I found you channel last night and have binge watched a lot of your videos.... is there any chance you’ll be making a printable PDF of short hand notes?? Not a “how to” but “how and why” I’ve noticed your not like all the other myco you tubers just repeating the steps. I’m sure I’m not the only person who’s willing to pay you for your knowledge. Your videos are much more informative than any others I’ve seen. Either way thanks for making the time to teach us.
Nice channel 👍 And You grow with Your mushrooms 😉👍 Question: what’s about “ old power steam pasteurizer / wallpaper thing “? Does it worked or not? Would it be suitable for small scale ? For 10 or less fruiting blocks? Friendly greetings from Germany 🇩🇪✌️
Exactly my issue with some other companies offering these bags with hay, dung and w.e else layered into an all in one bag...it just looks like it's not easy enough for the spores to eat through with hay up top and dung at the bottom, not mixed at all. Please correct me if I'm wrong but it looks counterintuitive for colonization
Dude, the way you teach is exactly how I learn. Flood me with information and I'll have the structural foundation to build upon. The cross-discipline guidance and techniques as well as always addressing the "why" genuinely sets you apart and I hope you don't stop doing this. Also, let me give you money.
Thank you for the video! I don't live on a mountain but I also don't have an actual autoclave and won't be able to get one for a while. Is it possible to use a large stock pot or an instant pot to sterilize cvg? I have seen a lot of conflicting info. Thank you again!
if you are not keeping your CVG for extended periods you don't need to sterilize it. pasteurization works fine if you are going to use it right away & do your work in a clean environment.
@@themyceliumnetwork I'm trying to use some now and prep some for later. I have seizures so I have to do what I can when I have the energy. Also trying do whatever I can to be successful with what I have because the last few attempts I got contamination. Thank you so.much for the info.
@@katclaus7425 in that case I would suggest jars or autoclavable bags without a filter patch. the filter patch will let moisture escape leaving your substrate dry. go through the proper hydration process & than jar or bag up your substrate. PC at 15 PSI for 2 or even 2.5 hours & you'll be good. having an impulse sealer for bags (if you use them) is a good idea !! hope this helps & maybe The Humble Fungus can chime in with any other ideas.
@@themyceliumnetwork would a bag clamp be sufficient to use so that you can reuse the bags without impulse sealing and cutting. I've read that the bags eventually give way if PCed numerous times but can we get a few runs on the bags at least?
I live in Australia and have problems with contamination due to heat I'm guessing, how would I go about pc'in cvg?Do you put in a bag that can breath dry?Or bring it up to field capacity and then put it in PC in a bag( not touching bottom of course)
Common wisdom in the community says…no one is asking about pasteurization over sterilization. Also,”if you use manure based substrate”, then he wipes his face!! Seriously!! 3:22!
Man you gotta be careful with that barrel. I've warped one at 5psi, and know that to be thier max. I wish I could share this bit visually, but you'll get it: make a water column. Blackpipe going up 3 ft, elbow, over 1 ft, elbow, down 6 ft. That 6ft downpipe vent sits in a pvc tube, or something similar full of water(mark it like a ruler). A water column pressurized about .43ishpsi per foot or so, so that will put you right around your target temp without a barrel blowout (its a big mass. Itll hurt.)

Were not worthy! Lol thanks for taking the time to explain for us simple folk were learning thanks to you
As soon as 'John the Fisherman' came on in the background I got totally lost in the groove
now that was very informative !!
are you planning to do a vid on the barrel design ?
Super informative
Hey super happy to see this in depth video, will that technique with the long run barel at 220 , sterilize oats?

So what is your process with manure based substrates? I know you said sterilize everything but how do you handle manure based?
🤯🤯🤯 respect
I have found your videos to be some of the best if not the best. I have joined your patreon group and plan to go to a higher level on June 1

i’m curious as well
Bring it to field capacity then pasturize
