I really hope this series doesn't end with the first game, rac 2 and deadlocked are among my favorites in this series, and the music is SO worth it by deadlocked!!
Don't worry, I'm gonna keep it going after this one!! There are other game series I wanna cover too, but more R&C will always be on the list. Totally agree with you on Deadlocked btw, easily one of my favorite games and soundtracks of all time
I think the most interesting part about David's work on this game is how he manages to take themes and then twist them into very different contextual variants - Quartu is probably one of the best examples in this game, it goes from a funky alien vibe to a mecha deathmatch vibe without sounding like you've changed planets. Random game trivia: - The little laser bots in the water tunnels (both on Quartu and Drek's Fleet) are the same model that would later be reused for the Spiderbot Glove in R&C2 - For some reason, instead of making the crates behind the CodeBot door on Quartu contain 20k bolts, entering the door is what gives you a flat 20k per playthrough. Also, I'm unsure if this has ever come up in dev commentary or anything, but it feels like the Morph-o-Ray ought to be in the Kalebo III breakroom. Not sure why it got moved (if it was ever intended to be there at all).
I'm totally with you on the morph-o-ray, I could see that being something they forgot to change last minute and figured it wasn't important enough to fix (even though it makes no sense in Gorda city ruins lol) You've always got such cool trivia! That spiderbot one is nuts, I never would've clocked that
Yeah, the Quartu track is definitely my favorite: it wasn't always the case (I've played these games since I was about 7-8 years old), but it definitely rose up the ranks over the years.
I love the beep boop, phonelike noises in Kalebo's ost. It's my favorite of the first game. You said stuff about specific instruments but I cant tell which are which at all 😅
Quartu is definitely the funkiest planet in the game for me! I also think the grind rail track on Kalebo III fits more than the swingshot section on Aridia because it's more whimsical. On Aridia, I think it clashes more with the relaxed and darker vibes. Oh and be sure to listen to the Drek final boss theme that never plays in the NTSC version because of a glitch!
We got a disagreement! Unsubbed! Lol no but its funny, to me Quartu is such a quintessential R&C1 track! The breakbeats, the clunky textures, the quirky melody. I kinda get where you're coming from though, with the synths. Absolutely agree that the second track in Kalebo should've stayed there though. I do actually like the swingshot music but it just completely walks over the vibes that Aridia sets up before, good catch! #gadgetron Edit: And holy shit imagine if the race took place underwater in glass domes or something, like aquatos from R&C3! That would've been so cool.. and physically accurate..

I've just beaten this game this night and Quartu's theme was one of the ones I loved instantly, alongside with Novalis' theme
Main theme for Quartu is my jam! I’d almost say it’s iconic! Definitely one of the top tracks in the series!

I love how new favorites appear for us in the games we've loved for decades. I've definitely had some new favorites show up in this playthrough so far
12:35 "The kids love their social medias. #Gadgetron" Did you REALLY need to go there?
That reimagining was such a disappointment.

lol oops, I'll try to be more clear about specifics in the future! I just get too excited about it sometimes and forget to describe things 😂
9:56 Literally me every time I hear this track 😂
I just can't help it, it's too catchy lol
Love this game and love this series. would be cool to see you do other R&C games
I'm gonna head into the second game after this one!
18:15 This works too well 😂
I've been excited to do that since I started this series 😂

You gotta do R&C2 that OST has some certified bangers. I cringed at the hashtag part.
The kids LOVE their social medias 😎
And yeah I'm rolling into that right after I finish this game up I think, it's gonna be goooood.
lmao the cringy 2016 dialogue edit in Kaleebo III
My proudest moment
