Why..! Oh WHY.. are people still acting like the whole slap thing was real? This has been completely debunked. They were copying a scene from an old movie. You can look it up. The scene plays out exactly the same. The duologue is even the same, minus the profanity. It was a put on!
Will Smith is box office poison, that slapping incident was unforgivable, unacceptable and not easily forgotten. Smith was one of my favorite actors but these days I would never go see a movie he is in.

Having it take place on another planet would actually be less impactful and nobody cares about the laws of robotics anymore after the Terminator we just want fights explosions and car chases
The book was better, the movie although entertaining really only used the name of Issac Asimov's book. A sequel might work but his name has not fully recovered from the slapping incident, as shown by the comments on this post.
most of the time I watch a review are some ones theory of may come to be I don't find a problem that grabs my attention but this time I spotted 2. first the book I Robot was set of short stories with bearing the title of the book about a robot on earth being accused of crime and an second it implied that have not been used on other planets yet in that story.
There have now been four films based on the story (The Last Man on Earth, The Omega Man, Night of the Living Dead, and I am Legend). The last at least got the title right, but failed to impart its significance. I would like to see this oversight finally rectified.

I have read Asimov I robot it is a selection of short stories that don't meald easily into 1 film !

I disagree the movie stands alone and merely borrows from the before work. I, Robot is it's own story and has no need to be conformed to the book.
