agree with he's comment about people like quality & appreciate it. These guys are the best of the best in my eyes!!
How much for a transformation like this?
@@dalemyers429 this particular job was $210
Looks like their Flyway boot but I didn’t think they came with the crepe sole. Nice finish product.
What soles did you put on? I think I missed the name when i watched. Those came out really nice.
The Vibram 100 soles and heels
I want a pair.....what do I have to do to get them?
We did 24 pair for www.midwestboots.com
They may still have some for sale. If not, once you get a pair of boots you want done this way, go to our website and purchase the logger package with thick leather midsoles and follow the shipping instructions.
Thanks

Nice work
Those look awesome!!!
These are amazing! Well done!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Hey guys, I have the same pair of Thorogood boots as in this video, can I send them to you? I want the exact sam job done! Wow they look great!
You definitely can! Our shipping address is:
Wyatt and Dad Cobbler Company
3911 Country Club Rd
Winston Salem, NC 27104
Include contact information in the package.
Thanks
Get the a new welt if you can cause synthethic welts suck.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany Thank You guys, I will get them out to you soon, thanks again.
Midsole is a little too thick for my taste but overall looks pretty good
They asked for the thick midsole. Our standard midsole is almost half that thick
Dang that looks good. I have some tobacco ones that the sole is coming undone on so I may want to go this route for my resole!
Hey I just found you and I want to say that your editing and overall vibe of the videos is on point. Keep up the good work
Where's the 'add to cart' button.

Looks great... How much something like that cost..
That particular job was $210.
Take my Money! Absolutely Beautiful!
First thing I would have changed is that welt. It's like a mechanic changing out the timing belt but not the water pump at the same time.
Agreed. The plastic welts should have been replaced. However, the customer didn’t want to do that.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany I guess the customer is always right can't argue with that I guess. obviously other than that you guys did a nice job.
Curious how much that recraft costs…

What a wonderful family story and heritage! I can’t believe how beautiful and different the boots look with the Vibram sole, excellent job! May I ask, what grit sand paper did you use on the finished welts? What was the brown dressing product applied? My old Red Wings could really use a good clean up. Thank you sir!😎
Thanks! 80 grit. Fiebings brown edge dressing
I need to send in my Irish setter wing shooters for that logger package! Those look great!
What’s the cost for something like that
This job was: $190
I love the story. Keep the craft alive! Subscribed.
How do one find a good teacher like these fine gentleman? Been trying to learn from a few Cobblers here in NYC but most are not interested or too busy
Unfortunately, that is a problem throughout the industry. Most cobblers enjoy their artistic ways, but either don’t want to or don’t know how to teach. It’s rare to find one with the ability to teach. That’s why we changed the format of our videos. We started by just trying to be entertaining. We found a need to share how we do things, so we started making our videos about how it done. Hopefully it helps someone.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompanythank you!!
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed the history.
Don't all the Thorogood's have a synthetic welt? Or was this one leather? If you're tearing it down that far, may as well replace with a good leather welt.
It was a plastic welt. The customer dictates whether they get new welts or not.
Someday, when my Solovair 8 eye derbys wear out the sole, I want to have them do this to them. That thick leather midsole and heel combo looks great!!
We will be ready whenever you are
Thanks!
I would definitely buy these .
Ok, now you gave me ideas for my next pair of Thorogoods. How much does a resole like this go for?
This job was $200. Some Thorogood’s need new welts. That runs $80
Thanks!
Would you guys blake sew trough the gemming and insole to attach a 2mm leather insole to a fibre board insole ?
No, that is definitely not something that we recommend doing.
Well done. Good looking boot.
I agree they do look much cooler.
I have a pair of whites moc toe that I would love to get the same done. How can I contact you for pricing and how to mail them?
You can email us at : info@professionalcobblers.com

Thanks!
Amazing job!! Are those black leather, or is that just the camera ???
They were a dark brown.
Total recraft or a resole?
Since the boots originally come with a cushion sole and a rubber midsole, the cork was replaced, and a completely different style of boot emerged, recraft.
They look great! I would like to get more info on having a pair made like these.
WyattandDad.com can help you find the package and prices. If you have questions, you can email us at wyattndad@gmail.com
Thanks
Love the way those turned out!
Another quality job… That’s why I sent my boots to you guys. 👍🏻
did you check ALL their boots for cracks? That's what I thought...
Fantastic content 👌 👏 👍
What does this package cost?
$180 with original welts
$260 with new welts
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany thank you. When I need a resole I’ll bring my pair in.
Beautiful job on those!
Great looking boots
Looks great.
Nice work.
Amazing.
The BEST!!!!!!!
I'm kind of surprised at how easily the outsole came off.
That’s the difference in experience vs inexperienced, not the bond of the sole. We did 24 pair for a company. The newer guys were fighting the soles and talking about how hard they were to get off. Ricky would grab them and pull them right off. It would aggravate the new guys so much. Lol
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany haha! Good to hear! I once pulled white Christys off a pair, and it pulled the midsole apart one one. Needed to sand off the white chunks off the other one. I don't know what kind of cement was used, but it was tough.
Love it
Now that is a boot! Those Christy soles are an abomination IMHO. If that white sole is your style I would suggest the Gloxi sole over the Christy any day. Just an opinion...
The Gloxi is nice! Unfortunately, Vibram discontinued them in the US market before they had a chance to get known
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany Boo!
I am doing a double christy and lug double sole design. Where you shave down the wedge and add lugs. This Thorogood 1957 is going to be JUICY and THICCC...
Wait if I watched correctly you kept the Synthetic welt? Honestly they are garbage.
We offer new welts for everyone. Not everyone wants to buy new welts.
They look so much better like this !
Time 18:08 the cork doesn't look like such a great job. Just saying!! I'd be disappointed to be honest!!
Not sure what you mean. The video is only 18:08 long. The end of the video doesn’t show the cork. As for our end, all cork was replaced. The only shot seen is where he is tearing away excess with his hands just before sanding it to fit the cavity properly. 🤷🏻♂️
I really love the idea of shoe color customization. Just like buying a Harley Davidson And customizing it for your own home. Tailored to your needs or desires. It makes a lot of sense your feet are very important the foundation I’m getting around even the common man needs to stop buying cheap stop specially nowadays and buy shoes or boots that I rebuildable. America needs to get back to these basics. With the families and building wealth through long-term thinking. That’s all the elites do it with their families to even those evil summer and maybe they still think of their families. They got us to forget about our families and big of ourselves maybe we should do that starting with her shoes
Almost a crime to do that to a brand new pair of Thorogoods. Do you do flat re sole heavy duty?
I don’t understand the question.
Thanks
