We thought we were going to the Superbowl Drew Bledsoe put up such a amazing numbers that year with Kevin gilbride at his as offensive coordinator Eric Moulds Peerless price Travis Henry if we only would have had him a big talented blocking pass-catching tight end and a better defensive line we could have done so much more with Drew here. ReturnoftheBrotha dude what?! He said a small city in new england... so he lives in a city somewhere in new england... no new england is not a state... but its a place lmao it makes perfect sense
You are kidding, right? Drew threw 10/21, 102 yards, one TD in more than half the game. The game was won by the special teams, with two TDs. I have respect for DB, and he seems a super-nice guy, but his contributions to that SB were off the field.
I got so confused when Bledsoe said “I never knew Tom would be a 6 Super Bowl guy” lol, he had been to 6, now he had won 6 with the pats and 1 with Tampa. Crazy!
Yes, but this interview was 9 years ago, just after Patriots beat Seattle in the Superbowl. Patriots were 4-2 in SB's after that game. After this interview, Brady won 2 more SB's with Patriots and 1 more with Bucs. Also lost 1 more against Eagles. Brady had a hell of a career after this interview, with 3 SB wins and 1 SB loss.
Not only is Drew an amazing person, but his dad Mac Bledsoe has done just as amazing things for this country and his communities throughout his life, worth looking him up
Bledsoe was really really good as a pocket passer. Had a great arm. I do remember that whenever he ran, he looked like he was moving in slow-motion. Probably still way faster than me though.
As a Cowboys fan, I'm proud we had him for the brief time that we did, and I'm grateful for him being there to administer the 33-10 beatdown of the Eagles on 10/9/05. Most satisfying game I've ever seen in person. And he was always top-class guy throughout his brief tenure with the Cowboys.
I know how devastating it was to lose his job all those years ago. I wonder, now, if losing your job to someone who many feel is the greatest of all time takes some of the sting out of it.
While Brady did win the Superbowl and is AWESOME... it was Beldsoe that won the AFC Championship game in 2001 as Brady got hurt early on in that game. Bledsoe in a way helped earn his own ring to some extent.

+David Wiley Jr I dunno, he fell off precipitously after about a year in Buffalo. Always held it a bit too long, threw too many picks. Weird as a Pats fan today seeing Edelman wearing his number (as great as he's been), I wouldn't mind seeing it retired for Drew for what he done to put the Pats back on the map, though.
Easy to "fall off" when Buffalo gets rid of Pearless Price, Jay Remersma, Larry Centers and Eric Moulds tears his hamstring the year after he breaks 13 passing records for you. BUFFALO deserved what happened to them. Drew deserved better. Dallas was fun the first year, then they had no O-line the next.. Drew had gallons left in the tank. He just didn't want to play anymore.

Elway didn't won til he got the west coast offence up and running. All those guys came from Bill Walsh's offencesive skeems. I think the guy from the rams too. Mike Martz
I'll disagree with his assessment on Elway & Manning bc I hate those guys lol. Growing up however, I was never really a football fan as my entire family cheered on the dynasty Cowboys living in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I started following the sport during Bledsoe's rookie year as his main target was a guy with my same first name (Ben Coates). Drew really had some of the most mesmerizing passing mechanics I've ever seen & fell in love with the sport as a result of him.
Elway had 2 all time great on offense (Terrell Davis and Shannon Sharpe) the years he won it. Montana won SBs with 2 different coaches and 2 vastly different teams...plus he came within 1 game of taking the Chiefs to the SB.
@@Mike-ji8ez I realize that your reply was from 4 years ago. Since then, Brady proved you wrong while winning another SB with Tampa Bay. Patriots have done nothing since Brady was gone.
Wait? Elway didn't have pro bowl talent? How about the golden jacket wearing shannon Sharpe/ terrell Davis? Lol how do u say he didnt have much around him? He also had fantastic offensive lineman his whole career!?!? Bledsoe and patrick can blow me
@Richard Milliken Drew never won a super bowl either moron and rings dont make QBs better than others. Marino used to beat the fuck put of Bledsoe and also threw for more yards and TDs. Check the 1994 season, Drew couldn't carry Dan's jockstrap
@Richard Milliken Marino beat Bledsoe all the time and threw a game winning TD bomb on 4th and 5 from 40 yards out which was his 5th TD of the game while throwing for 539 yards. Also Bledsoe won as a backup so that means nothing. Super bowl wins are results from a complete team, not individual QB. Marino was the superior QB than Brady, Montana, Elway, Favre, Bradshaw, and Aikman in every single aspect in the game. No one played the position better and no one did more with less. Bradshaw and Aikman are not even in the discussion
@Richard Milliken thats complete bullshit. Its obvious all you did was cherry pick stats. Marino made chicken salad with chicken shit. In those 8 postseason losses, his defense gave up an average of 35 points per game and 201 rushing yards per game. This forced Marino to take greater risks because his team was behind by 2-3 scores in those losses so all the dolphins had was Marino. He also had a total of 5 TDs dropped in the 85 and 92 AFC championship games on seperate drives. In the 1995 playoff game vs the bills. He had 10 passes dropped including multiple TD drops and he still threw for 422 yards. Marino was playing with hot garbage defenses with no run game whatsoever. You put Marino on Brady's teams of the last 20 years, he would have a ring on every finger on both hands without choke jobs against Eli Manning and Nick Foles
joshx413 He's not jealous, I think that's his honest opinion, there's a lot of great quarterbacks who have played the game and he's in the conversation as one of the greatest ever.
When bledsoe came to new England I got one of his jerseys and wore it so much in theres a pic of me in 95 with it on and numbers are about wore off but bledsoe was his own demise. He was so bitter from loosing his job he let it ruin his career he elegantly downs Brady every chance he gets then talks about Payton being the best because he was successful with 2 teams but bledsoe was washed up before he ever left ne because of his own mind to me he was one of the greatest but he was his own worst enemy. Humble Up drew
Watching this interview among others, past and present, Bledsoe is still very bitter at Brady and takes jabs at Brady whenever possible. He claims they are friends, but just about every interview, Bledsoe will cut Brady down, just as he did in this one. I've been a fan of The Patriots since 1998 and loved Bledsoe, but took to Brady really quick when he replaced Bledsoe. After watching another one of Bledsoe's interviews, I am completely disgusted with him!
+Kim “Kimber808” D I've never seen or heard of that. He's never been anything but gracious about that situation. He was a very good QB who got hurt and lost his QB to an also-good QB at the time who was making a lot less money. Sheer luck Brady became much better later on for the Pats.
+Kim “Kimber808” D Drew Bledsoe is a class act and I didn't detect any bitterness at all toward Tom Brady in this interview. From what I've seen, he has always carried himself honorably and graciously despite the situation which must have been humiliating and heartbreaking. Three people saved the New England Patriots back in 1993 - Robert Kraft, Bill Parcells, and Drew Bledsoe. Patriots fans should always remember that.
Bledsoe was devastated when he lost his job to Brady. He even said in a past interview that Brady was not a good "backup quarterback" and that at some point and time Brady should have given him his job back. He even said in an interview that Brady was always on him trying to get information and Bledsoe said that he shouldn't have shared everything. When Bledsoe asked Brady, his first year, what plays he likes the best and Brady named them, Bledsoe then made a comment that he wanted to throw the ball so he could be on TV. Even in this interview it is clear that he is still bitter with his little snyde remarks that he slips in. I'm not saying Bledsoe is not a great QB, but when it comes to Brady, he is more a frenemy than a friend. And if I hear one more time about how Brady did not pay him for that bottle of wine, I will just send him a check myself. Brady didn't even order the wine, Bledsoe just sent it to him.
+Kim “Kimber808” D He may have been bitter all those years ago as he should've been. But I think he's just joking. Are he and Brady friends? Sure, not close buddy buddies, but they're cool with each other.
It's amazing that you guys call him smart. He's talking as if he plays. He wasn't know to be smart when he was playing. He threw so many interceptions. I kid you not look up his stats. One year he has the record in the 90s some thing like 25 ints or 26. Something like that. So every game he threw and int.... and them some. But one thing for sure. He could throw ball. He was a bit of a gunslinger... like farve and Marino. But Marino was better. I like Bledsoe but smart is something I wouldn't describe him as.
Yeah, I'm a little surprised at some of these comments too. Growing up in NE I remember we used to call him a 2 left footed INT waiting to happen. He is a class act in some respects, but you can hear the bitterness in there a little, (Some of it justified) he threw Brady under the bus as much as he complimented him. Personally, I've always thought Grogan was a better QB than Drew and I liked him more, he had a better personality too. People talk about the remarkable unathletic-ness of Brady but in comparison to Drew, he was Neon Deion! I will always respect Drew, he had some great moments and handled himself well on and off, but don't be fooled by what you hear in the news, Drew was on his way out and the majority of NE fans at the time knew it and wanted it. Certainly, not the way it happened, no one wants to see that, but a change was anticipated. At least in circels, I ran in. When we made it to the Super Bowl with him, I was just praying for a solid showing because I knew what he was prone to in the second half of games. That dude had a lot of brain farts on the field. Like we used to say "Sad but Drew".
When he was signed by my Buffalo Bills this city celebrating like we just won the Super Bowl. Bledsoe was underrated with the Bills. Has done some things even Jim Kelly hasn't done. Too bad the defense wasn't doing the job.

He may have been bitter all those years ago as he should've been.
