- The Class EF81 is multi-voltage AC/DC electric locomotive for the freight trains and passenger trains by Japan Freight Railway. They were built between 1968 and 1992, and used by JNR(Japanese national railways). EF81 pulls many famous limited express sleeping car trains "Hokutosei", "Cassiopeia", "Twilight Express", "Nihonkai", so on. I observed this locomotive at 2014 open engine depot of Higashi-Niigata.

I love the unique sound of Japanese train horn.
SMS. Yurw. Ita to
Me too it sounds really good
Japanese freight trains may also run in heavy snowfall areas.
It is said that the sound of this horn was adopted to make it easier to resonate in such places.
@@しおんぬ-i9p I guess its either a air whistle or a vry small horn which makes such a high pitch sound. Only countries like Russia and Japan have these, we just have regular horns in Australia
Mitsubishi aw-2 in case you are wondering the whistle class
S is the state in which 6 motors are connected in series.
SP is the state in which 3 motors are connected in series.
P is the state in which 2 motors are connected in series.
WF is field weakening.
Thnx, I was just wondering what were those
Wonderful they run so silent compared to the german and swiss locomotives of the same era!
Great video 👍🏻
Classic restoration
Cool train bro!
Great video
Good video
Really great with your bloody watermark all over it.
TOSHIBA、HITACHI、MITSUBISHI-ELECTRIC
Love ghat view

Wow, in comparison to Indian broad gauge, that track in Japan feels so small, that's Narrow Gauge?
Yes, the Japan's national railway "Japan Railway" uses narrow gauge.
AxK standard for main line and metre gauge for commuter lines
1067 mm (not 1000 mm) is the usual gauge in Japan (representing 83% of track kilometres), but the shinkansen (high-speed) lines and a few commuter / private railways are 1435 mm (international standard gauge).
このEF81系はこちらの269系をすごく似合ってます(ua-cam.com/video/Bw7_CJ5k6wQ/v-deo.html)。
good
The driver used only straight air break on this video.
Only need straight air when light loco.

Why he make that gestures with his hand?
Lucian Gabriel it means he noted that symbol....It is a common practice
It's common practice for airline pilots as well. Trained to point/touch things so they will look at them and ensure they are configured correctly.
Standard operational procedure.
Nice s
Ushida Reiko
why did he keep pointing at the power controller and two dials when he went into off mode?
+Spiro20004
There were some accidents because of an insufficient operation. It was forgetting to turn off a power notch. An electric current continues flowing in a resistor when it continues being switched on at low series step and a resistor generates heat and melts.
So, they executes the following steps after turn off a power notch.
1. Doing to turn off the power notch again.
2. Pointing and calling a power notch position "to turn off the power is OK".
3. Pointing and calling two ammeters which are the circuit one of the main motor and the circuit of all motors. "An ammeter's indicator is zero."
+nico poge interesting, thanks for replying!
Risk triggered driving technique, used very widely on Japanese Railways as a way of combating potential errors
and as a side note, the shinkansen, where the power handle goes to notch 13, has a similar protocol of turning off traction power
ternyata ada yang ky gitu
Why do Japanese Loco pilots wear hand gloves while driving a train?
It's simply a part of the uniform. Taxi drivers wear them too.
Because japan is fancy
Lagu dangdutan
SHRIKANT
Old the train of british
It not very new
It is old but reliable.
This is an electric locomotive, so there is no steam. But, it has air compressors for brakes and horns.

it,s a circus to get the train going in japan.
Japanese and their strict SOPs.
are indian train are best
It like chinese train
