There are many but the one I think is my fav was the 1998 Monday night game against the Dolphins when he threw the winning touchdown w a broken finger. All the idiotic press finally had to be honest and admit Drew was extremely tough. I mean he had played almost all of 1995 w a separated left shoulder he suffered in wk 2 against the niners w Ken Norton jr. hit him then the last 2+ weeks with both shoulders separated w Gregg Lloyd hit him and partially separated his throwing shoulder. The media never acknowledged that fact w they would label Bledsoe for being soft. There is alot the media selectively forgot or ignored w it came to Drews career. That's why he isn't in the HOF. But that can be said for alot of great players unfortunately. Great podcast guys I'm now a subscriber. Keep up the great job.
the time he had a broken finger and threw a dime on the sideline to shawn jefferson to win the game. i don't remember if it was against the bills or dolphins, but i believe that was the same game the bills/dolphins were mad so they didn't line up for the extra point, so adam vinatieri just ran it in!
@@barrymitchell6681 mine was the week following that when he threw a td to Ben Coates on the last play of the game to win....only time ever back to back like that...guy is a legend and doesn't get the respect he should
Getting a shot in the AFC Championship to help the Patriots beat the Steelers and get to a Super Bowl which they eventually won for their first ever Lombardi Trophy. Bledsoe is painfully underrated, as a football player, as a quarterback, and as a person. The way Bledsoe put the sport he loved above himself, the team/his teammates above himself, and doing the job of a back up quarterback for Brady through that shows his character, his mental toughness and shows appreciation for backups, for his backups through the years and the quarterback position, and for football in general. If Brady never became Brady, the Patriots still play in and very likely win at least one Super Bowl with Bledsoe at some point. The situation playing out the way it did also meant Bledsoe didn’t get to sign with a team that could’ve been the best fit for him moving forward, that any team missing that piece couldn’t just sign him and contend, so it meant more than just losing the starting job. He was a class act and a damn good quarterback.
Not sure why this took a year to get into my feed, but a nice listen. I still remember playing as Takeo in NFL2K because his player pic was just a head on top of gigantic traps. The pic fit the name perfectly
Love Drew. He was so fun and exciting to watch in NE after years of mediocrity. And he's a true class act and great guy more importantly. Thanks for the vid and thank you Drew!!
I'm from Massachusetts I've seen Drew bledsoe play he was up the street yet at umass-dartmouth and ball to a kid and the kid landed on his ass Drew bledsoe he had arm like a rocket e he was team before self always every game the Patriots he fell on his sword for the whole team
Dont think theres any QB that reminds me of Bledsoe in the league these days...the league doesnt allow QBs to take the kind of beating he regularly got back up from...if nothing else he was insanely tough.
loved Bledsoe and what he did for the Pats but I cant agree with that statement...Hes a worthy Pats HOFer, not deserving of entry into the NFL HOF...Kraft saved NE-they were still headed out of town with Bledsoe as their starting QB...Bledsoe gave them some legit stability and was a step in the right direction from where theyd been for the last handful of yrs or so, but he does not have the numbers...He had a HOF caliber cannon and heart, but he never produced a 2:1 TD:INT ratio for a single season even once, and the 4ints he threw to GB during his lone SB start are the primary reason the team lost. He didnt have great footwork, had lil-no mobility, and he was subpar when it comes to pocket awareness as well as his ability to scan the field and read all levels of opposing defenses. I dont think the coaching carousal he had to deal with over and over again throughout his career served him well either, but in regards to work ethic I dont think he went above and beyond to be the best QB he could be.
Everyone forgets Brady didn't take the team on the 2001 postseason run. Should've lost on the Tuck Rule game and then Bledsoe won the AFC Championship game for Tom. Tom led his offense to ONE touchdown the entire 2001 postseason and walks away with the MVP. Revisionist history acts like he carried the team from day one. Couldn't be farther from the truth.
he was a game manager early in his career. they didn't win that first one on Bradys arm, they won it with good defense and an offense that could protect the ball and score just enough to win games
There's some truth to what you say - esp in '01 and of course, the non-playoff '02 season. But let's get REAL. Brady is a first-ballot HOF shoo-in when he's eligible in a couple of years, whether YOU like it or not. The man led the Patriots to SIX Lombardi trophies -- "Tuck Rule" & "DeflateGate" nonwithstanding, and SB MVP or not. Then to think he goes to Tampa and wins yet _another_ Super Bowl ring there - with a whole new set of players & coaches, under an entirely different system, with NO Belichick in sight - at the "tender" age of 43 ?! WHAT ??! 🤯 You can't "cheat" your way to that level of success, nor is it "revisionist" -- just Facts. I've been a Pats fan for about 45 years, and Tom Terrific brought us not _just_ nearly 20 years of success, but PRIDE, RESPECT, and JOY. The Pats had been the laughing stock of the NFL for much of their existence prior to the Belichick-Brady era. We fans would try to be hopeful, but the end result was too-often cringe-worthy. 😩 In Brady's first 10 or so years ("Act 1"), he had only HOF-level wideout (Randy Moss), two very good ones (Deion Branch & Wes Welker), and only ONE world-class RB (Corey Dillon) to provide the Pats a legit running game & take some pressure off of him. In "Act 2", he had this big, fast, strong tight-end with great hands who came to be known as "Gronk", and of course Julian Edelman. For the most part, that was about it. Don't get it twisted -- I freakin' love/loved Drew Bledsoe and what he brought to the table. He had a howitzer of an arm, and he & Curtis Martin led us to SB XXXI. But he was a gunslinger who threw too many interceptions, and indeed, his 4 picks in that game were a huge contributing factor in the loss. 😢 What Brady lacked in raw arm strength, he more than made up for in accuracy, reading defenses, mobility, and general "football smarts" (like clock-management) -- not to mention team leadership and his unslakable passion to WIN. Drew raised the Pats' game, and I'll always respect him for that, but Tom brought us the success we so desperately craved & needed. That's why he's in the GOAT 🐐 conversation, and a living legend !!
SUCH a class act! & the way he handled the Brady thing, watching a rook steal ur job and take ur team AND WIN! Handled with grace! CLASS ACT! At least tom did what he did so u can’t feel so bad! Makes u feel part of history!
Look at Donnie Edwards stats vs Ray Lewis. It's the Media. I have always gave Drew the love cause Drew won the AFC championship and should have started the Superbowl. Drew was Mahomes before Mahomes. His arm was electric. And this is coming from a Lifelong Chiefs fan
Bill didn’t. Tommy actually won ANOTHER FUKN SB!! So yea it was Brady! Gave us 6 should be 8 & perfect season but fuk it! Drew got us there too! Class act Drew! He was the guy When I 1st started following football & He sparked tge goat!
What is your favorite highlight from Drew Bledsoe's career? Let us know in the comments!
kinda foul to say it but him getting hurt and losing his job to Brady. Thats a top 5 historical moment in NFL history

Been following the AFC all my life, Takeo Spikes was a beast. Glad to know he's a class act.

So badass you got Drew on the podcast...Credibility gained via podcast wise bro
Drew helped turn around the Patriots. He laid down the frame work for their later success.
Drew played under Bill Parcels, Bill Belichick and Pete Carroll. Those are some legendary coaches, damn.
Factual

93-94 were awesome years
Tom has barely a 1000 yards rushing in 21 years. The goat has proved time and again that the pocket passer is the way to play! Mic drop!
He’s SUCH a good dude!

drew needs to be in the hof he has the numbers but he saved new england he is the best
