Great to see the positives and negatives! Love the transparency.

Thank you very much, I really appreciate it and hope you’re enjoying the channel! That’s definitely my aim with the channel, to show the good and the bad days because they happen to everyone and it’s just a case of bouncing back as best you can.
I also think it’s important to not just ignore the bad days but to try and understand what went wrong so that you can come back better, so if I didn’t analyse then other people wouldn’t learn anything from the channel and I probably wouldn’t learn from my own mistakes either

Enjoying the videos Patrick, and I'd love to be disappointed with a 4:21! On the subject of pacing, do you check the watch (or get a split shout off someone) at the 200 mark? (i.e. after 209m). Or do you not know your pace at all til you see the clock after lap 1?

Thank you very much! I was basically relying on my own pacing instincts (which didn’t work very well) as I didn’t have a watch or anyone calling them out, so that’s right, the first time I saw any time was at the 400 mark.
I think that’s fine and how most races are, and everyone else was in the same boat, but I think that just didn’t work well for me on the night. At the same time though, I think I really should be able to tell what pace I’m running at this stage, as I do race pace work all the time in training, so I think I let the adrenaline get the better of me. But all in all it was a good workout and set me up well for the last race of the season

That was a fantastic time! I'm sure the rain had a bit of a negative effect on times for everyone. Great job anyway! =D

Thank you very much, I really appreciate it! Yes the rain wasn’t great although I think if I’d run my best it wouldn’t have gotten in the way of a big PB. I suppose it’s good to get used to running in different conditions though!

    Good experience for you.
Rain probably cost you a few seconds too.

Thank you very much, yes I agree, ‘you win or you learn’ as they say. I think for me it’s one of those things where it’s very frustrating because I know I’m a lot fitter than that race showed, and thankfully my season has shown that my fitness has moved forward a lot with big PBs all round, but it definitely hurts to have a bad race and hopefully my next mile race in the next season will be a lot better

I think you're too hard on yourself. This was more of a time trial (training) than a race! The conditions was far from ideal. You had no competiton in that "race". I think you're doing very well.

@@andrewlarasen9615 Thank you very much for the kind words, I agree with a lot of what you say. I think, on the whole, the season went extremely well, and if I can make similar progress again next year I’ll be over the moon, but I do find those races where I underperform hard to take. But it’s all part of the journey I suppose, and I’m so grateful for the support.
I think it’s great that I had another race a few days later though which give me a great chance to prove that I was in the best shape I’ve been in
