It really is. I can never keep myself from looking at the hands to see if they overlap slightly. I'm guessing they had a stand-in for the hand smack, then had Danny stand there afterwards and they combined the two shots or something like that.
yep. and after having gone through hours of makeup herself as Camille and thinking nothing of it, she no longer had any sympathy for Robert's moaning about it.
I found the cat meeting Camille part great for a few reasons. Not only is his perfect mate himself, but also for how it was handled. He asks Lister about it, asks about seeing her, and Lister says "go for it". Cat goes in, satisfies his curiosity, and then leaves. Maybe it was just the time period I saw the episode in, but this seems contrary to how a lot of science fiction and fantasy deals with such things. It's always a big deal, something to be cautious of, etc. Careful around the emphatic metamorph and what-not. It all comes back to treating her sympathetically, as you said. It made the show far more fun, funny, and interesting. It makes it one of my, if not the, favorite episodes I've seen.
You know kryten liking blob camille might be because as a mechanoid cleaning unit he is programmed to like messes to clean up, remember his perfect room from legion was a large mess with a mop and bucket for him the clean
When I commented on Rob Llewellyn video on his show Fully Charged, he said something silly about my comment and I replied that he's a shmmmeeeee... a shmmeee... and confessed that I could not do it as he's just too awesome. :P
ASCII isn't pronounced "ASC2" as Kryten does in this episode. The letters stand for American Standard Code for Information Interchange, or "ass-key" for short. So Kryten, in fact, isn't always right.
I think it was the fan site where they did an interview with the character. Chamile explains the difficulty of two pleasure GELFs trying to mate. Their bodies rapidly shift, becoming new perfect partners. By the time they've found some kind of match, and lined up some of their many sex organs, they're both too exhausted to continue.
Just binge-watched this playlist. Never watched RD but I might have to check it out! BTW it's not sci-fi but if you like 80's british comedies you should check out The Young Ones. Only two seasons, but it's great. :-)
In the books her race had five hooks, these hooks depending how many you have will make them fall more and more in love with you and do as you say. In the books they where pretty much sex slave which was kinda sad. Fun fact this ep was air on Valentine's Day. 1991
Do you plan on reviewing the Red Dwarf USA pilots between Series V and VI? Also at this rate, you'll be able to review the two new series pretty much as they air!
I enjoyed this episode a lot, too. It was a fresh new idea and handled the way Red Dwarf would handle it. It should also be stated that believe it or not, this is the first episode where Cat refers to Kryten by his name, and not calling him "Freak Face", or anything like that.
+Wright805 . When I look at her, I want to see her in period pieces. as in, films set in various areas of history with their own distinctive fashion style. She is the kind of attractive that I want to see in gowns or elaborate dresses, or perhaps even The depression-era flapper look. I may be biased though, as costumes/outfits can make or break a film/series for me.
why did did you delete the kryten line "what did she model spark plugs" the best line in the episode ,shows the humor of the americans compared to the english
This is mine & my late dad's favourite episode of Red Dwarf, his favourite film was Casablanca so he always found this hilarious.
Miss you Daddy ❤
The cat high five is a great special effect for the early 90s

I believe the actress who played Mechanoid Camille, was in fact Robert Llewellyn's wife
Also I think Listers Camile was played by Craig charles girl friend at the time.
yep. and after having gone through hours of makeup herself as Camille and thinking nothing of it, she no longer had any sympathy for Robert's moaning about it.
Yes and their kids didn't like the episode when they were young as "Mummy turned into a blob".
@@Khuratokh To be fair, she only had to do it for one episode.
Lister's Camille is babe like her accent too

How Kryten tries to say smeghead slays me he naturally pulls off that rubberface vibe without the Kryten makeup

This was my second episode of the series. I love it!
I always found it funny that kryten sounds like a ZX Spectrum loading from tape when he tries to call rimmer a smeg head.
The hologram-girl for Rimmer is cute just think if she was a real human for Rimmer and has the same interests as him, Rimmer could be happy for once.
As far as amorphous green blobs go, I think you're really cute. ....awwwwww ;____;

I'm really enjoying this series, it's nice seeing the show through the eyes of a new fan
keep it up!
I’m guessing the GELF would take the form of Cat for you too.
Probably XD
@@Cyborcat For me it might take the form of a nicer Lady Dimitrescu.
This reminded me of the first Star Trek episode partially...the one with the Salt Vampire. The first one.
I like the scene where cat and lister and walking down the corridor and lister is trying to get cat to tell him what he saw.
when kryten says “you like them, well 1 of them, maybe” it reminds me of when kryten is asked if he respects humans in “Silaconia”.

Camille may be using the same psychic abilities as the Psirens.

The show is all on Hulu, including the recent mini series that revived it and the followup season.
I really enjoy your opinion and commentary
The greatest love story of all time :)
How funny would it have been if Lister and/or Rimmer saw the other in one in Cam’s forms?
That's what fanfic is for. ;)
That’s the stuff of nightmares.
@@fromthecheapseats7126 baby they kissed in a dream it’s not above the show
@@EeveeFromAlmia Like I said, nightmares.
I wonder what Holly saw when seeing Camila.
Male Holly.
Norman Lovett.

Yep ^.^
I won't get to XI when it airs because it's only a month away. I might be able to catch XII, tho.
Ganymede to Titan, yessir I bend around.
Ugh! That sudden cutaway to the insectoid GELF at 5:30 was scary as hell! Please avoid that in the future!
Still an amazing Vlog series, though :)
oh! Kryten lying is I think my all time favorite scene. maybe he can t lie b/c of Asimovs 3 robotic laws i.e. needs a good reason?
It is sad that in Czech dub, Kryten says "Tasmanian" instead of Czechoslovakian traffic warden.
Aww, they couldn't take a little jab at them =P
Cyborcat I think offense is taken because of the use of Czechoslovakia instead of the Czech Republic.
@@davidvasey5065 That makes sense

This episode first aired on Valentine's Day (33 years ago today at the time of making this comment)... so, happy 14/2, everyone.
The female version of lister was craigs realife girlfriend
Check out altered image a UK pop group from the 80s
Kachanski is lead singer.
So Camille is an Asari?
The female hologram form is actually quite a pretty actress. Personal taste.
I agree. BTW, the actress's name is Francesca Folan.

She is super cute.
that wasn't the hologram gelf that was his girlfriend.

here mr. fibble interviews her
How does an advanced mechanoid 3 million years in the future not know bananas aren't a fruit any more than a traffic cone is a fruit ?
the girls that played krytens gf and listers gf were there real life gfs
Strange Question, but how would I be able to get my hands on this? I would like to avoid streaming sites at all costs.
In that case, you'd either have to torrent it or buy the DVD's.
Cyborcat Alright, looks like I'm DVD hunting. Thank you so much for responding!

Probably thought it was unnecessary to leave in--things need to be cut for time, I can't just upload whole episodes.
I read the books a LONG time ago, but I think the G.E.L.F.s have to shapeshift and don't really have a say in it.
