Fucking hell guys, DC is truly one of my favorite groups now regardless of genres, and hopefully at least a fraction of my ramblings made any sense at all haha, enjoy the new reaction!

Dreamcatcher ODD EYE meaning:
The MV is about how the media (represented by the TV, phone, & computer) is showing us fake comfort (represented by a mask chair). It tells us how a new world of hope but is an altered reality of despair.
Media shows us a lot of good things in life that makes us believe that there is a Utopia and this gives us hope. Even when we open our eyes, we see it as something good. According to the lyrics, it is a sorrow covered by light. It is a perfect illusion covering reality.
They sing about using our Odd Eye, a secretly hidden eye that sees beyond illusion. Because with how sophisticated this world is right now, anything can be deceiving. A smile can be a plausible lie overshadowed by sweetness. Even hope itself may may lead us to despair in the end.
We see Yoohyeon drink the cup of what she thought was wine but was actually poision. We see Gahyeon reach into the computer but ended up in flames. They give us fake hope but get hurt in the end when faced with the brutal reality of this cruel world. We are literally hurting ourselves like how Handong has her neck in her own hands. Let go of the remote (Siyeon) and stop looking for this fake Utopia (Jiu running away from the tree).
In the last chorus it tells us to close our eyes. So that we can't be fooled by the world's fake light. So that at least we choose to be in darkness than to chase something that doesn't exist.
Jiu has her eyes blindfolded with a bouquet in her hands for us to realize this. A Utopia is not something we must search for but is something we must make ourselves.

The song is explaining that DC (Dreamcatcher) can’t find a utopia because it doesn’t exist anymore and how the odd eye(reality) helps them realize this.
DC were lying to themselves with false hope in the boca Mv. They had hopes of stopping people from saying negative things but it’s not possible.
Most of the lyrics are just repeating the same concept. They tricked themselves with hope/light/lies/sweetness/ideal dreams but after a while they realize that this fate can’t be changed. They are forced into reality and there is no more utopia

I love your analysis! If I have only one correction to make which tbf is still up for interpretation, is Yoohyeon scene of drinking a red liquid. I would say it is not poison but an allegory to Matrix, aka taking the red pill, opening your eyes to an illusion and seeing beyond that (especially since the shot immediately after she takes a drink is of her eyes opening from shadows)

This is why i love Dreamcatcher. They make songs with deep meanings, not the typical group that makes songs that are just rhythm and that's it. This group is something else, like your reactions, are incredible, probably the best reaction that I've seen. Good job. I can't wait for BEcause, based on the US film.

In case you decide to check out DC earlier stuff from the nightmare series, it has a pretty different sound from their Dystopia series, much more grounded in traditional j-rock elements, to put simply and without spoiling. They also have lots and LOTS of amazing content such as special clips and self made videos for some of their b-side tracks, so if you decide to listen to their albums feel free to look them up!
Another beautiful track is Deja Vu, it came out in a special album that came after Nightmare but before Dystopia series and it was a collab for a mobile game King's Raid OST, both song and MV are otherworldly

They did also make MVs for B-Sides to all 3 songs. Sahara, Break The Wall, and Poison Love. The MVs are a bit different from their other MVs and worth checking out. I think you will really like Break the Wall.
I got pretty much the same meaning from Odd Eye song as you. Spot on breakdown as usual.
To quote Peter Dinklage from Game of Thrones: "If you think this is going to have a happy ending, you have not been paying attention." 😉 Dreamcatcher are going a bit into the future here, extrapolating how the world would turn out if we keep doing what we're doing. People can get lost in the world of the Internet and social media and their online personas can take over their life. Dreamcatcher ask us to use our odd eye to see through the lies (on Facebook and others) and don't be fooled by the "plausible lies overshadowed by sweetness". Very deep, as expected. And the song is a banger!

What the final line about not finding the utopia is actually one way of saying that utopia in this world does not truly exist anywhere because everyone will still say bad things and the internet will still spread evil and bad stuff. The message of this whole trilogy is one can only find utopia if a person can ignore all the negativities in the world and forgive ones self in short, utopia only exists inside each of us if we learn to be good and ignore all the negativities which is almost impossible to begin with.

I love Dreamcatcher but I rarely sit through an entire reaction video without skipping some parts. Fun fact that I found out after this came out. Apparently in Korean culture someone who is born with two different colored eyes, an odd eye, is thought to be able to see through lies. It definitely explains where they even got the idea from.

Dreamcatcher caught my eye thanks to UA-cam putting Odd Eye MV on my recommends over a year ago! I enjoyed them since then, they got plenty of fun content to watch!
I know that at first the message of Odd Eye seems sad, with the whole not finding Utopia deal, but I've always interpreted it with the last line of the chorus "Here isn't I've been looking for". This place, this virtual world, this glitchy illusion of perfect isn't MY Utopia. I can't find the Utopia in lies that everyone (including sometimes oneself) spreads as a reality. By covering my Odd Eye, I separate myself from the illusion, but I do not let go of the idea of having a better world. I know I probably won't find that perfect place, that I will need to fight against it, rather than trying to sugarcoat it. Then again, I take into account the whole trilogy for the final message. Dreamcatcher taught me in Scream and BOCA that we can rise above, go from being the ones screaming to the ones stopping people from spreading negativity (by closing their mouths). I can still make the world, the REAL world, a better place. Not the Utopia I dreamt of, but not the hell that I was living in at the beginning.
But I don't know, that's just my take 😹😹 Regardless, man, your analysis AS ALWAYS on point. So glad I found your channel, so glad you finished one of Dreamcatcher's storylines! Can't wait to see what other groups/artists you check out, cause your breakdown (and reactions, I mean, we were all you when that jaw-dropped, trust me 😹😹) is worth it! 🐯💜
It's almost as if unless you accept yourself, you will never find your "utopia"/peace, you are searching for something that has existed within you ALL THIS TIME. YES for sure they're amazing to me one of the TOP 3 kpop female group amoung hundreds .they're the most balanced group they're equally good in everything ,dance ,rap ,vocals . and they're for sure the most unique group with the fantasy /horror concept . when usualy kpop group came with girl crush or cute concept . we ( i'am korean ) usualy don't love scary thing so for that reason DREAMCATCHER IS more popular over sea than in they're own country . and that thing piss me of and make me sad .they're tp much underrated despite they're amazing talent in everything . they can be more popular as a JPOP group .because they suit more the japanese taste or european taste . but they're so cool ,kind and pretty even if they got 10 fans they enjoy doing they're thing. they got lot of content and they drop a MV or a special clip for almost all they're track even they're b-side .they're also like BTS they got lot of story telling in they're MV ODD EYE is the last part of the DYSTOPIA TRILOGIE . and they got many story .

After watching 3 reaction video of dreamcatcher from DG Reacts, I surely will comeback here for upcoming Dreamcatcher's comeback
Bruh, I not only completely understood what you said, you made total sense and pretty much nailed everything - like has anyone told you how freaking intelligent you are? You are picking up on all of these metaphors and visuals in a way that I've come to not expect reactors to do.
I think - for me personally - that the meaning is there is no Utopia virtually (Jiu being on fire while blindfolded - a call back to Scream's witch hunts maybe? - and Gahyeon's stickers representing a fake smile online while all you feel in reality is depression and sadness, and Sua's 'crying words' on her face, and Yoohyeon completely giving herself over into the Matrix's illusions, and Siyeon still being online, but disconnected emotionally, Handong maybe disconnecting in actuality) and Dami is the only one that realizes that the only Utopia can be found within. The world is a shitty, dark place for the most part - but there are glimpses of what it could be, of what it should be, and even if the playing up of it is a lie, there's still that kernel of truth.
This song always gives me chills. Medoly, vocals... its beautiful..

I would really love it for you to react to "BEcause" (their latest MV and an standalone story), "Deja vu" (another standalone story), "Endless night" (an japanese single, not so much storyline but an Indication of how heavy they go (there is no screamo but it certainly is metal)), and the nightmare series (beginning from their debut a 6 (or 7) part series).
All their title tracks contain some sort of rock influence but they seem to manage to make it different every time. When you are looking for some less rock driven songs, you should take a look at their newest 2 albums ("summer holiday" which contains their title track "BEcause" which has rock influences but is over all their least rocky album yet and "Dystopia: Road to Utopia" which contains "Odd Eye", has 1 song that has some rock influence ("Wind Blows"), 1 song that contains alot of it ("New Days") and 2 songs that have no rock influence at all).
Off course no pressure should be felt, you should react to anything you want whenever you feel like it. I advice you to only react to title tracks when you have some time because alot of their title tracks have these stories that have deeper (and double, tripple or even quadrouple) meanings like the dystopia triology.

not sure if anyone already say this but the end pose of the choreography of Odd Eye is the starting pose of Scream, wich means the story is a circle who keeps looping. And when they perfom live, they start with Odd eye and inmediatly after finish it,Scream starts, without rest.

This is one reason I love the shit out of Dreamcatcher. The substance in their stories is so impressive. You did an amazing job breaking things down, for real. I wish I was that perceptive without outside help, especially on the first go around. It took me a few watches to get the general overview and some reading to pick out the little things. I also love that Dreamcatcher stories aren't afraid to have a bad ending. They don't always have bad endings, but...well, you'll just have to find out. 😁
I do agree with others though that you should definitely check out "Deja Vu". It's a standalone story, but the way they are able to build a very moving literal AND symbolic story at the same time with is beyond admirable. Also, the music composition is so beautiful. I might just have some underlying problems with myself, but the way I interpret the events is more sad that than it already is. I'm a big empath so, if I'm not paying enough attention, "Deja Vu" will sometimes hit me right in the tear ducts. If anything though, for a song to move someone in that manner or make me acknowledge those underlying problems I mentioned, that's when you know you're dealing with actual fucking art.

Since you like the riff in the chorus and the build-up of the prechorus I really recommend you listen to the instrumental version since DC has an official version. It is truly *chef’s kiss*.
Also your first music video with Handong in it (In the second chorus the girl that sings second, who seems to be strangling her own reflection). She wasn’t in Scream or BOCA because she was stuck in China for promotion over there and when those ended everything was in lockdown and she couldn’t return.
I’m already looking forward to you next DC reaction. ( I recommend Deja Vu, very highly)

IMHO Odd Eye is a very little masterpiece : music & voice dialogue (the riff of guitar following the melody), the fact that there is no "happy moment" in music or any of the part. wonderful

Deja Vu, Rose Blue and BEcause don't follow a storyline, so you can start with Nightmare storyline or watch those that they shine by themselves. Deja Vu and Rose Blue are collabs with video games, Deja Vu was a comeback and Rose Blue wasn't. BEcause was the last comeback of 2021 and it's inspired in the horror movie Us.

And hell yeah, Dreamcatcher is sadly one of the most underrated groups in Korea even tho their talent is insane. Its pretty much the only group that never disappoints.

well you are mostly correct but I want to add a few points. the dystopia series is a criticism of social media so it's not that they are saying the real world sucks but that you shouldn't try to escape the real world through the internet, "wanting to change in a hurry". since anything online can be fake, when you drink the internet 'kool-aid' you develop an odd eye and view the real world through a distorted lens. the message as the lyrics go 'finally covering my eyes, odd eye' is to turn away from social media because it can be harmful to dive too deeply into a false utopia. their leader jiu said utopia only exists inside oneself and by accepting you for who you are, not for what strangers online think of you. a recurring theme throughout dreamcatcher's discography is to maintain your identity regardless of external pressures.

I really like how much thought is given to the lyrics and M/V with Dreamcatcher. They're really unique when it comes to storylines within the video (to me at least). Basically their entire discography is written by producers Leez (Lee Soomin) and Ollounder (Oh Jonghoon). They wrote DC's first tracks as part of Super Bomb, but after the first couple of releases it's been just them, with help from the girls themselves, and the occasional outside friend (like Maddox, who helped with the lyrics of Can't Get You Out of My Mind). The only ones they _haven't_ worked on are R.o.S.E. Blue (produced by ESTi), and a couple of Deukae's Japanese tracks.
They're also part of the Edenary team who produce Ateez' work.

Also noticed that Dami co-wrote What (obviously that'd be her rap parts), even though L&O didn't, and Yoohyeon worked with Siyeon on backing vocals for Trap, which I didn't realise she was doing that early.

hi!!! will you be checking out more of EVERGLOW? they're my favorite group in kpop, so when I saw you react to dun dun, i was so happy😭🥺 they are seriously such a special group, and I honestly have no doubts that you will fall in love with them after listening to more of their discography as well as maybe getting into their personalities in the future (which btw, these girls are incredible and have such amazing personalities, theyre so talented, passionate, hardworking, kind hearted, and just overall so amazing). I really reccomend watching their debut bon bon chocolat and adios next! since you already listened to dun dun, after listening to those two you can go onto ladida, first, and then pirate which is their most recent title track! or honestly you can go in any order you want of course! i just think youll really love bon bon chocolat and adios :) the group is made of 6 members as you saw in dun dun, and their names are mia, E:U, sihyeon, onda, yiren, and aisha! one of the members is chinese (yiren, who is also the maknae/youngest of the group) and the rest are fully korean! they also have a storyline called the "everglow universe" that runs throughout all their music videos and albums/bsides! the girls have told us to always pay attention to their lyrics in both their title tracks and bsides because it holds lots of hints and pieces to the storyline! you also really have to pay attention to their music videos along with the lyrics since obviously there are many parts of the storyline within the visuals. there are many theories to the everglow universe, and i am going to hopefully make a guide to the everglow universe and post it on my youtube channel so people can learn more about it and the theories :) their lore/storyline is seriously so complex and fascinating, its seriously amazing. everglow overall as a group are incredible and im so proud to stan such an amazing group like them. Sihyeon during one of their showcases gave a breif summary of their storyline, however this goes much deeper and the story and the roles each of the girls play is very complex and facsinating. here is what she said, "the EVERGLOW universe is basically about us girls from the future saving the earth and healing the wounded who are damaged by factors like pollution." Each of the girls also represent greek goddesses. Onda is Flora, Yiren is Hera, E:U is Gala, Mia is Athena, and Aisha is Metis. They also each have special powers/abilities that we arent quite sure of yet, but we know they exist! and, they have predebut "crank in films" that introduce all 6 of the girls, and there are many many hints of the everglow universe within those. all of their music video teasers also portray parts of the everglow universe. it really does go deep haha. i hope you fall in love with these girls in the future just like i have :) i love your videos and i subscribed and put post notifs on! 💜 also, our fandom name is "forever" ! they named us “forever” bc they want to be with us and eachother forever! the name means becoming one with everglow and being together forever. its very sweet :) and also clever because forever, for(everglow). get it haha?
