    My 24' GRC leaves Mustangs, Chargers, Challengers, and other American V8s behind in the mountain passes. The GR Corolla was made for circuits and hairpin roads, while Mustangs are built for drag racing and straight-line speed. It takes more skill to drive a GR Corolla with rev matching, weight displacement, hitting the correct race line apex, and controlling oversteer and understeer. I'll take a GRC over a Mustang any day.

    Definitely have to enjoy V8 manuals while they’re still around. Happy the V8 Mustang is still here. The new S650 Mustang is so similar to the previous gen S550 Mustangs. It’s more like a facelift more than a new generation. I purchased a 2021 GT with 30k miles for $30 out the door 3 months ago. With only 2 performance mods (Headers and E85). I was just above 500 whp to the wheels. Tracked my Mustang twice so far and with Magnaride suspension from factory the car was a so good on race track. Takes turns really well and fast on the straightls. Not as engaging as my BRZ on track but pretty close considering how much bigger the Mustang is.

      We can engineer for more heat and power, we could use grocery paper bags for head gaskets but we don’t. Nothing is overstressed if engineered correctly.
      V8’s have way more complexity than a 4 or 3 cylinder, by that measure more likely to fail.

    Hey fellas!! Fun video!! The Mustang and the 10 speed,,, that’s a very quick car, especially for what you can get them for. I like the 2014 Mustang! Hate that colour, but that’s a taste thing. I like dark red (especially as well as Mazda does it, but Ford does it well also). I know that’s more a colour from the past, Cherry Red. I get a bit of flack for the colours of the cars, more so trucks, I own & have owned,,, haha.
    You fellas have to sacrifice some clutch on the launch. Dumping the clutch like all of you do, is killing the speed of all the manuals you drive. It’s not a Toyota thing, it’s just drag racing a manual seriously. Ride that clutch out further and let that motor sing!! You did great in the second race Tommy!! Very right, but doing that frequently is gonna get expensive over the long run. Haha. Well done Tommy!
    I don’t exactly think, Toyota or not, that the 3 cylinder will outlast the V8. Toyota has definitely built impressive motors and, like other builders, builds turbocharged engines as well,,, “turbocharged” engines, not simple ICE engines and adding a turbo. The 3 cylinder will last well, but if you use it,,, it’s gonna get used up much quicker. All of the 3 cylinders, especially the higher hp versions, are not going to last, that’s just physics.

The 10 speed is a bit of a crap shoot. Some last very well, others,,,, well. Haha.

    When I saw this video it made me have a little anxiety. I come from a n/a v8 family and have found myself in the market for a new car. In contrary to the car culture I grew up in, I put a deposit down on a "spot" to get a gr corolla in the circuit edition. The dealership I went to DOES NOT do any type of market adjustments which is why I did not hesitate. Three weeks ago I got the call and Im very excited ($46800 out the door for those who like knowing numbers). The car will be coming in April. But.......there is a small part of me that thinks "man I love the sound of a v8" and how enjoyable the powerband is. To the others watching this, am I making a mistake getting the corolla? sheesh i was hunting for Gr corollas and if they gave me a price more than 44k i walked, finally found one in January 2024 and paid 39.6k out the door, for my Core with Performance pack, cold weather pack and tech pack. All your paying for is cosmetics with the higher trims levels, not worth it (to me), ill buy and install some nice lightweight comfy racing seats, purchase a circuit edition hood with vents and a circuit edition spoiler. And after all that Id still have spent less that a circuit edition. After 3 months with my GRC, I daily it everyday/ everywhere never skips a beat, hugs corners with no hesitation and gives positive feedback and confidence, rides is firm but comfortable. I can use all the the power safely. if you want a "FUN" daily this is it. If you wanna detour after work and do some donuts in an empty parking lot real quick go for it, i have done this and its very easy almost as if the car GRC knows you want to do some donuts. The driving experience is very dynamic and will give you what you want on your command, want to save gas and cruise it'll do it, I average 32mpg at 70-75mph, its not a prius and i didnt buy it for gas mileage but I was happy knowing I can get 30+mpg if i wanted to. In closing here I was looking at big V8's (challengers, camaros, mustangs, SCSB trucks) before I started looking at the GRC. I decided to look at a GRC and test drive one at a dealer and I knew instantly this is what I want to drive everyday, put a grin on my face everytime I drive my GRC, before work, after work, lunch break, on the way to funeral, back home from a funeral. I will be sad when I have to leave for california for a week for work. if you haven't already test driven a GR corolla. DO IT NOW call around and ask if you can test drive one. only then will you know if its right for you.

    To be honest, value wise, that mustang but be the best value of performance per dollar. I don’t understand Tommy’s hate of the mustang Especially since be he is normally the 80year old. Also, the Mazda seems to be better than the Corolla. A little slower and a lot cheaper after markups. Sleeper

      @dmegahan - the GR Corolla was not built for drag racing. Put that Mazda on a road course with the GR Corolla and that Mazda will fall far behind quickly.

That Ford v8 is a proven engine. One of the most advanced v8 to exist, it's very responsive to boost with it's high revs and performance response, yet it still remains reliable/durable because of how resistant it is to abuse. They literally overbuilt that engine to be modified as was always the intention of Mustangs.

    the mazda sport mode shuts of OD so the gearing is 1:1 so after launch you're at a disadvantage whereas the manual toyota maintains his. They do offer manual in mazda but they said no awd turbo due to the lack of transfer case so FWD only. I currently have the 14 2.0 manual hatch and its still fun.

    launching the GR Corolla with the stock pitch mount presents significant challenges. The factory mount is notorious for tearing at the front with relatively low mileage, observed in instances as early as 1000 miles. Such damage complicates gear shifting, rev-matching, and the launching process considerably.

    • @rock40ps3
      @rock40ps3 9 місяців тому

      Do some research, your utterly incorrect about the Mount tearing, its just a soft pitch mount from the factory, that "tearing" is by design and is called flashing material, it was never meant to be permanently bonded to the aluminum structure, it is blatantly obvious if you ever actually looked at one.

    • @1InfinityShade
      @1InfinityShade 9 місяців тому

      @rock40ps3 My pitch mount was removed and inspected at a dealership prior to posting my comment. It was noted that the front of the mount had separated. Causing the engine to shift more than it should. This results in a loss of deliverable torque during launch. Additionally, this affects the 0 to 60 time and makes shifting more difficult.
      Many GR Corolla owners have discussed the pitch mount. It is evident that you lack the first-hand experience to comment on the subject.
