Totally agree on everything you said although, it's sometimes hard to distinguish the difference between this synth and some older classics. Perhaps a bit sharper. Another good period for the Roland Corporation synthesizer wise. I wonder how people will perceive the Zen Core models in 20+ years? I love all this polyphony and smooth integration they're giving us nowadays. The concern is whether or not the support continues into the future as things become more complicated. Let's see!
I always enjoy your reviews, you're a fantastic musician! I really regret not picking one of these up a couple years ago when the price was around 600 dollars, they've gotten very expensive these days. It's definitely a classic.
AN1x says, unison on any waveform.. Is it the same? Sounds the same...... When Yamaha released a JD8000 factory bank, I sold the JP8k... Though I admit, I missed the panel accessablty........ love the JP8k... But , I wont sell the collection of all my other Jup's.. My Point? Saying "Supersaw is unmatched" is why I've replied. Let me reiterate... A factory JD8000 patch bank for the AN1x... Supersaws and all, you wouldn't know.
I have one of these and love it. The SuperSaw is a classic and still sounds better than the imitators. It actually has better polyphony than the JP-8000 keyboard version (12 notes instead of 8). The form factor is a bit of a nuisance as Ujio-san said, since it doesn't really fit in either a rack or keyboard stand. Also, it sounds pretty digital compared to newer virtual analogs. But it's still a classic and worth getting. Sunrizer on the iPad is somewhat similar, if you're looking for a software alternative.
@@N1h1L3 You can put it in a rack, sure, but it uses a lot of vertical space (4U's I think), so it isn't ideal. At least it's an option, which isn't the case for a lot of newer modules.
Hello, listen Im Gonna ask you for advise and be honest. I just purchased this item but I need advise on the Arpeggiator which isn't working. It's up to you if you give me your time but I'd really appreciate it. Here we go.... I'm running midi out of Focusrite 18i20 to midi in of JV1080 then midi out of that to midi in of JP8080 then midi out of that to midi in of Focusrite. I get sound from the JP8080 but the Arp dosnt work. I've seen I should use Midi out of my KBD to KBD in of JP8080 then mess with midi thru but when I do it glitches the midi Thru. Have you any advise or how do you activate your Arp on your JP8080 I'm sorry to bother you but I'd really appreciate your help if you will.
それらの字幕が待ち遠しいです。 私の日本語はひどいです。;) Nice to see that Katsunori still has his time machine. This unit looks fresh from 1998. Great video. Hopefully this one pops up on the Roland cloud, soon.
Problem with JP is every patch that's good is always Supersaw. The normal oscillators are fairly meh, and I don't often bother to use them. But no other Supersaw matches the JP.

This was my first Roland synth and I still love it after all these years!
Beautiful JP8080 JP8000 sounds. And still widely used for those who dare to get to know how it works better!
Thanks, I'm drooling now. Even though I already own the Roland JP8080 that is 10-voice digital with analogue modulation and sounds so awesome!
Got one of those when they were new, still not tired of it... :)
What a * sparkling * and genre-defining digital sound. It holds its place proudly in Roland's history!
people who diss the jp8080 are fuckheads.. its legendary

About time I got mine out of its box! Bought one when they first came out and it's been living on a shelf in the studio ever since...😎
Wanna sell it?
English sub-title is available!

It sounds like cheap plastic, but the Virus is even worse.

I remember Sunrizer, the VST version is somehow buggy because the keys oddly latch on by itself
@@bmhater1283 That's too bad. I've only used the iPad version, which works very well.

probably just a matter of time until it is on their Cloud service.

Love this synth.
I have a Novation SL49 mk3. Would the JP-8080 be a better choice over a JP-8000?
Yes. I have both but use the 8080 more just because it has more features and polyphony.

Nah, ...remember you sold it for a reason.
Plus it sounds boring in today's synth market.
The supersaw on this thing was sagoi nei. Don't forget this was the synthesizer that brought the world Darudes Sandstorm.
Pin pin pin pin pin.
So what? Ahaha, D's Sandstorm is musically totally low class. Super annoyingly monotonous, extremely devoid of content and dispensable.
X suerte tengo guardado uno de estos OK.
in retrospect the Korg Radias was almost the exact same minus the supersaw

Wish I'd never sold mine even though I own a JP-X.
Jupiter X is WAAAAAY better
Some of those pads sound so much like Mario 64 sounds hehe
I like this analog synthesizer.
Close. Still very digital, SUUUUPER aliasy, but it's a virtual analog. despite the aliasing, I quite like it
