Aftermarket is hit and miss. But that's all we have anymore. I got lucky but spend 1k for gm roof rail and lower door weatherstripping. Door closed perfectly first time
Just done the same job on my 86 Monte Carlo, also replaced the roof weather stripping , someone must have locked their keys in their car. Get ready to adjust the door striker and the door glass. That was a real pain in the A$$.
I just got mine and had same problem. Everything else is top notch quality. Especially the window channel felts, they r made by Repops and they r made in the Usa they are very nicely made. I hope to get my lower door seals replaced. Wouldnt hesitate to buy from Mikes Montes again. Very good stuff for the money.
I got excited when I saw that you posted a video, thought there was paint flying. Lol Very good advice for us that are thinking of going down this route as well as those that HAVE G Body vehicles.
Great of the guy to stand behind his company and product 👍🏻👍🏻 make sure to wipe down the door where you taped it to remove any of the adhesive from the tape before you paint brother!!!
@@dhosack85 I also only deal with Mike's Montes. When you call to order you get to talk to Mike himself. Always very helpfull and very polite. Also found out it is cheaper to order from his site than on Ebay. Always completive prices also.
I just ordered the same exact kit. The ones that ripped are perhaps the off brand name that they offer as an option for $20 less. Soft seal are great parts and i beleive thats the replacements he sent you. Much better quality. I hope to get the soft seal kit as those are the ones i paid for. I wonder if tr off brand cheaper ones were sent to you by mistake first?
Not sure man! I did learn my lesson with adhesives tho. The BLACK extra strength weather strip adhesive worked better than the other one. Pretty sure I bought the 3m stuff.
@@ls87gbody so far pretty good. Kept out of the elements I see it lasting a long time but if it were in an everyday car I doubt it would last 10 years. Mine still doesnt seal well around the windows I even made notches in the molding you install the weather stripping that goes around the window to pull it closer to the window and water still leaks through the window when I wash it. G body problems I guess lol
@@dhosack85 Same problem on my 1986 monte. I had to take the door panels off and readjust my door glass to get them to seal right. There are quite a few U-Tube videos on this subject. There are many adjustments on the window glass. Good luck.
@@arielmedrano8098 just did mine's last week. Came out good.. Had some trouble on the first one but managed. I order them from "Original Parts Group" along with Windows felts and door seals...
i have a 1997 buick regal,, rear passenger door has water in it, it looks like it may leak along the seal of the window part, can those be replaced ? or name of it,, where to find it ?
Can you show the upper door weather strips? I feel like something is missing on my sons 84 SS. The window does not seal or sit flush as installing a new set.
I like a little bit of everything music wise! Metallica till I die though! I bought all my door weather stripping from this guy let me look up the cost for ya.
it was actually cheaper than I said in the video! the whole kit for the doors and then the window frame so a 4 piece kit was 89.99 free shipping on ebay. his ebay name is makmonte.
87national hmm. Idk probably wouldnt be that bad. Id just be careful with the adhesive it gets very stringy. And dont use the yellow crap i used, use the black adhesive for some reason it held a hell of a lot better. I had to re glue a bunch of sections because it came up.
looks like the elcos have a different set. the door kit is 50 and the window kit is 50. just get on mikesmontes.com and do a search for El Camino weather stripping.

2022, your video is still very helpful.

Dose it come with a glue i thought you cut what you need and install it.

cool and thanks i'll keep that in mine when i go to get em for my 84 monte
If you still have this car, how did the weatherstripping hold up over the years?
areibu use the 3M super weatherstrip adhesive they hold up for a few years, everything gets old with time.
1:45..come on man...
Never yellow glue
What type of tape did u use
Got a question for you that you have a monte Carlos, do you know if the weather strips on the doors and the roof rails fit the oldsmobile cutlas, 86?
Will you still have to align your panels? Or did you do that beforehand?
what you mean?
Let me buy the old one..
🖒🖒
How hard you think it would be with the door on??

@@87national GM is the best. They fit. But I know it's expensive. No glue required
