That's a really interesting way of viewing the forces involved in a pitch.
Considering that a ball can certainly be thrown in the absence of gravity, I'd say we couldn't view gravity as being the primary or singular force that has to be utilized in order to throw, BUT it could perhaps be viewed as a "counterweight" to the rotational energy involved in a pitch which allows for a higher resulting speed (and power by way of momentum).
This is assuming that a pitcher on a mound is able to throw faster than in zero gravity without the footing or gravitational force to enable "push off" or its counteraction.
This isn't a perfect example, but a singular rotor blade from a helicopter no doubt cannot be spun as quickly as it could be as when there is another or second to balance (or oppose it.)

How important do you find conditioning/sprinting in a weekly routine for pitchers? If so, what kind of workload do you recommend?

Be interesting to hear his take on front foot. Does he have them plant solid into the ground or does he have them carry that momentum through with the toes coming being the last balance point remaining on the ground.

What are the specific strength thresholds you spoke of in this video?

We tend to see no real benefit to getting stronger for pitchers beyond a mid 300s squat, low 400s deadlift, and 90-100 lb DB bench and rows all for 3-5 reps. This is about as strong as a strong MLB pitcher is (and many are much weaker than this). Having worked with dozens of guys who have thrown upper 90s, these are actually high ball numbers. You’ve checked that absolute strength box if you’re this strong, and it becomes more about special strength, power, positions, mobility, pitchability and command, etc.
