    Sticks4drums,
    the new Saturnv mounts are really good looking and sounding mounts. They are based on suspension concept like rims but the difference is that here there is a 'rubber feet' that touch the shell. This, like other similar system, inhibit a little the 'floating effect' of rims system, bringing a slightlly more controlled resonance . Also important is the size of hole grommets that as to be
    larger than the suspension screw to assure the yoke. I personally have played for years a drumset using rims so i prefer that type of system. On the other hand you have to dampening in most of case when the resonance is exaggerated..The saturn v is more focused and controlled sounding set and need no much time to spend to miking it. This is my personal point of view

    Man, I guess I'm going to have to get a rack if I'm going to get all my toms up. I have to buy a rack plus and extra piece since I have double bass drums.

      lunaticwarrior1 Hey! Uploading some more videos and saw this question. Yes, I replaced one Saturn with a "mount lug", one of the ones with the threads at the bottom for the mount screws. Then, the mount screws fit perfectly through the "RIMS" band mounts. You need three mount positions for the Gauger bands and four of them for the "generic" RIMS bands. Seriously is a completely different instrument using the band style mounts. New Mapex mounts are coming soon btw! Thanks for watching! Russ

      Thank you so much! I always used rims system on my drums and noticed that the Saturn v could benefit a lot adopting this concept. I hope with new relases mounts and Mapex support i can further improve my set up!
      Sorry for my english and my nickname..i'm italian, don't know my nick was inconvenient. .:) i'm good guy!

      Looks like a Starcast mount system from Tama. The drums, at least the one bass said Mapex on it, which is a subsidiary of Tama. I wasn't sure about the drums themselves, wondering if a DW rack system is only suitable for DW drums, or if you could use it to mount any drums. Still not sure honestly

    • @ericstearns170
      @ericstearns170 Рік тому +1

      Except for 2 things. The Pearl system is made of inferior aluminum that is prone to depressing and bending. 2. It's made by Pearl. (yuck)

    • @anguse2068
      @anguse2068 Рік тому

      I have owned 4 different iterations of the Pearl rack over the years. Yes there can be VERY SLIGHT marks left in the aluminium tubing - visible if you reposition clamps - but it really is minor and cosmetic. But overall the Pearl rack is 100% dependable. I’m not saying that with any sense of brand loyalty - I have owned various brands of kit. And I’ll even admit that traditional stands are probably a cooler look. BUT for reliable, flexible and robust mounting nothing beats the Pearl racks in my opinion. And setup is so fast and precisely repeatable - I love that every tom and cymbal ends up EXACTLY the same relative positions every time and with no messing around trying to fit tripod bases around other stands or spurs and no trying to balance the load of toms mounted of cymbal stands. Finally, on anything above a small kit it’s probably less weight to lug than all those individual tripod stands.

      Meh.I'm not a big fan of propritary hardware systems.Pearl said the same thing about the square 80 series racks and look where they ended up.Also,the Icon rectangular sections are only the upper horizontal ones,the verticals are still 1.5" round tubing,and the bases use square tubing.So 3 different types of tubing on one rack.No thanks.
