Levain's franchised up but I remember when it was the one small bakery on the Upper West Side -- still my fave.

I really, really hope that they will open some levain bakery shops in France, or at least europe. These cookies were the best I ever ate when I came to the US for vacation, and I cannot find any other shops that does this here in france (also because cookies aren't as popular).

If you buy darker brown sugar, you can throw a few marshmallows in there to keep it from becoming rock hard, not sure why it works, but my dad told me to do it, and it seems to work like a charm!
I may be alone in this opinion, but I personally prefer not to have my chocolate chip cookies overloaded with chocolate. I like to still be able to taste some of the dough. Although maybe that's just because the family recipe I use has a super delicious dough even if it's plain. I haven't really looked to order chocolate chip cookies at bakeries lol.
