Isn't that the truth... I walked up to the arcade lot that existed in my hometown. All the old shops I used to go to had been turned into different stores which was sad but it was neat to see how they had changed. I wanted to see what they had done to the arcade, only to turn the corner and see that it had been turned into a wall. A big flat wall, where the large arcade was. Covered in concert flyers that had faded in the sun. The huge space behind it, filled in, and hidden from the world. Nobody around me could even tell it had ever existed. I could still see faded images of my memories behind that wall. The fighting game tournaments. The crowds that formed behind us playing DDR that spilled onto the street. I'll just have to take them with me.
Mario: "You ever think, Luigi, that we’re just... a grain of sand on the beach of the universe? I mean, we go on these big adventures, saving kingdoms and racing karts, but in the grand scheme of things... what are we?" Luigi: "Yeah, Mario, sometimes I wonder about that. Like, we're always jumpin' and runnin', but it's like we're just a tiny metallic spark in the big ol' gears of the world. There’s a whole universe out there, full of stars, galaxies... and here we are, stompin' Goombas." Mario: "Exactly! No matter how many castles we storm, how many Bowser battles we win, the universe just keeps spinning, like we’re barely a blip." Luigi: "But maybe that’s the beauty of it, bro. Even if we’re just a small part, we still make a difference. We light up the gears, keep ‘em turning, even if it’s just for a moment." Mario: "Yeah, maybe you're right, Luigi. Even if we’re just a spark, we shine while we can. And maybe that’s enough." Luigi: "As long as we’ve got each other, Mario. Grain of sand or spark, we’ll keep going." Mario: "That’s-a the spirit!"
Mario would be right there beside Luigi. There to anchor him. "It's a Stone, Luigi. You didn't make it." And he'd be right. We all have stones, seemingly chiseled just for us. But the material which provided the form existed long, long before our tools touched it. Luigi would then go on to become a family man. A father yes, but if need be, a Mama Luigi too
Reflecting on the life you've lived and the world around you can make the moments of fun you share with your brother even more precious. Also, the stairway shot is brilliant.
Posting this today of all days gives this an added significance I can’t even describe. Seeing Mario and Luigi with grey shots of New York in the background, looking absolutely bewildered…

I just witnessed a whole new perspective of reality and dreaming beyond imagination, i just figured out that our whole purpose is to evolve only our spirits, my foolishness of trying to achive "perfection" was all a lie to myself all along, at the end all we do is prepare ourselvs to face the end of reality by the blink of an eye.
I’d watch a whole movie’s worth of this to be completely honest. They way you draw all the characters feels so fresh and alive, like I could meet them irl kind of alive.
One may think that humans, as a species, is a really frail one. Sure, we are the peak of efficency, yet, our skin doesnt resist attacks from other creatures, our body is made to shutdown after a certain time, it ravages itself in the search for nutrients if neccesary, and a whole lot of other things. One may think living as a human being, starting from the biological sense (and then adding the niusance of human dynamics such as economics, social relationships, politics, education, healthcare) its futile. But when you stomp a mf goomba for the first time, it all makes sense

The weather forecast silently presented itself in the background; steady rain throughout the week.
