igrotum is the only replica factory that sells and manufactures their watches themselves also have original serial numbers. That's why they are the best
Around 1975, I was a very young GI a bit intoxicated with some friends leaving a bar in Seoul Korea. On the corner while waiting for our taxi, I spotted a vendor selling fake watches. The Rolex Submariner attracted by eye and for the whopping price of $10 in went into my pocket. After watching your video, I went and found my fake automatic Rolex in my sock drawer. Had no expectations it would work but after only a few minutes the hands started to move. Been wearing it for about a week and thus far it's kept great time. I take it off at night and am surprised it is still running when I wake. Yep, it's a fake but now I'm almost 67 and just looking at that watch brings back some darn good memories and big questions where have the years gone.
I was friends with a guy stationed there during Nam who had a nice Tudor Sub that he traded a fake Rolex Sub for. He bought the fake Rolex from a street corner vendor because it looked pretty decent, and after a couple of weeks it got banged up and scratched. One of his fellow servicemen remarked that he wished he had the money to get a Rolex Sub, but all he could afford was the Tudor. My friend asked him if he wanted to swap, and the guy took the fake Rolex and my friend walked away with a real Tudor. He told him that he wanted the Tudor because he wouldn't be as sad if it got banged up like the "Rolex".
Bought one (a Fake Rolex) in Dubai. It never lost a second, but had to reset it on most mornings, but a great watch until I got over-confident and wore it in a sauna. Bought a fake Omega (battery) at around the same time, both around £20/£25 and still have it and, after around 10 years, it still keeps perfect time. It is said' imitation is the greatest form of flattery'. Why they pursue fakes is open to question as they are only bought (usually) by those who cannot afford the real thing. Those who can afford the real thing would (usually) not be seen dead with a fake.
Double irony: Rolex is what got me into replica watches. Replica watches are what *really* got me into Rolex. Let me explain- I love the look of Rolexes. But couldn't possibly understand why they cost so much. I was more than happy to buy the "same" thing for $600. Then I started to notice the subtle (and meaningful) differences. I would even upgrade my replicas with high quality aftermarket parts. Finally, I realized it's that last 5% attention to detail that makes a real Rolex worth 500% more to me. I now own a genuine Datejust and GMT Master, and I never ever would have been able to appreciate them for the masterpieces that they are had I not been into replicas. Besides, the replica watch community is often more knowledgeable and appreciative of the genuine watches than the gen community! So make that triple irony ;)
Matt Simmons Hi Matt, congrats on your purchase of the Datejust & GTM. See if you can find a Servicing video on UT. That is where you really see a difference in quality.
Would Rolex be able to copy an Omega down to the finest detail? I buy homage watches because I love the look of a rolex but I thoroughly enjoy paying less than one hundredth of the price for a beautiful watch.
I bought a Submariner replica in Mexico for 65.00 after a lot of bargaining. It fooled a couple of experts and was beautiful. If anyone commented on it, I was quick to disclose its orgin. I would wear it off and on and it lasted about five years. I had fun with it even thought I knew it was a fake. For the life of me I can’t imagine anyone paying 10,000 for a watch!
@Steve The way you talk all Rolex's are like this, which isnt true, most rolex's lose value as soon as they leave the show room floor like most other products. Most Rolex's lose not gain value over time
@@Edward1312 Buying pre-owned, may be an investment since you’re likely to sell the watch for around the same price, or a bit more if lucky. It’s more about sentimental value - same reason why someone would purchase a Mercedes AMG or BMW M over just a regular E-class or 3-series (and to an extent I suppose to show off; but many AMG drivers usually go with the flow of traffic, just like I don’t see Rolex owners flashing their wrists at people).
I loved my Rolex but every 3 years It would slow down and had to send off to be cleaned. About 6 weeks and $300 -$600 later it show up in the mail. And that was the 80’s 90’s and 2000’s. Finally sold it after the last cleaning. Switched to Japanese watches with no maintenance
From what I was told they can get it exactly like the genuine but they don’t do it so they can release a “better” replica every few years with and increased price. For example Noob V7 , V8 and now V9 etc. This is a splendid channel and it will thrive and flourish over time!👍🏼
This is very educational. I always thought the quartz tick tock of the second hand would give away the identity of a fake Rolex. But this replica second hand moves as smoothly as the genuine Rolex. And it's accurate to boot. You are so right about the day arriving soon when it will be impossible to tell the difference between the replica and the genuine without opening the watch for inspection. Then the difference will be obvious. I cannot understand how this replica can sell for only $100. This is most remarkable. The Chinese who created this replica are truly gifted craftsmen to be able to do this and make a profit at the same time. It's hard to believe.
the problem not the 100$ , it is how the real Rolex cost , is it 1000$ or 2k and we have to pay 16,000. for it. so depressing. I plan to get 10 replicas for my new trip to china. and get red of my real one soon.
@@mattportnoyTLV They now sell Rolex 1 to 1 replicas that are 100% exact replicas. Literally the same materials, jewels etc, they do run about 800-1000$ and if it wasn't for the serial number engravings, even a Rolex dealership would accept the replica as genuine. It goes to show how Rolex and many other watch making companies have been duping people into spending big $ for a mechanical device not worth more than a couple of thousands to tens of thousands. that profit curve be like 1000% :))
You need to understand there is not just one company that makes the replica, there are dozens. They range anywhere from $200-$1100 for a replica. The one he has in this video is $600 I believe.
First thing I noticed was the day/date figures were fatter or coarser on the left (fake.) The next was that the numbers were imprecise and had ragged edges under the magnifier. Great tips, thank you.
same.. but is an easy fix. It is scary they are getting so close on a cheap replica. Imagine a time where is no difference, where even an AD can't see the difference, even on the movement.
What caught my eye upon close comparison was the font differences between the fake and real one. The fake one's font has the letters more smashed together (specifically the "Swiss Made" and "Officially Certified" letters, whereas the real one has the font a little more spaced out between the letters, creating an overall more polished look.
Submariner from the 1980's, in all honesty look worse than today's clones. The crystal back then were plexiglass, bracelets were cheap. indicies and bezels are much more durable and refined...but the movement? Of course, that is a differnt story.
This debate will rage and rage. I always loved 4 Rooms, the TV programme. The idea that value is simply what people are prepared to pay. 50K for a 'Banksy' found in a skip was one of my favourites. Rolex is a particularly curious case. I like them, I'd wear one. 10K for a straight blck Sub...is complete and utter madness, but it shows how skilled Rolex are at limiting supply deliberately to stimulate extreme demand. Ultimately it's customers are the ones forcing the prices up...and feel even more pleased to pay more due to the exclusivity. A very bizarre simbiotic relationship. Customers are simultaneously pissed off at the ever increasing prices and yet inwardly delighted that they can afford it....and almost everyone else can't. Luxury goods are a bizarre and strange world that fascinate me as a designer. The real monetary value of a Submariner? I'd say £1500 and there'd still be a lot of margin. My stone cold view as someone who manufactures things.
Very informative and very interesting. But I was still waiting for you to compare the insides side-by-side, would definitely like to see the difference.
thanks for sharing this. Ironically , we are forgetting that if a replica can so similar to the real , missing only the finest details, it just goes to show how overpriced a real rolex is.
You're forgetting about quality though. Last thing I want is the watch to fail while having to keep track of time while diving. The fake ones aren't held to a standard like the real ones are.
Great review, and thankyou. I work the Bicycle trade where things are slightly the opposite in some cases. The cheaper asian bike frames are of a better quality of manufacturing than the top big brands which at times can cost triple the amount for a single frame kit! These guys really have obtained a great deal of experience in copying but also producing high quality products.
Good video, very informative. The steel used by Rolex isn't special. It's used in corrosion resistant steel tube and even seen in chimney flue liners. Gotta love that Rolex marketing...
About 12 years ago I bought an imitation Omega Seamaster Professional Automatic Chronometer for £62 delivered including insurance. I was such a good copy that many people thought it to be an original. About six years ago it stopped working so rather look foolish by taking it to a local watch repair shop I gave it to my friend who said he'd like to play about with the movement etc. About an hour after leaving my house he phoned to say it was working perfectly and I owed him for a new battery so overlooking the fact that it wasn't automatic not only did it look and feel like the real thing it had kept perfect time for six years. Unfortunately I somehow managed to strip the thread on the crown so it won't screw in and lock so when I wear it it catches and does not keep good time but the last time I saw it it was still working.
Well at least that explains why a sixty pound 'automatic' watch managed to keep perfect time for six years! The 'beauty' of quartz, even the cheapest examples tend to keep GREAT time unless they're broken or low on battery.
Great video as always, and I think the time is here in 2023 for you to do an update on either a submariner with date or a Daytona, compared to a super clone, which looks simply amazing all the way from the fit finish and movement.
This video was almost 3 years ago, and now the Clean Factory replicas are damn near perfect. I've seen one beside a real rolex and they have perfected their craft! It's scary how perfect they are now.
@@ianlulhamthere are replica forums which go into the minutest detail about differences between the genuine and fake. Those are more useful to the replica makers.
Clean factory are very sought after now as they are the nearest 'replicas' currently. Around $850/£675 and they're as near as dammit to the authentic!!!
I bought a submariner copy of $40 in Bangkok about 20 years ago. It's still in perfect condition, but like yours the dot at the top is off centre and has dulled a lot. Mine doesn't have the glide lock adjustment, perhaps that wasn't around 20 years ago. I was told that they are made in Vietnam. I would have liked you to take the back off to see the inside differences. A jeweller friend did that to mine and said it looked like a Citizen automatic movement.
lf your watch has a Citizen movement, you're in good shape. lt'll probably still be working when you're not. Although you won't be around to notice, maybe your descendants will enjoy having it as an heirloom.
@@mirandahotspring4019 l bought a new Rolex "red" Submariner 1680 in Grand Cayman back in the Pleistocene, when they were new for about $340. It was nice, but not that great for accuracy in celestial navigation, which was its primary purpose for me. When Seiko came out with their quartz movement Sports 100 models, l got one of those and stopped using the Rolex. About ten years later, after barely escaping alive from the jaws of a self described preying mantis, whose females eat their mates, aka, my ex, and needing money, l foolishly sold it for what seemed like a handsome profit of about 300%. Can't say l miss wearing it, but the knowledge that they're now worth somewhere between $25,000 and $30k stings a bit. Maybe l'll be smarter in the next lifetime, but l wouldn't bet on it..
I bought a real bluesy sub recently just because I can. I bought a fake sub 20 years ago for 60 bucks and it still works but will turn your wrist green when the plating wears off and it's brass underneath. But the point is I'm seriously impressed it still works great after 20 years
I live in Yorkville in Toronto and bought a Submariner from Rolex. But I am also from Hong Kong so getting top replicas is pretty easy and commonplace. So I wore a $600 CDN Noob v10 replica into the rolex store where I bought it from, and the dealer looked, asked how I'm enjoying it, and didn't notice it wasnt the Gen. I even took it off and tried on a few other offerings, dealer handled the watch and still not a peep. I didnt have the guts to tell him it was a fake tho. lol
Maybe they're trained to not cause a scene by pointing it out. I mean, big companies are always pretty anal about customer experience so it's a possibility.
No Dumbass moronMajority off Rolex owners are well dressed well groomed. Wear designer clothes. Always wear shoes loafers If you wearing jeans trainers T-shirt, know come on that's lowlife thug Street junk.
Thanks for the test. First main discrepancy was the text wasn’t sharp. But a dead giveaway was the dots on the top of the bezel on the triangle was misaligned and not center soon as I saw that with in the first 30 seconds we knew that was the fake
My husband wore a fake for 50 years before he lost it overboard. I only once had it cleaned and looked at and got charged $25. Best watch he ever had, never lost time.
I would have loved to compare the insides. I was in China a long time ago and bout 3 fake Rolex. Took them home and gave to wife and son. Plus I have one. They all stopped working within 3 to 4 weeks. Took them apart and there was a few nylon gears that messed with metal gears. That was the problem because the metal gear wore the nylon gears teeth down to where they would not turn anymore. There were 3 levels of these fakes and I did buy the cheapest ones.
Mechanical engineer here, with a bit of metallurgical knowledge. To say that 904L stainless steel is Rolex's special steel is a bit of an exaggeration. 904L is a quite common material, and is used a lot chemical industry, in piping and other equipment coming in contact with corrosive chemicals. It's more corrosive resistant (pitting specifically) than 316L in certain environments, but actually easier to work with, because it's slightly softer. Of course, it's also slightly more expensive. There's really no rational reason for using 904L in a diver's watch, unless you intend to dive in acid. 316L works well in sea water.
They are getting so good now, wow. I could still tell just by the small details - I paused your video in the beginning and looking at them side by side could easily tell the fake. If you look very close, fakes always skimp on little things. Like print, etching, screws, the way things line up (or don't).
He bought inferior replica grade watch for the sake of the video, he knows there are enhanced replicas that it would be hard to spot , in fact in some replicas the factory beats the authentic watch thickness by making a bit thinner case for the replica
You've pretty much confirmed the one I found is a fake. In a lot of details it is pretty good, but the outer bezel has play, and the bracelet is a bit beat up, and the crown on the clasp lock is entirely missing. There is a bit of play where the band connects to the watchcase. The numbers on the rotating bezel are a bit discolored off white the crystal is beautiful and the bubble really magnifies. S/No. TAAA 1211. I live on rural Oahu and found it on the floor of the bus.
@@patrickprendergast9589 Life is OK, I infrequently use a watch. The "Rolex"is too small for my wrist. Around here, Filipino people seem particularly fascinated by them. I live on the other side of the island from Eternity. I've been there decades ago, but it is kinda small & a rocky clamber to get to. Out here are beautiful wide sandy beaches. I have aged out of beaches, and was never a "Cool guy".
You can get the Submariner styling with the Seiko internals too. Search "Pagani Design PD1639" I've got a few of these. Very well built and the Seiko NH35 inside it keeps good time.
I knew I had purchased a fake when I paid 90 dollars for a Rolex. It is a nice watch I have had it for 7 months, set it to my phone and it hasn’t lost a second
Very interesting, nice presentation and so on. I came to a conclusion that for the real connaisseur the original Rolex will always bring a peace of mind whilst the replica can only bring a false show-off
That is very correct. Whenever I wear my Rolex I feel confident and reassured of some sort of an ego boost. However I feel like a fool thinking how I waste money. A guy wearing a Rolex watch can never order a cheap drink at the bar... LOL.
quote...." whilst the replica can only bring a false show-off " as opposed to a real show off. If you want to be mysterious wear a cheap Casio. ...but wear expensive shoes. 5
I recently received a replica and as far as I can tell the only place the knock off manufacturers cheaped out was on the crystal - there's no cyclops magnification at all and no crown logo etched in at the 6 o'clock position. In all other aspects mentioned in this video, it's a good replica. I suppose if I wanted to up the replica factor I could have a better crystal installed but I'm not going to bother.
Good as far as it went - which was really only skin deep. Was waiting to see what it looked like on the inside. Good production quality on your sound and vision. Overall, interesting and informative. Thanks!
Saddest part about it is they can do it for $100 and make a profit. Shows how much we will overpay for something to show off. I noticed the writing, right away.
This comparison is pretty poor, outside of the very subjective matter of the origin of the value, which is a centuries old debate. For a starter, a factory in China that produces many different watches, among them fake rolex, with the least of their concern being the pay and work conditions of their workers ( some of the hardest in the world ), is certainly capable of making a profit far more easely, than any decent factory in Europe, let alone Switzerland, one of the top countries with the highest average salary, and qualified workers, in the entire world.
Very good replica. Replicas exist because the genuine are hugely expensive of course. And of course being £100 will make you question the real price of the genuine. The genuine is obviously superior, but never worth 100 x the price of the fake. If the same watchmaker made essentially the same watch ( materials etc...) , without the brand then it would be worth a fraction of the price, proving you are just paying for the name as with any brand. The interesting thing about this is someone is building this fake for a £100 , so why are the genuine so expensive?
Ho, my God, but you are so wrong.... You don't pay the material, you pay exclusivity. If they did that it will no more be exclusive... And for a brand that like and lives of exclusive would mean death.. That's the reason there are clothing that coasts 100x and people buy it. You pay for the brand and that is much more expensive than the material...
And people are prepared to pay for these items. Thats is so evidente That i really dont understand what That have to do with anything ... Luxury products Will allways be much more expensives than the prices of the respective components.
Can't get away with this argument in this day and age, people are realising how much of a con it is, only the rich will pay this because only the rich believe the hype.
I suspect the difference between the genuine article and a replica might become apparant after several years of use, particularly if you used the watch underwater or in other demanding enviroments. It would have been interesting to expose the replica to heat/cold, vibration, and especially water
I have seen video for youtuber putting his rolex replica in hot water and icy water and nothing changed, and bear in mind there is many replica grades starts from 50$ to 1000$ , and btw the replica factory makes the case and bezel but not the straps or movement since there are subsuppliers for these parts , the best one in the market for rolex now are noob and clean factories, they used the same movements, straps but different cases , and each model has it is own versions of enhancements, like v1, v2, v3 etc
Hands up those people who use their real Rolex underwater or in demanding environments? In my view the pricing policy of Rolex has made their product next to un-usable.
The number of people using a real Rolex to dive with is probably 1 out of 400,000 owners. I suspect the number of people using a fake Rolex to dive with is probably even smaller. Most divers are using an actual dive computer, because it's no longer 1953 and things like oxygen time and depth measurement are better handled by, you know, an actual fucking computer rather than a unidirectional bezel.
Excellent video. Thank you for the information. I was able to identify a number of other fakes / replica Rolex models just from the first 5 minutes of this video.
The immediate tell between these two for me was how well the bracelet integrates with the lugs. And it's crazy because this was a $100 rep, vs some of the $500-$1000 "super clones" out there.
Yep, the tolerances between the bracelet and lugs is usually the first thing I look at. The integration looks nearly flush on the front, and the inferior fitment is even MORE obvious on the back, where the fake bracelet 'sticks out' where the authentic bracelet fits 'perfectly'. I'm surprised people still look for 'ticking' second hands. Isn't that just going to tell you if it's QUARTZ? Even my $500 Hamilton (ETA) Automatics have fairly smooth sweeping seconds, and I thought that was common for most MECHANICAL watches?
I would not give my money to Rolex on principle. Firstly, they make +/ - One million watches a year, for about $700. So the are hardly exclusive.Retailers add about another third. If you want to have your watch serviced, you HAVE to go to an authorised dealer, at a staggering cost. Otherwise your warrant is invalid. I own many replicas, and enjoy them all. Presently I am wearing a titanium, sterile , automatic Panerai copy, with a Seagull movement. I've had it 12 years, and apart from gaining 2 mins every 5 days, it has never let me down. It cost me $75, with a leather strap. One of my others is a Milgaus Rolex, with a quartz movement and the lightning bolt seconds hand. Well made, even down to the green glass ring. $56. Why pay more ? PS, if you know anything about watches, look elsewhere in that price range.
I have both watches and I am afraid to get them close together because the replica is made just that well. One of the dead giveaways is how the writing etc... on a real Rolex is just so crisp. The replica you can always see a little blur. The funny thing is that the layman would never know the difference.
It appeared the MOST obvious difference were the tolerances of each component. The replica had visible 'gaps' between the bracelet & lugs, and was also obviously uneven where it attaches to the back of the watch. The authentic watch looked to be almost PERFECTLY FLUSH in every place where the bracelet attaches to the 'watch' itself. I'm just not sure the reason most people purchase replicas? I've noticed that most 'normal' people rarely even notice, let alone comment on ANY watch I'm wearing. And any 'watch guys' who do notice I'm wearing a 'luxury' watch will probably end up recognizing it's fake... So there just doesn't seem to be any 'upside', especially when it seems that decent knock offs often cost more than a REAL Hamilton or other 'affordable' SWISS watch. I could understand if they were like $100, but last I checked anything not embarrassingly fake were going for at LEAST $500?
I’m a little surprised at the “it’s not worth it” comments given that this is a watch channel. One poster mentioned the lifespan of the real watch as a differentiator and that is undoubtedly true. Our phones tell better time than the most expensive watches so truly it’s not about time. Quality is an end in itself otherwise the Yugo would still be a selling cars and the Mercedes Benz in the trash heap if all we cared about was utility. I worked my way through college and graduated after ten years. My reward was a Cyma, my first real watch, and one I still own. After graduate school it was a Tag Carrera that I wore every day most of my working life. I own most Tag models, a few Omegas, a Rolex and one Breitling. From my grandfather I have a vintage Rolex and Patek. These watches are placeholders in my life. One celebrates the birth of my son. My diving watch honors my daughter who died too early and was my diving buddy. They are part of my story and journey through life.
I live a life with the appointment book. However, I have not yet experienced a situation in which a mechanical wristwatch would not have given a sufficiently accurate time. In this respect, the smartphone argument is in favor of the wastepaper basket anyway. And I'm happy about every moment when I don't have to look at my smartphone. Is a Rolex worth the money? Is a Lange&Söhne Zeitwerk worth more than $90,000? Is any Omega worth $6,000? Is any watch even worth $1,000? That depends on how much money you have and how much you want to spend. In the end, even a $300 watch does its job and can look good. Almost nothing in our life is really worth its price.
i woldn't say "not worth it" but its a damn no brainer to my poor ass. I'll never be able to afford a real luxury watch in my life and im ok with that. That being said, if i do want to enjoy something like that, it isn't even in the realm of possibly less it be a high tier replica. If the Chinese could clone Lamborghinis at the same high rate, for a fraction of cost, Hell I'd probably be driving one also. Though a ridiculous analogy maybe, this 1:1 cloning at a fraction of real cost is being achieved with watchmakers.
Bought a SeaDweller about 34 years ago, not for the cache value, but because I did lots of outdoor stuff and I wanted the toughest, most reliable watch. I was just a beginning teacher and paid about 6-7 weeks pay back in about 1987 in Australia and wanted the best. Did the usual servicing for a time then for one reason or another let the servicing lapse until a mate introduced me to a retired watchmaker acquaintance who just happened to be the last one to do a service on my watch. It surprised him and myself to know that last service was 23 years ago, and the watch was worn/used every day, faultlessly, for those 23 years, as it's my only watch...which is how I have always viewed it...it's not a Rolex...it's just my watch. Another friend far more interested in antique watches, etc, when he heard this commented that that was the truest indication of the quality/reliability of a Rolex compared to any other brand of watch, regardless of price or reputation... name another that can go 23 years without a service and still perform reliably day in day out.
After watching this video; Never buy a real Rolex because the fake is the same. The only difference is the price. So don't buy a watch for $ 10.000 (only for the name) where you can buy the same watch for only just $ 100.

I had a real Rolex Submariner which took me 18 months to pay off and I was so happy to have a nice watch. Well, my model had sapphire watch crystal which scratched. I took it to a Rolex dealer and they replace the crystal (a hundred dollars). After I got it back the Benzel fell off somewhere and I took it back to the Rolex dealer sense they had to remove it to fix the crystal. They said it was my fault(some how). I was waring the watch when it fell off and noticed it was gone when I checked the time. Don't buy a Rolex it is not the watch that went to the moon I was so crushed Rolex would not repair it as a defect from repair br a authorised repair station.
There's no logic to the dealer's statement that you "abused" the watch. If you paid a fortune for it, the last thing you wanted to do was to abuse it! And a good watch of any brand would not have the cover coming off! My suspicion is Rolex itself used fake parts in its manufacturing!

COMEX and Royal Navy CD (Clearance Divers) certainly used to. COMEX in particular used SeaDwellers. These days they probably wear G-Shocks in addition to their dive computers. Commercial deep diving is automatically monitored from the surface nowadays.

Great story.
And you didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for it. Smart man.
Im glad i read that lol dope story thanks
Bought one (a Fake Rolex) in Dubai. It never lost a second, but had to reset it on most mornings, but a great watch until I got over-confident and wore it in a sauna. Bought a fake Omega (battery) at around the same time, both around £20/£25 and still have it and, after around 10 years, it still keeps perfect time. It is said' imitation is the greatest form of flattery'. Why they pursue fakes is open to question as they are only bought (usually) by those who cannot afford the real thing. Those who can afford the real thing would (usually) not be seen dead with a fake.
My experience with swissarex was fantastic. The watch arrived quickly and was exactly as described.

I would wear it off and on and it lasted about five years. I had fun with it even thought I knew it was a fake. For the life of me I can’t imagine anyone paying 10,000 for a watch!
Maybe as an investment but any other reason I agree is barmy.

Weird because the movement didn’t look as smooth to my eyes. I picked the one on the left as the fake one for that reason.
the problem not the 100$ , it is how the real Rolex cost , is it 1000$ or 2k and we have to pay 16,000. for it. so depressing. I plan to get 10 replicas for my new trip to china. and get red of my real one soon.
There are fake Rolex watches they have quart movements as well with one motion per second. They are just cheaper copies.
Won't happen ...the balance costs a fortune to produce so it's not cost effective for the fakers to attempt trying to copy it ....
What caught my eye upon close comparison was the font differences between the fake and real one. The fake one's font has the letters more smashed together (specifically the "Swiss Made" and "Officially Certified" letters, whereas the real one has the font a little more spaced out between the letters, creating an overall more polished look.

Its the story about capitalism and how its wrong. The greed, the elitism... Feeling superior for having a material value your neighbor lacking.

Great video Oisín. I have to laugh at the influx of Swissarez spamming that's appeared in the comments recently.
They are getting so good now, wow. I could still tell just by the small details - I paused your video in the beginning and looking at them side by side could easily tell the fake. If you look very close, fakes always skimp on little things. Like print, etching, screws, the way things line up (or don't).

In a lot of details it is pretty good, but the outer bezel has play, and the bracelet is a bit beat up, and the crown on the clasp lock is entirely missing. Depends if you appreciate horology as art...or not...
Much appreciated video. I learned something I didn't know.

I'm not a diver but I know I can wear my Submariners or Explorer 1 214270 mk2 in any environment because they are absolutely built for it.

Next buy your fake Porsche into your fake life. LOL
@@BobSmith-uu5kj Porsche ? How very common.
I have both watches and I am afraid to get them close together because the replica is made just that well. One of the dead giveaways is how the writing etc... on a real Rolex is just so crisp. The replica you can always see a little blur. The funny thing is that the layman would never know the difference.
is the replica waterproof
Thank you. That was a very informative and entertaining video. It kept my attention throughout.
Another
friend far more interested in antique watches, etc, when he heard this commented that that was the truest indication of the quality/reliability of a Rolex compared to any other brand of watch, regardless of price or reputation... name another that can go 23 years without a service and still perform reliably day in day out.
Casio.
I must admit that the replica doesn't look so bad for a 100 times cheaper !
And it keeps good time!
After watching this video; Never buy a real Rolex because the fake is the same. The only difference is the price. So don't buy a watch for $ 10.000 (only for the name) where you can buy the same watch for only just $ 100.
Adding two extra exhausts doesn’t make an AMG does it ;-)
Some great information, thank you! Didnt know about the direction while setting the time!
The diamond-studded watches on swissarex are absolutely stunning.
Definitely a cheap AAA+
Would be interesting with a recent Noob or ARF
Yup , it's an $80,- DHGate rep.
Yeah try a 300/400 USD replica :)
Daniel no chance
@@rogueleader8129 Maybe I will make a video, I just bought a fake 800USD Root Beer because I want to kep the real watch nice.
The real reapoff here is charging $10,000 for the Rolex given the replica can be sold at a profit for only $100!!
@@TheAstroflight do you really believe $10k is a reasonable price?? People just pay it to stand out and show off their wealth. Pretty sure the replica is manufactured in Asia, but that does not mean child labor or pseudo slavery. There is a reason why iPhones are built in Asia. Cheap labor compared to rich nations
@@andresguerin7162 Of course $10K is a reasonable price. Buying toys is a voluntary activity. It's the same with BMW, Mercedes, etc. I've owned just about every car made at one point or another (I'm a wholesaler) and let me tell you, 99% of the people who own high end cars couldn't tell a Hyundai from a Mercedes if they were blindfolded and rode in the back seat. People pay $10K for the show-off wow factor, and if it's worth it to them, I'm OK with that. I'll use my replica thank you. No one knows it's not real unless they ask me, and if they ask I tell them it's a copy.
Just goes to show makes sense to always buy from reputable licensed retailers
@@vitaboost they only have them for people who spend big money in their stores first and people who kiss their asses. I have money for one and was told that they didn't want to just sell me a watch that I needed to buy jewelry first and come in often etc. Fuck Rolex they don't want my money I went to an Omega boutique they were happy to take my money and they kissed my ass.
Thank you for the comparison showing.
One thing that I was surprised that you didn't cover, was the number of clicks for one complete revolution of the bezel.
I sent the watch to Rolex in New York and they said it was abused and they would not stand behind but would repair it for $400.
I have a great timex.....lasted through the service and beyond , bought it in the Px........................the real thing......Rolex can pound salt !!
But it went on mount Everest.

Brilliant. Wow thank you that was 21 mins well spent!
Insane. I was looking for the tiny engraving of the Rolex logo at the 6 o’clock position on both and picked it out of the left first. Automatically assumed the left was real whilst ignoring all of the other small signs of a fake. I feel so dumb 😂

What you failed t notice is that the name is ROLEX and not Rolex.
You were brainwashed and programmed to be a ZOMBIE starting
with your first day at the CORPORATE GOVERNMENT indoctrination
Center known as School -
ZOMBIES have eyes but cannot see - ears and cannot hear
Programmed to write names in Mixed Case Letters.
What you FAILED to learn and pay attention to - is that CORPORATE
{Legal} names are always in the ALL CAPS iteration.
ONLY the names of a Living Soul is in Mixed Case Letters.
The word CORPORATION derives from the Latin CORPUS
meaning CORPSE - DEAD - BODY
{ it is from there we derive the term 'BODY CORPORATE' }
CORPSES are DEAD entities = thus without a soul - and have the
name on the gravestone written in ALL CAPS - as do CORPORATIONS
- both are DEAD entities without a soul.
Had you studied Law for >twenty years or been observant and paying
attention to detail - you would have noticed this difference.
But it is not entirely your fault as your CORPORATE GOVERNMENT
education system sodomized you without your knowledge - and have
been lying to you for decades.
Now go and teach it to others who remain ignorant of this fact.
The next question is => Why do you see what appears to be a name
that 'sounds' like yours - except that it is written in ALL CAPS.
Knowing what you read above - the answer should be simple ---
However you have to explain it to indicate your understanding -
and explain WHY {often) you see the name written in ALL CAPS.
CLUE: Pay attention to 'where' you see the name written in ALL CAPS

I was thinking of investing $8,000 on an authentic Rolex from a licensed dealer but after watching this video, honestly I am disheartened. Replica's like this, while not $8k, certainly aren't $100....a truly good clone can be over $500 - 1000

The thing with a genuine Rolex, is people would automatically assume it's fake when they see you wearing it.
Agree
It would not matter what others think if you bought one to appreciate for yourself and not for showing off!
As I said previously, the original Rolex gives you peace of mind
It's good to reward ourselves sometimes . While I'm not one to spend on high-end watch (I spend too much money on travel, lol), I can appreciate your gorgeous and timeless watch. I love how it's a symbol of all your hard work. And i choose nkuwan every time honestly

no one.We use YEMA or ORIS. Real sub watches. nice urban style to dinner out
People that work in offshore business for example would have a fake and a real one. You wear the $100 fake at work and leave the $8000 one for home :)
BertM3 Fake is probably not water proof. Just guessing.
tenantrep not for diving persee (wouldn’t try that....) but it’s working in harsh environments, ie on drilling platforms etc. Easy to damage a watch etc. So leave your real one at home or in your room and take the fake to work.
COMEX and Royal Navy CD (Clearance Divers) certainly used to. COMEX in particular used SeaDwellers. These days they probably wear G-Shocks in addition to their dive computers. Commercial deep diving is automatically monitored from the surface nowadays.
