Got a question for you. The connecting piece with the battery, in the video I couldn’t see what you did to disconnect that. How did you do it? I can’t seem to find a way to disconnect it.

Thanks. My Legion's screen busted while it was in my carryinh case while I was driving so have to get a new display. It seems that I only need to open the bottom cover and remove the heat sink and one of the fans to get the display wire out and then just screw out the rest?
If its just the screen itself you may be able to leave everything together and just remove the front bezel, I would try that first. This may give you access to the screen and you can possibly disconnect the LCD cable from the screen itself. I don't see any screws holding it in place so it's probably glued.
A repair for an overheated y530 from a somewhat shady shop seems to not have fixed everything with random shut downs occcuring, which is better than it not turning on in the first place i suppose. Could this be caused by any of the ribbons not being in properly after the repair? The keyboard backlight doesn't work for instance, if it hasn't gotten fried at least. Which is weird since the standard lights in caps and num lock work.
Not usually.... mostly it's a cooling issue or a bad motherboard. If it happens randomly WITHOUT playing games or doing anything CPU/GPU intensive, than I would suspect a motherboard going bad. I would try to make sure you have clean fans and heatsink fins.... use canned air to blast them clean without having to open the case.... spray the air into the back vents. Good luck!
Thanks so much for making this! Just one question. The screws holding the heat sink on mine are super tight, so the screwdriver just spins around on top, but I don't want to break anything by applying too much downward pressure; is it okay to lubricate the visible threads, or will that cause any problems? Thanks.
You may have to remove the motherboard first so that you CAN apply good pressure. Put something underneath that supports that section of the motherboard. Lubricating the threads won't help, the screw is too tight, not rusted. Make sure the bit fits the screw as closely as possible. Sometimes it can help to first try and tighten the screw slightly to break it free, then unscrew.

@@andrasgedeon3325 No, The back of the keyobard has a metal that has been riveted to the plastic case. I must cut the rivets and open and clean it. But i found a replacement for 60$ and i think first i will buy the replacement and after that try to repair the old one. Pretty bad design. They easily could replace the rivets with 8-10 bolts
I was planning to get a replacement part as well but I actually have an y540 and haven't been able to find one. Chances are I could use the same replacement part as you for the 530 but you never know, maybe lenovo changed somethig. I'm not sure if cleaning up could hep me since mine had a little bit of wine yesterday...
@@andrasgedeon3325 it must help, but for that you should cut the metal part, and disasemble the whole keyboard. Inside there must be 2 layers and you must clean them, but im pretty sure it is hard

Bro, the same thing happened to me where you bought the replacement? my key Q stop working
No way you can open a laptop so easily, not if it's your first time and the laptop is still sealed. You can't even make it even using a thin credit card... so why don't you teach us how really open a lapotp?
A spudger is really helpful since you can slide it along the crease and pry with it. It takes patience but you can do it!
Use a drill man.
Could you please demonstrate how to remove the dc jack from the motherboard? I need to replace mime and de-soldering the contacts doesn't seem to make it come loose.
I don't desolder dc jack and other components integrated with the motherboard.
