    This will be a very different approach to designing a town from what we’ve done so far here in this playlist. Rural areas are spread out, allow for lots of space for individual citizens, and a diverse range of options for them to go and get what they need. Think “many small stores all over the place” instead of “big store in the center.” The logistics of moving people around in such an environment demands the people have agency over their mobility, leaving me to mostly worry about how to get stuff to all these locations, and how to design a traffic layout that doesn’t gridlock that many vehicles.

    Every time you have to landscape I’m reminded of how much I want the citizens to do it as a project, because it’s so painfully slow

    The village of Zernoskiy deserves lighted roads and sidewalks. It will look great on the coast. Especially overnight.

    Can you make a cul-de-sac with a nice big tree in the middle. OR a Lenin Statue!

    I swear this game is more complicated than trying to learn Maya, or Blender, or Lightwave 3D, but just makes me wanna figure it out even more man. lol

    Soviet appartment blocks had no designed parking. Simply because it was cheaper not to and also because not many people owned cars. Most people who owned cars had their cars in the village where their dacha (summer house/ bungalow) was and they traveld their by public transport to retrieve the cars.
    Nowadays, parking is still a huge issue because people now have cars. Parking lots are tucked away and squeezed in between buildings and many people park on the street. Public transport is thus still very important.

    could it be fun, adding to the car-centric nature of Zernoskiy to add a little trolley-bus line? (instead of train and metro in the big cities)

    Interesting concept...have you considered using trams/trollies instead of buses eventually for this new town, or are they not available in Workers and Resources?

    Ngl. I was expecting more of an Eastern European village and not an American suburb. All though, it still looks nice, and I hope you do eventually make a little Eastern european village. Nice episode ❤

      I have no experience with anything European, so I’d likely mess that up. Will look into it. Lots of map left

    I was expecting more fishing village than suburban but that is going to look so nice. Definitely worth the expense of the lighted roads.
    BTW when placing the heating plant don't forget the repair station needs it too. Also just an idea but if you do dredge a canal from that lake to the open ocean, the area might make a good ship repair yard with a port connected to a repair station? Might be a money maker.

    You should connect the forklifts to the steel because the automotive and train production requires a lot of steel and the electrical components also require steel, so it would be cheaper to reposition the road for the factory connections than to use trucks or trains to move the steel.

    • @CharliePryor
      @CharliePryor  11 місяців тому

      Train construction uses more steel than auto, and the auto manufacturing here will not use more than I will provide with this approach. Train manufacturing is not happening in this location

      They do exist, if I allowed towns to be generated at map creation. Much like churches, I can use the picker tool to copy and paste pre-existing buildings that way. - it would be instant build and free though, so I have them all disabled anyways. I could still add more variety in housing around the towns, they just have lower quality of living.

      If you enter the C+H+E cheat menu you can switch to landscape editor mode. There you can pick the villages houses and place the blueprints. Remember to step out of editor mode to continue playing like normal.

    On the train end station you put one track coming in from the left and one track leaving from the right. Is it meant to be like that or you missed it?

    What about waste collection? I think a few parking lots need to be converted to bin collection.

    • @CharliePryor
      @CharliePryor  11 місяців тому +1

      Every house holds 0.12 tons of waste. That’s the same amount as all other housing too, including Dnipro. In other words, because of low density, they will take care of themselves… same as suburban homes. ;)
