Seems like a lot of trouble for $1700, if it is meant to be used like this, Deus should have had Gig on the design team from the beginning. You rock Gig, really enjoy your videos. Have a great day everyone!
Pretty simple upgrade especially using the shielded cable inside the shaft!! Should reduce possible EMI. Looks better cosmetically. But it’s too bad Deus didn’t do this for a $1700 detector. Great job!!
I bought a equinox 800 last fall. I haven’t had a chance to really use because of the winter months but I liked it when you did analyze etc. On that machine. Now your moving on. I hope you continue to use the 800 and share setup tips, etc.
Remember when you dive you will get falsing with the shaft collapsed all the way down from the metal pin in tension lock and upper shaft! Super freak showed this in a Deus 2 video! Check it out pass it on. Keep up the good work!
I agree the white wire was not designed well, almost a second thought by engineer. But for me, why pay $1700 to rebuild unit. Deus needs to send out an update at no charge to correct this issue.
Great mods Gigmaster👍 You come up with some great ideas, I mod my Deus ll out for both land and water using the factory wiring and ran it up inside the shaft drilled out the end and wrapped it firm👍👍 it’s now set for both land and water, this mod idea was given to me by Andrew Mason from Aussie Detectorist and it works perfect. Looking forward to what you find with the XP Deus ll mate👍👍 see you on the next hunt💍👍
Good idea and application. BTW, it's the "Middle Shaft" that is the "Tall Mans" shaft. I use it and it works well and adds strength to the lower shaft so it doesn't need to come out as far.
👍I'm enjoying the videos👍 Even though I will never get rid of my Equinox 800. I'm getting too old to change out a detector that works great for me. Great job Steve.
u cant have the coil close to the pin on the shaft lock coil will read it so if u go diving u cant shorten the shaft down coil has to be away from the shaft lock pin
Before you goop the coil wire flat on the outside edge of the coil, I would temporarily tape it down and do a test with and without the wire taped down....the wire too close to your coil may interfere with your signal.
Sound like you were getting a better response with that cable you used than their original does the machine automatically connect to the antenna when you hook that up how does the machine recognize whether it's wireless or antenna do you have to switch anyting
Okay so here's another question in an air test since the wires carry more of a frequency meaning stock antenna versus your antenna since the wire carries the signal from the coil to the pod would it be the same better or worse would they both get the same depth or one gets a better reading than the other more depth I'll be curious cuz if yours gets an inch deeper than the stock coil hello maybe that's a big game-changer
I love this fix but since I only do very shallow streams very rarely I am not very mechanically able .... but in case I decide to have my brother help me ( If I ever get the Deus II which should be soon) what size drill bit did you use and what size rubber grommet? Type of glue, also? Sorry to be a pain but I don't want to make any mistakes if I ever do this. Love you bunches!
The factory antenna wire doesn't bother me a bit. Wonder why it's so long? Anything to do with signal timing? I still don't have my D2. Am concerned with the silent EMI! Heck, with the 2 one might not even realize silent EMI from some source is present while hunting? Also for fun I will compare D2 to my simplistic Minelab FBS Safari, which hits deeper in my test garden than many other machines, including the Nox! BBS/FBS love gold! Especially at wet salt beach!
Gigmaster please write to Deus and request the blokes to ramp up their act and redesign that “ ugly” cable assembly! Why on earth would the engineers do the cabling in this fashion is beyond my intelligence.
I would venture a guess as probably 95% of users don’t need it as they are land based detecting, if one wishes to get in the water put on this antenna for the day.
So when the wires crack and start to short out, like on every detector, you just buy another $30 cord and replace yourself. Otherwise you gotta send the whole unit in and would cost $$.
Gigmaster, do they make a black color of that antenna wire? I bought the after-market "tall man" upper shaft for the Deus 1, don't know if it works with the Deus 2.
nice idea but by putting the hole and rubber grommet in front of the handle on the shaft you are not going to be able to slide the shaft and collapse down for travel or compact storage without taking apart. why not move the shaft out towards the back about an inch and put the grommet there just before the mount bracket which would allow full movement of the shaft and you only lose an inch shaft use.
@@Gigmaster I drilled a hole in the plastic RC mount on my D1. I can now swap it out to my D2 if I decide to run the wire up the shaft. It's a $10 replacement part if something goes awry.

Nicely executed modification. In regards to diving, I saw a video about the lower metallic shaft lock pin causing falsing. (YT Paystreak Superfreak) ua-cam.com/video/EY9o0LOu56s/v-deo.html This happens only when the coil is in shortened with the coil laying flat for diving. Might want to check it out be for you go.
Why are you promoting this machine Gig, the thing has many problems and we know it, youre starting to sound like Calabash, you could roll poop in a paper towel and he would sell it as steak, dont be a Calabash.
Hey Gig , great clip and thanks for doing what you do ! I had the same idea so now I don’t have to test if the shortened antenna wire would even work . You will probably have to do another mod for diving if you want to use it shortened up . Will be interested to see what you come up with for that 👍👍not afraid of goop , duct tape or a drill ! Good job

I think I’d be ok with just putting in the antennae when I need it.
As long as you are not back and forth daily that will work!
Not everyone water detects.

I am keeping the nox! Great machine
Nice unit but my 800 is still the simplest to use in or out of water. Thanks for the update.
Shaun in Wimauma Florida
Agree! Nox is much simpler and a great machine
Lots of fine tuning but you can get it done. Nox 800 lots simpler and works very well for me personally. ATB👍

Deus provided everything needed I just elected for a mod.
Check for falsing from pin and upper shaft when machine is collapsed. Or see example in superfreaks video
This is the mod I did for my D1 last year. Works well. For my D2, I have decided to just use what was included with it for the time being. Good job.

Awesome Fix. I wish they would make all detectors from now on through with in the shaft coil wire. This is great for a Fix for the antennae wire..
You did it again, Steve!! You explained it so even I can understand it!! Now all I need is a Deus 2.......
You need the antenna attached what else do you it’s going to do but I do understand your explaining why and what else may work very nice
the new black antenna on deus 2 is outstanding and amazing
Great video GM. Mines in the mail now I'm like you hoping I can get rid of all these other machines I have!
I miss the Nox videos!!
Love it Gig....very nice work 👍
👍I'm enjoying the videos👍 Even though I will never get rid of my Equinox 800. I'm getting too old to change out a detector that works great for me. Great job Steve.
Nothing wrong with the Nox!
Lots of modifications for that money think I’ll stay away from this detector thanks for the videos keep up the good work

If you don’t have any kinks in TWO MONTHS I’ll sack up and do this. PLEASEEEE keep us posted how this winds up. Well hopefully it doesn’t wind up.
Will drilling holes in it affect the warranty?
Thank you for this!

5/16 grommet from home depot.
@@Gigmaster Thank you! I knew I could count on you. Can’t wait to see your videos every day… It is how I start my work day.
Oh, will this mod void warranty?
So do you think 6 inches is the max underwater, do you think regular water will be different than salt water, because of denstidy
No only a few inches and it looses connectivity
Good job thank you for sharing
Is there a way we could have a removable bottom connector so we could take the shaft off I wonder
Great info once again

I wonder if a metallic coating on everything would work.

I put it back on.

Yes
One problem affixing the wire to the coil is, what if you want to change the coil size? You’ll have to get that wire off
Agree i did not

After you ran the wire through the rubber grommet did you goop or seal that hole or are you not concerned with water in the shaft?
Not concerned bottom shaft is open
