It wasn’t the end of his career…he had a pro bowl year in 2002 in Buffalo, had the Bills one win away from the playoffs in 2004 and was wrongfully cut by the Bills after 2004 so that they could start JP Losman (who was a massive draft bust), he then went to Dallas and had a good year in 2005 but was replaced by Romo halfway thru 2006 and then Drew retired on his OWN terms because he had a young family and didn’t want to be a veteran backup QB…so he ended up starting another 4 1/2 seasons in the NFL after being the starter in New England for 8 seasons…
@@mikeyoungblood1642 I did say “beginning of the end.” The Pats gave him a 10-year deal before the season and he was out of the league 5 years later. He only had 6 starts in his last year with Dallas and was replaced with Romo. He made three pro bowls in four years pre-2001 and then only one more with the Bills, like you mentioned.
@@scottmurphy6162 In fairness. He had already played 9 seasons. As time went on he got older...and battered in Buffalo. His career ended about the same time as most QBs of his age for his era. He went to a pro bowl in Buffalo and was pretty good his first year in Dallas as well. He is a first-class guy and deserves props for an overall great 14-year career with 4 pro bowls!
This is my first time watching one of these episodes. As a life ong Patriots fan, I 've always been a fan of Drew Bledsoe's. I honestly think he was wayyyyy better than the receivers he had. I'm glad his post-football life has been blessed.
U could tell drew still takes the benching hard even 20 years later ....tough , classy guy ....we were real happy when he helped patriots beat Steelers in afc championship
Yep and post 2001, was a pro bowl level QB from 2002-05 in Buffalo and Dallas…the 2001 Bills were dreadful and he gave them life to where they were contending for the playoffs 2002-04 before they stupidly cut Drew for JP Losman
You're a LEGEND Bledsoe. What you did in Pittsburgh made it all happen. And you started all the good times in Foxboro with OG Bill. Bledsoe to Coates baby. DREEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWW Go Pats!
Man I really feel for Drew Bledsoe. I don't think I've ever seen an interview where Brady wasn't the focus and he was just context for something to do with Brady. Dan rescued this interview from the fire and actually made it about Drew - props for that.
Wish somebody would ask Drew about anything else from the other 13 years he played. He had a nice career. #1 pick in 93. 4 Pro Bowls. AFC Champ in 1996.
As a Pats fan, since the “bad old days,” I can say nothing but good things about Drew. He and Bill Parcells are the reason that Belichick, and by extension, Brady, ended up with the Pats. He was a real trooper after he got hurt in 2001. I wish Drew nothing but the best.
Contrary to popular belief and narrative, Bledsoe’s career didn’t end after 2001…he started 70 games afterwards, was a starter in the Pro Bowl in 2002, and led the 02 & 04 Bills to within a win or two of the playoffs and did the same with the 05 Cowboys! He was wrongly cut from Buffalo after 04 because they wanted to start JP Losman and then yes he got replace by Romo in 06 and subsequently retired on his own terms because he didn’t want to be a backup QB and cause he had a young family & was starting his now insanely successful winery! Much love and respect to Drew Bledsoe 🍷! He is so chill and classy
My respect and admiration for Drew Bledsoe grew so much after Episode one. I had never really followed his story til now. We’ve all been in situations/circumstances similar to him. He’s handled it well.
HOF numbers, for the time, but not enough HOF moments. He’s in the Hall of Very Good. He’s in the Pats Hall of Fame. Top 25 all time. He’s properly placed.
the toughest job in sports isnt quarterback or catcher. it is playing defense in the nfl. what was legal yesterday is illegal today. what is legal today is illegal tomorrow.
5:18 Since Dan had a "how about this" idea for Drew, I have a "how about this" idea for Dan, how about this you make a DP T-shirt with the quote from Scottie Pippen "Do you understand English?" when he asked you that when you were interviewing him. 😅😂😅
Drew was a SOLID QB for many years. Worst roughing passer comes lately when POCKET starts collapsing and defense comes in and puts hands up as they come near to QB and. Bump on to him and PINKIE touches QB helmet as he falls. You just KNOW ridiculous flag is forthcoming.....
Drew was always cool I remember eating a Shawarma in a LAfa or Gyro watching Monday night footbal he was a Gun slinger like Brett Farve . Tom Brady is more of a chess player . Drew was like the NY Mets and Tom is like the Yankees more fun to watch Drew but Brady wins
Drew deserves major props for answering so many questions about what was ultimately the beginning of the end of his career.

Drew is a class act, every time our paths have crossed he is always gracious and humble. Great rep of the PNW!

Love how Drew has not let that moment define him. Retired and went after another mountain peak. Love the interview.

His game against Dan Marino week 1 was one of the greatest games ever

Drew throwing that touchdown against the steelers to get to the super bowl was epic..

Drew was getting after the wine in that cup.
Such a fantastic interview.
The Mo Lewis Wine bit LMAO. Love Drew, he was a killer QB. Glad He/things are going better than great for him post NFL.
Drew is crushing what ever is in that cup

I so wanted to go to Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, but ended up in Portland, Oregon.
Walla Walla. My home town. My Mom and Aunt went to school with the guy. Small world.
This guy had a stellar career and looking at his body of work he has HOF numbers. That being said I'm more impressed with his class as a man.
HOF numbers, for the time, but not enough HOF moments. He’s in the Hall of Very Good. He’s in the Pats Hall of Fame. Top 25 all time. He’s properly placed.
Watch drew play opening day 1994.
Drew is the man be helped rebuild the Organization
Drew was great.
the toughest job in sports isnt quarterback or catcher. it is playing defense in the nfl. what was legal yesterday is illegal today. what is legal today is illegal tomorrow.
Bledsoe is an impressively well-adjusted human being.
Doubleback winery in Walla Walla Washington!
“Internal Red” would have to be a bitter-sweet wine.
DP is the bench player at the end of the bench.
Anyone think Bledsoe is an underrated QB? I always liked him.
I like him more as a person than as a Patriot. He was the #1 overall pick and took us to the Super Bowl, but I think he is properly rated.

@5:27,
I admit it, I tell Mo Lewis jokes. I thought Tom Brady should have thanked Mo Lewis in his retirement speech.
Drew was always cool I remember eating a Shawarma in a LAfa or Gyro watching Monday night footbal
he was a Gun slinger like Brett Farve . Tom Brady is more of a chess player .
Drew was like the NY Mets and Tom is like the Yankees
more fun to watch Drew but Brady wins
How long is the media and Bledsoe going to milk his Brady connection
I would too
Love ya DP
Drew absolutely loves answering questions about Brady and how he lost his job to him.
He must get something out of it or else why would he keep doing it?
Brady destroyed this bums career.
This must be old... Mac sucks..
