Martin Belmont (Ducks Deluxe, Graham Parker & The Rumour) Interview (7/6/24)

Martin Belmont is an English guitarist who kicked off his music career as lead guitarist in pub rock band Ducks Deluxe. Martin would play on the first 2 full length releases and on an EP in the early to mid-70’s. After a reformation in the new millennium, he would play on another EP and 3 albums. In 1975 he co-founded The Rumour with Brinsley Schwarz (see my interview from February of 2023). From the period 1976 to 1980 the band would back Graham Parker on 6 albums and release 3 as The Rumour. The band would reunite in 2011 and would play live and record again up to 2015. Mr. Belmont played on 6 of Nick Lowe’s solo albums as well as a part of his Cowboy Outfit. He also toured with Elvis Costello & The Attractions. In 1987 Martin began playing as part of Hank Wangford’s Lost Cowboys. Over his career my guest has played in Carlene Carter’s band, played sessions with Johnny Cash, Paul Carrack and Billy Bragg just to name a few.
