  • In this travel vlog i bring you along to one of the least visited countries in the world; Turkmenistan. We explore the whitest city on earth, where only white buildings and cars can be found. Ashgabat is also known as the marble city. We head out in to the desert and visit the burning Darvaza crater, also known as the Door to Hell. We camp in the desert and explore what Turkmenistan has to offer.

I am Grace on Tour and travel has been my biggest passion ever since I can remember. My very first international trip was done two weeks after I was born. In the summer of 2018 I started posting on this channel as I set off on a trip around Asia before studying a semester in Taiwan. During this time my love for travel grew and I tried to travel to new places during my weekends off from university. Throughout uni I made travel a priority and worked multiple side jobs to fund my travels. After doing my thesis in Hong Kong I graduated in June 2019. At this point I decided to take a gap year and go traveling. My goal was to visit as many countries as possible. I soon realized that travel is what I love and wan´t to keep on doing. I now dream of visiting every country in the world.

Bukhara and Samarqand used to be right up there with the Pyramids and Taj Mahal, but even so, it's one of those places you'd read about, but know you'd never visit. Uzbekistan used to be fairly well known, but now I do feel it's popularity has heavily dwindled. Kazakhstan is byfar the most popular country in the region. The rest are practically unknown. I think it is the most underrated region for sure. But it's literally in the center of the world, so too far for most people to get to, and they don't really market themselves. Though to be fair, if people want mountains and desert, they'll visit places that are far more accessible, and many people also have mountains and desert in their own countries. Personally, as an American, the only Central Asian country I feel that's worth visiting for a PROPER trip, is Uzbekistan.

Very interesting and remote Grace and the crater like a giant barbecue is rather scary. Thanks for a great video as always.

We are doing Kygrystan and Kazakstan in about a week and we wanted to do Tajikistan too! Is it true you have to travel through a tour company? We are still thinking of adding it to our list!

I know you have a goal of visiting every country, but what made you go to Turkmenistan at this point in time? It's not an easy place to get to, and not one that many people visit.

It was part of a Central Asia tour that I had booked, so a good timing to visit. Also it’s easiest to visit the country together with a tour group.
