Here's an update and key change of the original I did a couple years ago. I'm going through some old tracks and remixing / transposing for Alphajams... Enjoy!

----🎸ABOUT THE GRAPHICS 🎸 ----
Your goal as a soloist is to create MELODY. Our neck diagrams give you the notes you can use to create that melody in REAL TIME.
🎸THE LAYERS
Think of the Diagrams as 3 layers of information:
1. PENTATONIC - The pentatonic scale works all the time and almost never changes, so this is the basic level.
2. MODE - The mode will always be the pentatonic PLUS 2 NOTES (modes have 7 notes). The mode can change depending on the chords (modal interchange).
3. CHORD - The chord layer shows you the notes of the chord changes (aka the HARMONY) in REAL TIME. Outgoing notes get smaller and fade out, incoming notes will fade in, so you know what notes to go for next.
🎸THE NOTE LABELS
The note labels tell us about the way the notes SOUND or BEHAVE in music.
R = ROOT - This is the MAIN NOTE. The key center, the tonal center, the BIG BOSS.
m2 = MINOR 2ND - a very dark, unstable note in a chord or scale, usually wants to go to the ROOT.
M2 = MAJOR 2ND - a happier, more stable color note, often added to chords for major flavor. I'm looking at you Jimi.
m3 = MINOR 3RD - This note makes a chord or scale MINOR.
M3 = MAJOR 3RD - This note makes a chord or scale MAJOR.
P4 = PERFECT 4TH - This note is not very stable in harmony so it is often considered a suspension, which means it wants to resolve to a chord tone like the 3RD.
D5 = DIMINISHED 5TH - 🤘🤘 The most unstable note of them all. Diabolus in musica 😈 The Devil. Also, the b5 BLUES NOTE!
P5 = PERFECT 5TH - This, along with the ROOT, is the MAIN SUPPORT of a chord or scale (think power chords 🤘🤘)
m6 = MINOR 6th - A very unstable, vibey minor sound. Usually wants to go to P5.
M6 = MAJOR 6TH - A VERY GROOVY major sound. This note gives the Dorian Mode its Dorian-ness!
m7 = MINOR 7TH - A very important note in dominant 7 and m7 chords. It's also a really great note in the MINOR PENTATONIC SCALE.
M7 = MAJOR 7TH - This note is found in MAJOR, HARMONIC and MELODIC MINOR scales. It sounds very DISSONANT against the ROOT. It's also the reason you hate soloing in the IONIAN mode.
The label numbers are names come from the MUSIC INTERVAL SYSTEM. Google it!
In the AlphaJams App (currently in Beta) you will be able to control the note labels, which layer, and how much of the neck you see!

@@Megapolaris Check out the latter 1/2 with the Live CAGED chords!
Hope it's not too messy
My tremolo arm made some overtime. Not a Zappa fan but this one is great.
Awesome!!
your Zappa tracks are the best man dunno what id do without your page thanks for jamming with us everyday
That Bb7 is such a cool chord right there.
Agreed!
SWEEEET........... thank you for this. Frank Zappa said in an interview that by far most of his guitar leads were in pentatonic minor........ saying it in a "that's all I'm doing, it's not as complex as it sounds" manner :) He loved odd time signatures like 13/8, jumping to another signature, and it just flowed.
Any fans of Zappa's guitar leads, and of course the curious should listen to his "Fuck Yourself" collaboration with Steve Vai....... spectacular.
The first time I'd ever heard Zappa, 1969, one of my uncles returned to Maryland from California with the "Uncle Meat" vinyl........ he'd been turned on to the band by a few of the Mothers of Invention who lived in a trailer in my other uncle's back yard :) That album was the first-ever achievement of recording 40 separate tracks......... prior to that the limit was 8 tracks. Talk about "Invention", huh? One more Zappa amazement you'll find around these parts is Ruth Underwood's account of the vibes parts Zappa would write on the tour bus......... it's like a bottle of 32nd note triplets was spilled on the paper............ and he wrote harmony parts in 2nd scale degree so when she's playing an arpeggio like A-C-F-G, she's playing B-D-G-A an octave up :) My father used to say "somebody needs to arrest that man....... that shouldn't even be legal!!!!!", which was actually a very highly qualified sarcastic compliment.
theres a lot of audio choices you made here that give it that 70s vibe. its the drums (snare, hi hat and kick) and bass. fantastic
Yeah - it’s definitely my favorite production style!
When it hits that b5, the planets align 😁

Thanks!
I can't see! I can only shred!!!
Haha
Excellent!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥Unison bends make it sound mean with gain . Don't think Zappa used pinch harmonics but they sound good too.
Hell yeah they do!
@@nowyoushred I can share my improvisation if you like . I can tag “ now you shred “
And then he started whippin on my favorite baby seal, with a lead filled snowshoe…

Nanook rubs it I think
Confused how a Bb7 is in Dm though 😅
