As someone who felt they were near mastering shooting with a 35mm fov, this video dropped a ton of new knowledge on me! Genuinely, one of the best photography videos I have ever found on UA-cam, thank you!
I don't know which part of this contribution is more interesting. The technical knowledge he shares or the beauty of his pictures. And I learned a new one - the Dutch Angle - according to Google - a camera technique used by the German Expressionists in the 1920 - ironically called Dutch. Thank you!
I loved your first video on the 35mm lens so I was ecstatic to see you back. Thank you for making this. I go back to that first one all the time, both for learning and for inspiration.
Best tips ever given. I like how you explained your compositions in details. I found 35mm focal length very challenging to shoot portraits. But your works inspire me to shoot more 35mm and be more intentional about compositions.
Thanks so much! I watched your video in a super loud coffee place with no sound practically and still it was very clear and helpful! Thank you for your work 🙏🏻
I recently got my hands on the original 35 mm L 1.4 and am loving this lens!!!! Please post more content of how you would use this like on maternity shoots, couple shoots, mock wedding, models, etc. Thanks & keep crushing it!
The Dutch angle? I'm Dutch but I never heard to that :) besides my 18-55 kitlens, I just bought a 35mm 1.8 lens for my Nikon D3500. I'm really enjoying your 35mm content.
Hey man just found your channel and it's been a lifesaver with understanding how to work with models. I had a question though: how do you guide them on outfit choices? Do they get this from the mood board and bring their own outfits, do you give general ideas, etc? I have a friend who is going to try and help me and asked what she should wear, which got me thinking. Great channel, hope to see more and more.
I bought my first prime lens a 23mm (35mm equivalent) for my camera, just to imitate the feel of fuji x100v.. I also plan to master this focal length before I bought another lens.. My only concern for this lens is the Portrait shot, thanks for this video I have now a starting point to practice.
When shooting you shoot slightly under exposed then fix up the picture in editing? Or you you try to keep the exposure at neutral as possible on the cameras sensor?
Absolutely great! Stunning photos! I am trying to decide which prime to buy to substitute my current zoom lens for my Fujifilm XT-4. I want a lens for everything from landscapes (which is my focus) to street and portraits. Seeing this makes me lean towards a 23mm (35 mm equivalent). Thank you for the inspiration! :)
@@_tommykuo I do that. I just feel like I'm overseeing some important patterns, when I analyse their pictures. Btw. you are my favorite UA-camr when it comes to photography.
Wow, I'm so glad I found your channel. So informative and your photography work is stunning.... I would love to create photos like you do. I bought a SIGMA 16mm a month ago in the intent of breaking away from my Canon M50 kit lens for vlogs and also taking pictures...... and I know in your previous video you recommended spending a great deal of time with your lens.... however, I would love to experiment more with photography and I keep wondering if I should purchase 35mm as well or the 50mm. (Obviously, you love the 35mm, but I was wondering if it's wise for me to buy another wide lens 😅) I'm still new to photography... if you ever have time... I would love your opinion for a beginner in photography who already has a 16mm but wants to venture out one more time to get a new lens in the future.
I loved your photos except for the dutch angle, not because of the angle itself, but because you cut her hands by the cuffs giving the sensation of not having hands... Otherwise, I love it! Thank you for your vídeos!
This man giving free knowledge to us all. Bless Tommy!
Haha my pleasure, thanks bro! Hope to see you soon
First yt photographer who talk more about harmony of elements rather then ps or editing
......... priceless

Sorry for my noob question but all these photos the subject is in the center. So does that mean the 1/3 rule does not apply with the 35mm in portrait?

Glad it was helpful! Thanks a lot man
Very good advice, thank you.
Can U tell please, are you cropping some of your photos from this video , or they all full sized ? 🙏

Which camera have you used for this ?
awesome tips sir
I was about to sell my Samyang XP 35mm F1.2 till I watched this. I'm now excited to go out and use it.
Good luck with the model and the light.
How did you learn about composition that way? Any books which you can recommend?
Study the work of photographers you admire. Take a look at their compositions and try to break it down for yourself, you may start to find patterns.
@@_tommykuo I do that. I just feel like I'm overseeing some important patterns, when I analyse their pictures.
Btw. you are my favorite UA-camr when it comes to photography.
Hi, do you have any interest in the collaboration of wireless video transmission system?
Thanks ❤ Sir

Make a video on your food photography 🙏🏼

your Good Bro!💯👍👏👊
I loved your photos except for the dutch angle, not because of the angle itself, but because you cut her hands by the cuffs giving the sensation of not having hands... Otherwise, I love it! Thank you for your vídeos!
Such a handsome fella!
Na that's you brother 💥
Headshots with a 35mm? How are you avoiding distortion of her features?
did you shoot this video with a 35mm?
The first photo would look better vertically
could you make a video on composition tips on a 50mm? :)
is this 35mm canon? sigma?
