  • Besides of an interesting structure, the project 0115 reminds us our childhood dreams that we did not manage to fulfil. The making of a gear selector system by pressing buttons from a motorcycle steering wheel is an exciting and interesting procedure.

    I have been watching your channel for 5 years and I can say with confidence that you have taken the construction of homemade products to a new level. Great job guys.

      This build were not homemade anymore, it's better called "workshop made". Simply because people not always keep their big lathe in their garage, except for those who literally lived in their workshop.

    • @torymiddlebrooks
      @torymiddlebrooks 3 роки тому

      I agree that "homemade" might be a stretch. They literally built themselves out of that space over the course of their channel. It's inspiring to see where you might end up if you focus.

      Yeah that would work the only problem I foresee is how to put the bike in neutral. As usually you need a half of a click up to put it into neutral

      @@gothmansams maybe a centrifugal clutch between the output shaft and the sprocket which engages above the engines idle speed. But maybe im also overthinking it and there is a better option

      @@gothmansams Some motorcycle gearboxes are N-1-2-3-4-5 as opposed to 1-N-2-3-4-5 :) I am not sure, but the Yamaha engine they use might have Neutral at the first spot and everything is up. I know all Honda engines have 1-N-2-3-etc. Of course some engines have only 4 speeds, and some semi-automatics have only 3. But I'm just saying, there might be a solution in choosing for a gearbox that starts with Neutral :)

    When I had plans for a racing moped I had the idea to use a co2 or compressed air system connected directly to the internal gear selector and have it be activated automatically when you pressed the clutch together with a spark cut. With adjustable time delay so I wouldn't blow up the gearbox ofc. It would only shift one way because that all that is needed from dragracing purposes but it could be adapted to shift up or down with the use of a RPM signal.

    Nice job . although a 2way pnumatic cylinder about 25mm piston and with 50mm -100mm travel is typically used along with C02 or onboard air. You eliminate the need for the air system . ( it could come in handy to reinflate a tire. ) a more extreme version would be to use a stepper motor connected directly to the shift drum. In the transmission.

    Hello from Turkey! I have a question about coils? Why you didn't use a single coil instead of two coils? If you have the chance to reconnect the cables remove one of the coils and supply the single one with reverse voltage. Pushing or pulling action is depends on the applied current direction. If you couldn't get enough power from one of them, you can connect the two in series and able to get more push or pull power.
