@John Freeman Most records or PRS are on wet tracks. I never understood why ppl don't realize the slickness helps and the track is slightly spongy giving it a little extra bounce/push off with each step.
Smh I hope Carl Lewis is appointed a position on the world team. It’s been a long time coming. Not all great runners make great coaches and he needs to be awarded for that rare combination.
Im not going to University of Houston to run because of Leroy Burrell. Im committing to University of Houston because a big name like Carl Lewis is there and the fact that the program is thriving and in the limelight is just a bonus.
With Carl Lewis and Leroy Burrell coaching, this is no surprise. They bring Houston Track back to it's golden day's, like it was in the 80's and early 90's!!!!
Can someone say DNA? Cameron Burrell is the son Leroy Burrell and Michelle Finn. Both were great sprinters during the late 1980s and early 1990s. In fact Leroy was at one time the fastest sprinter in the world from 1989-1991. Although, I am not a Carl Lewis fan, I have to admit that he and Leroy are both great coaches. They are doing an excellent job at the University of Houston.
Second leg is always ready. .He is the 60 meter and 200 NCAA championship. Him and Cam are Best Friend they've been running together since they were nine years old. Family Affair they know how to respect each other.
Up til now, I cannot recall hearing none of these reporters mentioned the third leg, Mario Burke from Barbados. But then again, it happens at all levels of international sports. It's all about the United States.
2:27 - After hearing Dwight Stone, I went back to look.... Elijah Hall really did almost drop that baton. First time I'm seeing it. Brotha man was fumbling from right to left and still extending the lead.... not bad!!
Raymond Greenwood you were right the 2nd leg for A&T took off wayyy too fast for a good exchange if he been patient they could have been in the running to be on the podium.
Dre' Brown that second leg for A&T was JOEL THOMAS A SENIOR.But last yr A&T had JAYLEN MITCHELL,CHRIS BELCHER(SENIOR 9.93 100M),CALEB GABRIEL(SENIOR 10.1)RODNEY ROWE.Michael Bell a frosh was the leadoff I would have placed him on 2nd leg.
What was the cat from NC A&T thinking about on the first exchange he left days early..he is supposed to be looking his man and his marker .. granted the track is wet then you use a landmark ... otherwise it was a good race by all
Pressure bust pipes.... NC A&T's 2nd leg was not ready for the big stage...There's absolutely no justification for leaving that early.... Smdh.... That was selfish of him 😂
Dre' Brown That 2nd leg person was here last yr it was the frosh who lead off was the rookie.I was looking for a POSSIBLE UPSET.I said this in pre-race if A&T can have a clean race they could have pulled a upset on Houston they were here last season.Taking 3rd only Houston&Auburn ran faster.Back to the drawing board for the Aggies!!!!!!!!
I just want to know what kind of commentators don't keep up with the clock in case there was a record breaking moment. Just missed all together a moment of excitement to what was happening in real time. Stay on College level guys.
If you watch some of the other races that afternoon, including Norman's (USC) 400m race, the announcers kept talking about the rain and how it was "not good conditions for records" despite several records falling that day ! They had that idea in their head and never woke up; they kept being surprised by the times.
yeah most of the commentators they get to cover college track are just general sports commentators and really know nothing about track and make all kinds of crazy comments because they don't know what else to talk about because they never ran.
the Anchor is the coaches son to and he also won the 100m title he always celebrates like that after a race he's been doing it for 4 years now he is also a Que that why he was barking like that. the rest of his teammates ate laid-back and quiet even in interviews they don't like to talk they usually have him talk for them.
he ran a victory lap to the rest of his teammates were probably to tired to do all that plus he was mad because all season all the analysts had been counting them out all season not even mentioning them as one of the best relay teams this year they didn't even have them as a contender to win this race even tho they won the this race last year to.
Didnt TCU go 38:04 back in 1998 in the 40 degree weather? Anyone know why that isnt the NCAA record or did TCU had ncaa violations that got that taken away?
TCU payed foreign sprinters, coaches took the sprinters test and did their home work. Coaches wrote the sprinters entrance papers for them. Paid their monthly bills to live off campus. TCU admitted it all and fired the coach!!!!!! www.tcu360.com/story/ncaa-on-men-s-track-cheating-went-on-for-seven-years-12293041/
Fort Worth had been holding the college and high school records at the same time for a good while. OD Wyatt from FW has held the high school national record since '98.
May Cameron Rest in Peace. What a run!
Does this track have some magical properties where the rain makes sprinters go faster? These 2018 times are crazy.
Would have ran 37.75 with no rain. This 38.17 was on a WET track in 61 degrees.
Magnificent focus n baton handoffs being in the rain smh lol
Lol, there is always a "Wouldve ran.." no, it is what it is, no excuses.
Rain helped they were on fire

Mohola Chepkoech I totally agree with you
Leroy Burrell has been coaching the Houston team for longer than Carl
Im not going to University of Houston to run because of Leroy Burrell. Im committing to University of Houston because a big name like Carl Lewis is there and the fact that the program is thriving and in the limelight is just a bonus.
But the best runner for Houston is Burrell's son.
Ed Balfour we know. Do you get my point though?
Congratulations guys on your repeat of National Champions and setting a new NCAA Collegiate Record.
Houston, we have a solution
REST EASY CB,❤️
RIP Can!! 🙏🏿💔🙏🏿💔

I hadn't been paying much attention to Houston in track in field....but I am now!!
2 time NCAA 4x100 champion with a 2018 NCAA record. 38.17
2018 100m champion and runner up.
Univ or Hou to NCAA T&F world: CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

@@charnocks246 Burke was flying on that 3rd leg for the Cougars.
Oowweee, Cameron Burrell was stepping! R.I.P

2:27 - After hearing Dwight Stone, I went back to look.... Elijah Hall really did almost drop that baton. First time I'm seeing it. Brotha man was fumbling from right to left and still extending the lead.... not bad!!
1st and 2nd leg were BOOSTIN
RIP Cameron Burrell
WOW Amazing accomplishment! Go Coogs!!!
RIP Cameron 😔. Smh
Raymond Greenwood you were right the 2nd leg for A&T took off wayyy too fast for a good exchange if he been patient they could have been in the running to be on the podium.
Great performance by Houston. I wish USC could have been there were it not for the drop in the quarter round.

Crazy it only lasted 1 season
I love the way how they pass that Boton
What was the cat from NC A&T thinking about on the first exchange he left days early..he is supposed to be looking his man and his marker .. granted the track is wet then you use a landmark ... otherwise it was a good race by all
Raymond Greenwood I was thinking A&T had a botched handoff.I wanted them to have a possible shot at payback vs Houston from last yr.
Pressure bust pipes.... NC A&T's 2nd leg was not ready for the big stage...There's absolutely no justification for leaving that early.... Smdh.... That was selfish of him 😂

Dwight Love What class are the rest of the guys on the team? Burrell 's graduated, so '19 could be A&T's to lose.
David Hayes Most of the guys are frosh&sophomores for A&T and they will be back.

@@BRICKDRAGLINE which is dumb because ALOT of records fall on wet or rainy tracks.
The anchor didn't want to celebrate with the team or something lol wth. The 1 2 and 3 won the race, all the anchor had to do was not f up

Exactly what I thought, ran right past a teammate who came up to celebrate with him. I don't get that.
hooly shit!!! someone finally beat TCUs record!!! ... wow! yo .. these kids are getting faster and faster as the years go on
the fact that they did it in the rain on a wet track makes it even more impressive.
Long Live Cam, fr
Awesome!
H-Town cougars. Big ups
RIP
that 2nd leg was vicious
Can't beat the Mighty Coogs if the playing field is level, baby! Go Coogs!
and they could have went faster, the exchange wasnt flaw less.
Have the longhorns ever made a 4x100 final
Ohio state first runner and anchor were flying too
Am I trippin or did the 2nd leg guy change the Baton mid stride to his other hand
It's not that uncommon
COOGS!!!
Imagine indoor conditions.
That duck legs anchor leg guy needs to realize that it takes a team to win.
I always had to change hands on the 4th leg it feels shitty to hold in the left hand.
Stop holding these national meets in cold Oregon in june
the coogs
Anchor leg got off on em

Nah that made him run faster bc he was more comfortable with the other hand!
38:17 thats amazing omfg
I thought TCU held the record.
Rich Muscle They did.
Houston just broke it
Fort Worth had been holding the college and high school records at the same time for a good while. OD Wyatt from FW has held the high school national record since '98.
javon No they didn't. The NCAA removed TCUs records for some reason. TCU record is 38.04
Mr Mackey they just said they broke it///they no more than any of ous
😁
Is it just me or do they all look 30-ish
