    2. When your child comes to you with an issue... make an appointment with a trained child abuse therapist.
    3. Call the police!

Asking too many questions, asking the wrong questions can come off as coaching. Also an hour in a toddlers mind is quite different compared to that of an adult.
I have seen abusers lawyers use parents leading questions of the child against them in court stating they were coaching the child to make false complaints.
I have seen kids become fearful because parents lose their cool and become visibly/emotionally angry when discussing the abuse. This can frighten a child into silence or a lie fearing they are "in trouble or hurting family" by telling.

A 4 year old isn’t going to fully understand the idea of an abuser or being a victim, they might get that this is good or this is bad, and they are going to remember experiences and if somebody did something to them nobody else had done that will be significant enough for them to bring it up. So I don’t think it was a bad idea for them to do it because she is simple going to tell them what he did because she remembers what he did, puts him on the spot because he has to explain why this little girl is saying something she clearly remembers

But memories is not what I was talking about. Especially with babies and toddlers, the way we interact with them is crucial to their development, regardless of if they'll remember it or not. It's all about setting a positive environment for their growth and preventing any damage from occuring.
Making her repeat *again,* in front of THE PERSON WHO ABUSED HER mind you, is *unacceptable.*
Do you not remember what it was like to only understand about 25% of what serious things adults were talking about, and feeling scared of grown ups when they towered over you like giants would over Jack? Just because they don't understand, doesn't mean they don't feel the gravity of the situation.

Parents need to teach their children correct words for their bodies and teach them there is no shame or awkwardness around using the correct anatomical words for their bodies regardless of age. It’s only awkward if the parent makes it awkward and that could’ve delayed this child getting help had she told this cookie story to someone else like a teacher who wouldn’t know what she’s on about. Also if a detective or children’s forensic worker asks her to specify WHAT he did to her and with what part of his body they’ll have a hard time knowing exactly what she’s explaining if she said his cookie on her cookie and can’t specify anatomically so they can charge and convict him correctly they’ll need to know if what he did amounts to r*pe or assault/m*lestation

These videos break my heart. A young child’s life has been changed forever. That will always be in their subconscious effecting them for the rest of their life. It deeply saddens me and makes me cry. I’ve seen the effects of child s*xual assault. Child m*lestation is so sick.

It’s always odd to me that a parent would say, “I don’t bath my child because I wouldn’t want someone to say I molested them”. Why would that even be a question as their parent?? Not saying dad did anything, but I’ve heard so many people say that. What is going on in your head that you think someone would question you giving your child a bath?

That little girl will always remember who believed her and who didn't
My daughter was molested by her father's cousin when she was around 4. They were watching a movie and he "tickled" her down there.. and he told her not to tell.
Her father and his whole family never believed her.
She is now 19 and says she has never forgotten how they reacted and treated her like she was lying.

Rewatching this episode after some years I realize how twisted this family is. The grandma comes out yelling at her kids, she doesn't believe the granddaughter, none of them knew Jimmy was giving the little girl baths, they refer to private parts as cookie?
What the hell is going on??
