I’d love to see to see more ED’s based on Kami. Personally, an Amaterasu and Tsukiyomi dragon would be epic. A beast that actively emits radiation and maybe a little bioenergy, and some kind of creature that chases after it to absorb its light and eat it, mirroring the story of the moon and night always chasing after the sun and day in the sky in Shinto... kind of.
@@darkmoon2503 for an amaterasu themed elder dragon, I think some scales should be reflective as a reference to amaterasu's relation with mirrors as a symbol (these scales would probably be what shoot and hold energy as well). The tail would end in a claw-like appendage as a reference to the yatagarasu. It would only show up at day, while escaping into caves at night due to the myth of amaterasu and the cave. I'm not sure about the design or much else though, so I would love to hear suggestions.
I would love that element in the game. I personally wouldn’t want to “hurt” the Kami and Yokai. Because they seem like interesting aspects of the game, and I don’t like fighting in games sometimes, haha.
To be fair, everything in Rise except the Elder Dragons can be captured nonlethally. The Elder Dragons are too "unnatural" to be contained, so it's necessary to slay them.
I love the fact that every monster gets this kind of Noh theater intro..and I think there needs to be a video out there somewhere that does a literal translation of the song/poem to see what they really say vs what the English localization team put. Also going off that real world reason for the cuts..the "Vacuum" reminds me of the anime Basilisk where one of the ninja in that has a jutsu called "Kamaitachi" which unlike Temari from Naruto's version which uses a fan to generate a cutting whirlwind, this ninja, Chikuma Koshiro, creates a vacuum when he breaths and he's also a master of kama-jutsu, using a pair of kama/sickles as his weapon of choice.
Izuchi's fangs might also be a callback to the "vampiric" Izuna. I'm no expert of course, just pointing that out from the perspective of a western guy.

Agreed! Great Izuchi have a nice design in general, plus it's kinda cool seeing it's minions synchronise with it. All in all, it makes a nice change to the usual Jaggi fights, without making it too difficult for a first-time hunter.
As someone who lives in a cold, windy place I can attest to having found random cuts and scraps forming (usually across my hands) with no obvious explanation. Also, I super glad to see this sort of content since I love mythology the world over.
4:42 The tail blade part explains that one episode of Digimon Ghost Game where a Reppamon's tail rebelled against it and people thought Reppamon was a Kamitachi. I didn't even know it was based on them but I checked and it indeed was. There's also Kyukimon, would have been a perfect episode for Kyukimon to make an anime debut, especially when Adventure: had freaking Valvemon.
This feels nostalgic. No Gaijin omnipresent voice, just Lil G showing off what he’s passionate about. I know it’s still the same PERSON behind the mic, but I just like how he’s managed to keep this persona, and divide it amongst two separate characters in his videos. Keep up the great work, Gaijin; you’re doing the kami’s work.

The Dosbiscus is the only remnant of this naming scheme that persists in English. Great Izuchi, however, is "Osa Izuchi" in Japanese to highlight its Japanese origins. The "osa" prefix derives directly from Japanese 長 (osa), meaning "leader" or "chief", unlike the more ambiguous "dos". It's also worth noting that the "dos" prefix appears to only refer to something that is big, as evidenced by its use in item names, whereas the "osa" prefix specifically implies a power structure. This fight with Great Izuchi is comparable to the fight with Alpha Floatzel in Legends Arceus. Overgrown weasel with a thirst for violence and a crew of smaller equally bloodthirsty weasels.
I am looking forward to diving into the great monsters, old and new, in Monster Hunter Rise with Little G. Great to start us off with something discussed on the channel before, and going deeper than last time we saw our favorite nefarious wind blade weasels.

I have always been so confused why Temari from Naruto summoned a weasel to use with cutting wind techniques. Now it makes sense. Cool. I wonder if there are any other surprisingly ninja or I sterd sting culture stuff in the most un-ninja ninja anime.
Don't forget, in Jurassic Park, they also had Raptors forming groups of three when hunting. One as a distraction, with the other two flanking the target. That would make sense as part if the designs inspiration going from rodent to dino.
Interesting that MH decided to base 2 monsters on kamaitachi, previously it was Nargacuga. Nargacuga also has blades on its arms/wings which is its primary weapon. It also has a deviant called Silverwind Nargacuga which can slice through the air so fast it creates air blades which are officially called kamaitachi. Nargacuga is also so well known as a kamaitachi, Nioh2's kamaitachi is nicknamed Nargacuga by players.
I hope Little G goes more in-depth with the characters as well because I want to hear his take on the guild priestesses because I have just about had it with everyone literally going Balls to the walls over them and then everyone just through Handler to the Wayside.🙄😤😒

Oddly enough, the mention of Izuna made me think of the NGNL character. Specifically that she was a high-speed opponent with ridiculous accuracy, and when she used her special abilities, she could literally double-jump or boost-jump from the surface of the air. Give her a sword and... Yeah, I know she's supposed to be a fox character, but I can absolutely see her having Kamaitachi skills and abilities. Her Blood Destruction skill is also a 'blood' related skill so... That's where my tangent ends.
super excited for this new sub-series. I hadn't really given yokai much attention up until this game, and I'm digging just how much attention to detail there is for these yokai-monsters

Would be interesting to see the cultural reasons behind the addition of returning monsters, like why beasts like Basarios or Tigrex are in the game as well. I can already guess basarios is based off of a certain fox spirit turned death stone
What's with the 9 Tailed Fox, *Snow Faced Fox* I think it's called; In the Shrine Ruins? It's on top of a huge Gate Directly on 5, in the Shrine Ruins; where the Remobra fly around. At one of the highest points you can climb. It mainly appears at Night, at random. I Photographed it for the Endemic Life Notes... not sure what it amounts to though.
Magmamalo is probably my favorite new monster, but Goss Harag is definitely the one I am the most curious about, can't wait for the rest of the monsters.

Are these the same guys that influenced the Poltergeist ... I had to look up their name on the Okami wiki and sure enough, one of their official names is kamaitachi!
I figured that Gaijin would have a field day with Rise. I’m glad, since I’m always down for more monster hunter and I’ve been loving the new yokai monsters. I still hope we get an orochi serpent elder dragon at some point, although I know that there are probably all kinds of technical issues with making a multi-headed monster skeleton work.
I got to say I personally prefer the monster intros in English because the Japanese version well they don't sound as threatening maybe it's because I still don't know Japanese but it just sounds like the person is singing rather than saying what's on screen and what's on-screen does sound intimidating but not all singing sounds scary
Although I'd love to find out the origins of Rakna-Kadaki, I saw the Aknosom and immediately thought of the yokai that looks like an umbrella. That's the only thing I know about that yokai and I would love to hear more about it.

Great Izuchi is actually one of my new favorite monsters, and I love how you can now gear up yourself and your plaico/mutt as a trio.

The choice of it being a Wyvern also mixes well with the concept...they tended to have a stinger or bladed tail as well

The more I learn about Kamaitachi, the more I realize that the titan Venadek from Huntik: Secrets and Seekers might just be inspired by them, too.

the awesome thing is even monsters that are old were picked obviously cause of similarity to certain Yokai and folklore *eyes Khezu*
I think that the Odogaron from world also fits this role, a giant red weasel monster that flips around and drains your blood through the cuts
