BRAVO SPEETA!!! A very thorough investigation you have performed here. One that is appreciated by this Vanishing Point fan as well as many others. Thank you sir!
Very good technical analysis, thank you, I always wondered where this was shot and if well number 18 had any meaning or just happened to be on the location . The best to you - Ella
You missed your calling in the law enforcement field. Good investigative research for sure. One thing that also interests me is the oil in the region. All these homes are sitting on top of oil fields from the past. How times change so quickly. Thanks for your time on this. I know it was extensive.
The flashbacks were likely shot back-to-back in the last few days of principal photography once Barry Newman's hair was cut shorter; they probably didn't travel far from the Malibu/Santa Monica area to shoot Vera's scene.
www.westland.net/venicehistory/articles/1970.htm "1977... After city officials condemned the Lighthouse and Outrigger canal bridges on the Venice Peninsula that allowed beach residents easy access to nearby Marina del Rey, Jeffrey Stanton built his own 50 foot span at Hurricane Street. Residents donated money to finance the $100 three foot wide bridge that was built with the help of teenagers. When Los Angeles discovered the illegal bridge several days later, they discovered that it required a coastal permit to be removed. The Coastal Commission allowed its removal with the condition that they spend $60,000 to repair the nearby Lighthouse bridge."

Great video. I bet they filmed the beach screens near Venice. Next stop might be "No Name Exit" in CO.
