"It's so HEAVY. Heavier than a lot of the stuff they do."
Man, people really sleep on 10,000 Days. That album goes HARD.
Rosetta stoned is fucking amazing.
its been my favorite album since the moment it was released.
Agreed... favourite Tool album, which is weird because it's really Adam's album and I'm a bass player (obviously Justin slays on it but Adam is front and center on it)
i call it 10,000 kickdrums, lovingly.
agree
This isn’t a live video. The uploader just took the song “Jambi” and added effects to make it sound live. He did such a miraculous job and it’s hard to notice.
I was gonna say. Tool doesn’t release officially recorded live stuff often. If they did I want it.
Fooled me the first time I watched it
@@gary_payton It fooled me long ago too!
Really? First time hearing that. If true the guy did an awesome job of it. Thanks for the info.
It's obviously the studio sound.
I really want to see her reaction to maynards scream in the grudge.
Grudge, and I'd like to see her review The Patient.
Or Jimmy
x 4
1000 times THIS! Don't care that this comment is a year late. Maynard's scream in that song instantly hypes my shit every damn time.
Ticks and Leaches ,,,, he can't even do that scream any more.
Video by video, I'm slowly watching her turn in to a Tool fan. I love it.
TheGuyATX the first hits free lol
and every other vocal coach video haha
Beth... you have fallen into the MJK rabbit hole. Welcome!
Once you go MJK you never stop.
@@x46andtwo ps. Ugly Casanova is a great band! Love Isaac Brock!!!
I love it! 😅
Just react to every Tool song, they're all so infinitely good
haha she'll be busy for years. Not a bad thing.
I'd watch that playlist.
This.
Praise KEK.

Adam Jones, the guitarist is using a "talk box" on his guitar solo. The pitch of the guitar is controlled by your voice because the guitar is feed into the microphone through a big tube.
A talk box doesn't effect the pitch at all; that's still determined by whatever note(s) you're playing on the guitar. What it does do is effect the overall shape of the sound, i.e. the harmonic content.
@SilverburstGamer I know what it is; myself and Micky were discussing what it *does*, i.e. how it effects the sound.
as a matter of a fact all 3 are mother fucking wrong. I, Tyler Durden, only I know.
The talk box feeds the guitar sound into his mouth via a small(ish) tube. Adam uses his mouth as a filter, and the output from his mouth is what we hear through the microphone. If you think about it, our mouth really is a formant filter that shapes the sound output from our throats to form or shape our words when we speak, or sing. The nose and sinuses and other resonances are also a part of how we sound, but for the talk box (the effect Adam uses in the video), it is using the mouth as a filter to shape the sound that is the most significant.
@SilverburstGamer well I'm not about to disassemble my Heil talk box... but the way you're describing it is more akin to what it actually does and the way it works. I've had one for 25 years and I still don't know how it works but I love it. I know how to use it that's about it LOL
Maynard doesn't have stage fright, it's just his latest persona, its about the music not the giver!
Actually, it's well documented that he hates stage lights, both because of the glare and he thinks the focus should be on the music and that the lights draw the focus away from the music too much. The vast majority of their shows are not in the open like that Sober video, but I've never seen them in a concert that was in daylight where he shied away from the audience.
Regarding the vocal effect, it's just a device called a talkbox so its a little of both. It's a guitar pedal with a speaker on it and the tube covers the whole speaker and goes up to the guitar player's mic stand. If he puts his mouth around it, he cuts off the audio, but if you partially open your mouth while holding it, it creates that effect. Mouthing 'wow' ends up making the wah pedal sound, though its not limited to that effect like a wah pedal is. Really interesting effect pedal (I own one). You can also find that effect in Man in the Box by Alice in Chains and It's My Life by Bon Jovi among a few others.
@@mph8er Talk Box always makes me think of Frampton Comes Alive, where he sings with the effect.
Maynard stopped being in front for the Lateralus tours in 2001. When I saw Tool in 1996, 1997 and 1999 for the Aenima tours he was up front and in costume.
He's in the back so he doesn't get bum rushed by fans.
mph8er it’s a joke mate
Maynard doesn't have stage fright. He's shifting focus from himself to the music as a whole.
I've listened to this song enough times to recognize that this is the studio recording.
Agreed this is not a live recording
Yeah I agree. It was too perfect.
I'd love to believe it wasn't the studio version though.
You can note that at first listening
Niall Lomas absolutely the studio version.
Jambi was the first song they played when I saw them in concert and it was awesome. The lights were still on, roadies were tuning sound equipment and shit, crowd was just talking, then out of nowhere lights out band is playing. Best start of a concert by far. We never even noticed them take stage.
saw them march 15 and we didnt notice them take stage either
Same. When I went, the opening band didn't show up. A half hour after they were supposed to begin, the lights just went out and this started playing. The lights didn't come on until halfway through the song. So badass.
Seeing Tool live was the greatest experience I've ever had. Maynard is such an incredible musician.
At 70k views in 3 days it's safe to say Tool is a winning react!
This is actually studio track (with a reverb) synced with video from live performance.
chaos yeah that makes sense, a little too good for live
Yep. That voice box guitar solo is a dead giveaway - almost impossible to replicated perfectly live.
chaos I don’t go to live shows to hear the record, I go to enjoy the mistakes! Lol
chaos yea the songs are the same but the mistakes are totally original 🤣🤣
@@TheEdgerox You probably misunderstood me. Someone created that video. Tool never use playback lol
The guitar solo is done using a Talk Box, so you were essentially right, it's a combination of guitar and mouth shape to produce that sound :)
Same effect as Peter Frampton made famous
If I’m not mistaken, Adam called Peter Frampton to ask him for advice on how to best use it.
DropTheHammer Adam called Joe Walsh, not Frampton.
FretboardNomad oh shit that’s right! Well, I was mistaken. Haha!
hi fren
I’d like to hear you react to Maynard singing “The Pot”
Agreed.
I would like to hear her sing it! It's in a weirdly feminine register and sounds super eerie when a woman sings it.
@@eddominates he sings it down a key these days to be able to pitch it... when I saw them in Berlin back in 2019 they opened with Aenema straight into it and it was monstrous in the best way
@@Skippymoogoose90 last time I saw them 2019 Los Angeles it was the same. It was weird at first but the song actually hits a little heavier in that lower key. You just have to try not to sing along haha
@@eddominates also consider they all tuned to a slightly adjusted hz for all of 10,000 days... meaning it's all slightly off to a standard tuned guitar (not a different tuning, tuning to a different hz as the base, hope that make sense)
Animal Collective did similar on Feels...it's all tuned to a slightly off piano in the studio.
Makes the records sound unique and just a bit weird
Damn, it looks like TOOL and Alice in Chains fans are running this now! Great as always, Beth. I recommend "Jesus Christ Pose" by Soundgarden
Dahua Johnson no
No. Slaves and bulldozers is better.
@@jeffsmith-kr9cc I'm with you on this one. "Slaves and Bulldozers" by Soundgarden shows Cornell's range a hell of a lot more, and it's pretty amazing.
I believe I can say we, TOOL and AIC, fans are not separate entities, rather than a shared collective as whole. The musical/vocal talents and heaviness lends so well to a melding of the group.
PLEASE respond to Tool's "Right In Two"....It is an Absolute MASTERPIECE!!
Youre not wrong but i dont think the vocal coach reacting to what is more of a drum feature is a great idea
yes please do this!!!
it's the most Epic of songs...
Maynard’s best voice doesn’t come out in Tool songs, imo. Puscifer tends to have better voice quality and range. Tool is built around instrumental music. They say instrumental stuff tends to be more powerful than voice, idk where I read that. I still think Maynard is one of the most talented singers to live but Tool doesn’t show off his potential. Check, Life of Brian
Tool have broken the record of songs that can be considered masterpieces.
@@danielhill8200 idk man have you heard the early stuff? Like 72826, Undertow? I personally think that shows off his range way more. After all, his guttural yells are what made his fans fall in love with the music in the first place.
This is a mix of the studio version and some live shows with reverb and the crowd mixed in.
I recommend 3 libras by A perfect circle live in the tonight show ua-cam.com/video/hRa8rNlBakQ/v-deo.html. He is performing in front of the band in that one
Yes amazing song and performance
They doesn't sound right
Some bands are monster live, and will often be close to studio sound while playing live, Meshuggah is a good example
I don't think so. Subtleties in the drum tone and tempo...it's a stage version almost certainly. (I'm a 25 year drummer btw)
It does sound too clean to be live but could be ,
Its a talkbox guitar pedal not just through a mic btw
just to clarify, the first vocal effect she was talking about on maynard's vocal was just a bit of distortion.
A talk box is a really fun guitar effect where you put the output of the amp into the effect, which sends it through a tube into your mouth where you shape it, then exits your mouth and is picked up by the mic to the speakers. Fun to play with
Every song should have a talk box...Outta be a law
@@brianpetrie8400 Peter Frampton invented it, Foo Fighters used it, Alice in Chains used it... i'ts not a Mandella figment :P It's also an absolutely awesome piece of it.
What Doth Life!? Peter Frampton didn’t invent it lol but he did help make it more popular
I love this reaction because at the beginning of this video the eagerness of the presenter, the 'youtubeness' is visibly drawn out of her by the gravity of the song and the realness of this band, you can actually see it. The awkward intro smiles and energy disappear into, oh dang this is an actual song and it's getting me, exactly what I felt when first hearing this song.
and with this video i'm listening to Jambi for the 8th time today
a very good advice for ur channel:
do every single Tool song!
amir hossein Vandadi i can’t stop listening to Jambi it’s definitely my favorite
Beth is awesome, and I love Tool, but this was the studio version. We got duped!! :)
Great video, all the same. I love your insight, Beth. Your on-the-fly breakdowns have such a base of knowledge that you're pointing out things I hadn't noticed in hundreds of replays of these songs.
I only discovered you today, but you earned yourself a new subscriber/fan. Always so positive.
The talk box is a sweet guitar effect that pumps the sound from the amp/guitar into your mouth and you can effect the tone by shaping your mouth. The basic Peter Frampton goodness.
Never used one but have heard it can eff with your fillings. But I'm not a guitarist.
1:44 - 1:52 that is exactly my face every time I listen to a new Tool song! It's like "Oh this is weird...... [smiles] and I like it!"
The black guy is Michel Winslow, famous voice impressionist. The part you are talking about is a talk box
He he - with Odd Nordstoga. Norwegian artist.
He's in the police academy movies
Yes, voice box made famous by Peter Frampton. Would be interesting to see what Beth made of Do Like I Do by Frampton.
Would very much recommend doing the Grudge by Tool from their 2002 performance at Madison Square Garden. It is bananas. Fun video though Beth!
Saw them same tour! Epic. New album can't co.e soon enough.
I love this band, love the reaction, and love the insight. Never thought of the hows and its amazing when you stop and think about it. Good video.
could you do a video on serj tankian from soad? i found his voice and the way he sings to be really diferent from everybody else
Yes, absolutely agree!!!
First time I saw SOAD was at Ozzfest in I think 1998 (Tool was an absolute experience). I had no idea who SOAD was at the time. Their performance so impressed me that I bought their Cd as soon as I could find it. Serj was just outstanding.
@@ToolofSociety definetly one of the best bands i saw live aside from tool... but soad is dead..his voice isn't what its used to be.. sad

React to Pearl jam - Black (unplugged)
THISSSSSS PLEASEEEEEEE
Great choice!!
Excellent choice. I wanna see it.
Yesssss
Your reactions are priceless, I wish I could listen to these songs for the first time again
You're awesome BethRoars! Great song, I really like your Tool and MJK reactions. Thanks and keep up the great work
"he's not lit. He doesn't want to be lit." perfect description of MJK.
Love this song! Seen it live multiple times it's absolutely amazing! DC drumming insane as usual. 🤘
This is one of my favourite Tool songs, the intro riff and the talkbox is solo are two of the best things in music. More Tool please! Keep up the great work 🙂
Beth, I would love to see your reaction to Puscifer's The Humbling River. It is a duet between Maynard James Keenan from TOOL and Carina Round. It is incredible, a little softer and shows a stunning blend between their voices. The lyrics are almost like a folk tale and it gives you goosebumps when their voices meld. I'm sure you will enjoy it and find it quite fascinating and beautiful.
Jessyca Van Belle imo, Life of Brian is the smoothest Maynard voice ever been in a song. How he can go from that to Undertaker is mind blowing.
"3 Libras" from A Perfect Circle's performance on Jay Leno! Pweeeeez!
Great to see you doing TOOL/Maynard vocals again. Been looking forward to it! Actually, he started going in the shadows of the back to not be the focus of fans, down play it from other members and blend his vocals like he’s just another instrument. He was front and center from ‘91-99 before he started in ‘01.
Yeah, around that time too, he started using later more effects and distortion as he’s gotten older having lost some of the power and range. And loss of so effortlessly. Plus, add some creativity to it. And prior at times to not blow out his voice with all live shows they do.
Joe Mauceri II That’s interesting. The first time I saw them in concert was 2001. So I’ve only ever seen him in the back (I guess I don’t watch a lot of live videos). It makes sense though.
Thad correct
Begging your pardon, but Maynard hasn't lost fuck-all in power, range or stamina. His living low in his range on 10000 days is NOT a function of any diminishment in his abilities, but of his broadening his capabilities
Randy Diviney Well according to Adam, in the VIP session you can readily find on UA-cam, that’s simply not true. They have changed the tuning for songs like The Pot because, as Adam put it, “Maynard was having trouble” (with the pitch). He is about 60 by the way...of course he has lost range and stamina. He’s human.
Jeremy Hicks he’s 54 years old and I’ve seen their live performances with Tool and APC and he sounds fucking great! Ofcourse nobody sounds the same at 54 as they did when they were 20 but his range is super impressive!
More Tool! Awesome!
Please do: Ghost - If You Have Ghosts Acoustic Live
I second this!!
Oh man any Ghost song would be great!
👆
All the live sessions pls
If you have ghost....you have everything
GHOST YES PLEase
Maynard does not have stage fright. The reason why he used to perform(and sometimes still does) up front, often nearly naked aside from body paint, and now is in the back, usually unlit and nearly a silhouette, is because the emotional investment and vulnerability he gave in those early years was returned more often than not with blind idiocy, objects being thrown at him, screaming imbecilic fanatics, ignorant flippants and tragic misunderstanding. He stays in the back and gives less of himself during his performances nowadays for his own physical and emotional protection as well as the fact that he feels he has become too often the only focal point of the bands he performs with and prefers to step out of the limelight and let the other members of the band step into the spotlight and receive more of the credit they so richly deserve. He sings about this in “The Patient”.
P.S. The drumming you asked about is called Tabla Drumming. Danny learned from Aloke Dutta.
Fuck, thank you. I was about to comment this exact thing but now I dont have to type it all out.
That is 💯 correct. And also I heard an interview and he said that the sound is better for him to hear and that he stands no farther back than Danny Carey.
Well said Mike Park.
Lmfao. No. It literally is allll sound. He even says it in an interview. Hes the only one with an earpiece and it makes it hard to hear through the earpiece if your in front of the band. Especially Danny.
@@tristanwright9733 Yes finally someone spreads the truth. The man said it himself. Although Mike park that was an elaborate attempt LMF AO
You’re enthusiasm is wonderful and infectious : )
Thank you for sharing your insights and making these videos.
Sometimes Maynard sings into a megaphone held up to a mic to get a specific sound
No other band has impressed me as much as Tool, though Nine Inch Nails is a close second in the fact that he composes and mixes his own music. Vocally, Tool takes that cake. It's just fantastic and I've been listening to them for almost 20 years and still get "the feels".
I love your passion for music and vocals! I have watched a few videos of yours reacting to bands I've heard countless times before and notice new things that make them that much more artistic than I realized
Thanks for the most genuine happy smile I've hade in real long time! Seeing your enjoyment in one of my top 20 of tool for sure
This is my favorite Tool song!
I love watching someone fall in love with tool!!!
You have a great sense of all the components of a musical piece, and such an attention to subtle things in the vocals and instruments and to see you break down and acknowledge them is awesome, you do such a great job!!
I like your reaction videos as well. Insightful, analytical, and informative with an overall polished feel. Good on ya.
A Perfect Circle- Outsider live at Jay Leno
Definitely! It's an awesome version!
The drumming in that video is so tight.
I heart Brad Wilk!
Colter Wall. "The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie" his voice I'll blow you away!!
Kate McCannon is good one too!!!
I love your videos, Beth... great job always
Loving all the Tool. Jambi is one of my favs for sure
Check out A Perfect Circle- Outsider live at Red Rocks
tzibu lofrin - a brilliant MJK performance!!!
That whole concert is awesome
Would also recommend MJK's performance of The Outsider on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Everything from the scream at 3:14 on is too good.
ua-cam.com/video/o3N9PKGc-Tg/v-deo.html
Pay for it ;)
Prefer the Jay Leno version but still awesome!
There's a song by A Perfect Circle called "Thomas". I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
Yes!!!!! Love this song!! You know great talent when you see it!! Loved your reactions!!
Sweet! Love this one thank for doing TOOL!
I am very happy you react to Maynard so often lately! But this video isn't really live. The dude just added a bit reverb to the studio version and some crowd noises. So this is the song from the album. Nevermind, it shouldn't affect your analysis.
I don't think it is it's quite different in Maynard's volume level in certain spots but it's pretty God damn close
@@davidlapham4959
If you didnt have listen to a real live version of this song, you should. As soon as Maynard starts to sing you'll notice the differences. And if you have a good ear and understanding of music and sound, you might even notice the differences even bevor he starts to sing, during the instrumental intro.
The difference you hear in this version isn't something that has to do with the way he sang but with the editing (adding reverb and stuff).
Well to me as somebody who has studied all of tool and seen them perform this song live I would have to say when tool wants to sound just like the record they are perfectly capable of doing so and if this video is fake there would be no concrete way of really knowing
@@davidlapham4959 Dude, this isn't live. It is the exact same studio vocals. He has to sing this a lot louder live, and can't sing it exactly the same way he does in studio, etc etc. You're in denial if you actually believe this video is actual concert audio. Especially from a crowd
Idk maybe I'm wrong I just know that there are some spots where it sounds different from the studio version audio manipulation is a possibility but idk who would go through that much work for a fake live video
HAHAHA I can't stop laughing at her reaction to the first notes... No Beth, Adam wastes no time in stressing you out with that riff. Gold.
Your Tool reactions are my fave since they’re my fave band
My favorite UA-camr, reacting to one of my favorite bands.. gold. Love your insight and the attention you pay to real musicianship. And, gorgeous to boot😉
This song makes me feel invincible. Awesome video. Excellent choice! Oh and that effect you’re talking about is a talk box. Same thing Peter Frampton uses to make his guitar “talk”.
The effect used is a talkbox, basically a mouth oriented wah pedal
great vid. love the break downs
Seeing you rock out to Tool makes me smile
he doesnt actually have stage fright btw. its more of an idealogic stance-one railing against idol worship and wanting the entire band to get credit as a whole instead of the vocalist leading and in front, in the lights, getting all the attention as with most bands. they also usually have a huge video display in the background playing videos (at least partially created by the guitarist, Adam Jones; i saw them when they toured for Lateralus and the background videos then were amazinnng-had a transcendental flair to them much like that album-particularly in line with the Parabola video and the art of Alex Grey who i think cooperated with Adam for them.) to create an audio-visual sensory experience-they want that to get the attention it deserves and enhance the experience, which just wouldnt be the same with a vocalist in front in a goofy sunbeam commanding all the audience's attention. this is all something that was widely known in the late 90s/early 2000s, but has become sort of lost and obscured by mythos surrounding the band.
also id like to see you react to H by Tool. the vocals are great there-very subtle and evocative in parts, and more of the tabla drums like in Pushit.
great reaction btw, you always seem to nail it. your analysis of such a wide variety of vocalists is always spot-on. ( but more Jeff Buckley please! :) )
I think the confusion comes from the fact that Maynard *had* stage fright but used performing to get over it. You are right though - it's not the reason he doesn't stand front and centre.
@Mr. Fuck Hughson of 123 Eat Shit Lane You're unreasonably angry about a singer in a band standing 2 meters further back than normal. Reconcider your whole life.
@@bccr13 possibly, but i havent seen any evidence or heard mentioned from Maynard himself that he ever had stage fright. until i see evidence im sticking to my guns. actually early on, even before he was in Tool and also early on in Tool he was front and center on stage. dont have a clue further back than that though, ie: high school etc. still havent seen a word from the man himself on the topic.
@@awave1 he mentions it on the joe rogan podcast, don't remember which one
@@bccr13 well if thats true maybe some internet sleuth can watch the 6+ hours of them and find a timestamp for us, heh. im not going to do it with the possibility that its not there, just to be told that i somehow missed it; or to find it and see MJK's typical sarcasm layed on thick and realize ppl have been taking him the wrong way.-and thats not meant as anything personal; its just the way these things tend to go.
Beth: “he’s not lit”
Me: Maynard is so lit
Great job Beth. God bless
This is my favorite song by my favorite band....excellent choice!
Check out anything Mike Patton. One of the most versatile voices out there
I was about to say the same thing, I dont know how he hasn't been done yet.
It's a rare day when someone recognizes Mike Patton.
fantômas
Yeah...Squeeze Me Macaroni!!🤣
Actually Mike Patton holds the current record for vocal range. 6 octaves. He beat Axl Rose (5 octave range in his prime) and Mariah Carey (5 & 1/2 octave range in her prime). Look for Moonchild on YT he performed...
Can you have a look at Faith No More's "Superhero" (the Radio 1 Rock Show session)? Mike Patton is well worth having a listen to.
David Ferguson This is a really good pick. Shows off versatility and range in one song.
Hey! Check out my reaction to Faith No More - Epic (Mike Patton Live) here: ua-cam.com/video/lPCaJOYPnpo/v-deo.html
Love you and your channel! Subscribed!!!!!!!!
Absolutely love that you dig Tool, thanks for analyzing my favorite band! Maynard is really unique in his vocals.
The origin of that vocal/guitar effect was Peter Frampton (his dad invented it} listen to "Do You Feel Like I Do". Best use of it is Jeff Beck, but this is really well done.
spiderbass65 I saw an interview with Adam and he for a message through the grape vine to Peter Frampton and he gave him the low down on it
"Sounds just like the record" hahahaha I wonder why
I hope you mean because they're real musicians, not processed pop
This is 100% the album vocals
@@JamesIsAsleep go watch the sober live video. He's that good
hes amazing I'm a huge tool fan, hes also incredible live (when he's actually singing), all of those things can be true and it still be true that the vocals in this video are from the album.
nick frodsad ya this is definitely the album vocals. I’ve listened to it too many times and noticed it right away.
I Love this!
Of all the vocal coaches I've seen react to Tool you easily go into the most detail Beth, keep up the good work.
i'd love to hear your reaction on Tool's "the grudge". (not just for that awesome long scream :D )
Someone has never seen Peter Frampton - Do You Feel Like I Do. (voice box effect)
Or “living on a prayer” by Bon Jovi.
That shit ruined my childhood
do you feel it Springfield?
Love the artwork on there stage!!
Great vid! The effect used on the guitar solo is a talk box, a unit to control and modify the instruments sound with your voice by "vocalizing" the instrument's output into a microphone.
I would love to see you react to Sully Erna (lead singer of Godsmack) - 7 years featuring Lisa Guyer
this is actually the Studio version with some Reverb, great video, love your comments!
Glad someone else noticed it's not live. Can't believe how far I had to scroll for the comments for that. But to be fair probably not everyone knows Beth prefers live versions for real singing.
Love how into Tool you are. Welcome to TOOL army! The most meaningful modern music.
Tool reactions are my favorite category in UA-cam
A Perfect Circle - Judith
Please do "The Package", by A Perfect Circle! One of Maynard's most dynamic vocal performances!
Yes! A perfect circle!
You could say his performance is 'the complete package' ;)
Yea, along with several others. By and down, the noose, orestes, gravity
You are a good person, thank you for this
This is one of my favorite reaction someone’s had.
I honestly think people request TOOL for their overall sound. Just an amazing group of musicians. And yes Maynard does have good vocal range but this being a Vocal Coach reaction channel would love to see more Alice in Chains Pearl Jam Soundgarden or even Stone Temple Pilots.
Mike Anderson Don’t forget ol Nirvana
Please do Oathbreaker - 10:56 / Second Son Of R (Audiotree Live)
YES
I love the way you describe his voice.
It really is a beautiful song. Made by a bunch of beautifully talented people that ever joined forces. It was cosmic that they all did so.
Another video of yours discussing Maynard you mention "cartoon voice actors" related to mjk's vocals. I never considered that before and find that to be a perfect description of how he achieves his sound. Fits in with his well known offbeat sense of humor as well.
Have you done a video for Mike Patton of Faith No More various other projects? He's known to have one of the largest ranges/notes/scales what have you.
I would recommend Stubb(a dub) from Mr. Bungle or Edge of the World from The real thing album
Queensryche - Take Hold of the Flame Live in Tokyo 1984. You won’t be disappointed.
I saw tool during this tour. Best concert ever
I have watched a lot of reaction videos but love your vocal commentary videos on Tool! I truly have been a Tool fan since 1993 but your commentary really takes my appreciation to new level because like you have commented before their music as a group almost puts me in a trance like state. You don't even really have to understand the lyrics to appreciate this music the arrangement and his ability to communicate emotion through his voice stand on their own. To understand the lyrics is just icing on the cake! Keep up the good work... might suggest taking a listen to Tedeschi Trucks Band (Midnight in Harlem) or Fleet Foxes (White Winter Hymnal).
I suggest you check out Beyond The Wheel (Early Version), by Soundgarden. Other than that, basically anything by Tool or Pearl Jam.
Samuel Vautour also a version of say hello to heaven in 1990 which his voice is impeccable as well. Good choices 👌👌
That would be awesome
Would love to hear your perspective on how Maynard is dealing with age in interesting ways when it comes to his vocals. Not a lot of people talk openly about aging voices and how to manage it.
He pitches a key down a lot these days...particularly The Pot in order to keep a solid vocal and the dynamics... screams less too.
Robert Plant does similar
Cedric Bixler totally changed his voice from about 2010 too
You Are Awesome! 😍😍😍
My favorite TOOL song , thank you 🙏🏻😊
