Jiu - fear of being chased Sua - fear of restraint Siyeon - claustrophobia Handong - fear of being stared (she spy him) Yoohyeon - fear of being lost (she makes him lost by changing the numbers of the rooms) Dami - fear of scar/pain (she rips the bear eyes) Gahyeon - fear of falling (she makes the books fall)
Jiu was 'chasing' the nightmare hunter the fear of restraint (Sua) could also be sleep paralysis! That's why she never *moved*, she was always still and the only 'movement' is in flashes, you don't see her walking or anything. Siyeon traps him in the room and keep the door closed

Hence, with their redebut and "repackage" as Dreamcatcher, their new sound is something fresh in the Kpop scene and instead of them chasing the public attention, they are also now asking the public to chase them as they bring something thrilling and outrageous to the "empty", boring and quiet Kpop scene with seven little present each day (i.e. themselves). Dami's rap about being pegged as a good girl also draw reference to what public expectation about the image of girl groups then (i.e. being cute and bright).
Ah, the MV that started it all! Now, this is not to confuse Japan and Korea, but is an acknowledgement of the nightmare series borrowing heavily from the looks/sounds of J-rock, so it's something that I consider fair game. Also all of the artwork in the hotel walls are macabre, using European artwork that started in during the 1350s outbreak of bubonic plague. So it's further confirmation to me that they're dead/not in a corporeal body. The outro of the MV is actually the *intro* into Good Night! (and that song goes fucking hard out of the gate.)

There is a theory about his smile at the end, which is super non-obvious, built by clues that come mainly from a promotional video (not a full MV, not even a minute and a half long) of a non-title song that is usually overlooked as a part of the Nightmare Series (Full Moon): he recognises one of the girls on the photo from when he was young.
dreamcatcher \:D/ one way to interpret their lyrics is to separate it from the visual plot - the mv is just for entertainment while the lyrics hold all the meaning and are often a reflection on themselves. I've mentioned before dreamcatcher often sings about being yourself and maintaining your identity in the face of public pressure. chase me fits into this recurring theme "what is a good kid? why do you try to fit me in that frame?" ... "even if you say I'm doing wrong or bad... this is the way I am." so along this line, "bite of a red apple" is to explore the forbidden and "want something thrilling" because "empty people" lack imagination and just follow the stereotypical norms like lemmings. this also relates to themselves, how they are moving away from the stereotypical norms of kpop girl groups and doing something that's taboo in the industry. "the quiet world is going to get a lot of noise" as they continually bring new music like colors of the rainbow or different presents each time. so 'chase me' is like dreamcatcher telling the industry they are not followers and will make such a bang that others will eventually have to follow. you've only checked out their title tracks but even then you can see each are very different. in terms of their b-sides, literally no two songs are of the same genre/sub-genre as they "hide in another dream" and "spread their curious imagination." so in this light, the whole nightmare series is not about nightmares as in bad/horrible dreams, but real life situational nightmares that trap people and make them lose sight of their real dreams/goals. a lot of dreamcatcher songs inspire people not to get worn by life and always follow their dreams and "break out of the nightmare" life's circumstances can bring. for dreamcatcher, the nightmare was being trapped in an industry with rigid norms which they tried to follow but failed. with their second chance, they would succeed or fail their own way.
Yes this one is their debut!! Good Night continues right after this one. After Good Night, Fly High which is the prequel to the two. It is the correct order the way you're watching it
Well, the chronological order they were released in, anyway. I ran across somebody a couple of years ago who said that DC had actually filmed Fly High before they filmed Chase Me but Happyface just thought that Chase Me would make for a better gut-punch of a debut song (I think they were correct, if that really is how things really went).
@@jamescurfman3284 Well, Fly High may have been written first, especially since it has different producers, but the Fly High MV was shot while they were in France which was after Chase Me / Good Night.
One of the hardest song to perform in K-POP (as confessed by members of DC)... Not the degree of difficulties, but this is such a fast song and they have to constantly move from beginning to the end... To think this is the "debut," writing was cemented on the wall that DC will be legendary... not only in K-POP, but in music in general... The heartaches original 5 went through after Minx project to the recent concert at the infamous Primavera Sound Festival, long and hard journey they went through, but so happy for their success and they deserve every single accolades!!
Again a great reaction! Loved how you decided midway that this had to be a double view reaction because you just wanted to enjoy the song the first time! This song can be interpreted in two (and probably more) different ways, the first is the story told in the mv which you absolutely got correct for this one (I'm however not gonna say anything about your predictions). The second one is the stroy told though the lyrics seperate from the mv, looking at the lyrics this way made some fans believe it is about them introducing the rock/metal sound into the kpop scene, their diversity covered in their b-sides and others "chasing" them (going into their footsteps) because of the success they have (but this never actually happening since their music has so many different genres). So this possible meaning is basically them announcing themselves and telling everyone to be scared... This first point is based on lyrics like "This quiet world is going to get a lot of noise, can you stop it, can you?". The second and third on lyrics like "chase me, catch me if you can it was really close (Dangerous) but I already left there (where will I go this time)" or "I'm so busy, I have lots of places to go (Chase me) I'll spread my curious imagination". EDIT: In the edit I added point 2 and 3 of the non-mv related possible meaning of the song.
You were right. The gist of the MV / song is that when they say "chase me" they are actually mocking the guy. They are daring him to chase them. You see, at this point they are only dreams, or more accurately nightmares and, as such, it would be impossible for him to catch them. All they have to do to avoid getting caught is hide in another dream, as the lyrics suggest. As I said, during this series they are nightmares (as the series name implies), not ghosts. They were cursed, not killed. I'll stop there, though. I don't want to spoil anything for you.
When you do Good Night, which this song leads into, I would also check out the dance practice either in a video or just for yourself offline. It's in my top 5 Dreamcatcher choreos.
There is a lot more to this storyline than was shown in this MV. This is just the beginning, you're in for a wild ride! The little melody you hear at the end after the song is over is from the next MV, Good Night. That continues the story right from where this one left off. For Chase Me I'll just say this: The DC girls were witches who at some point left the mortal realm and became nightmares. The ghost hunter was sent to this hotel to find out what happened to them. The picture you see in this video is from when they were still properly alive. And photographs like this hold a special significance in this storyline. I'll tell you more once you get deeper into this story.
Oh it's going to get 10x more interesting with each mv Do you want to know our theories and it's relation to the nightmare arc after you watch an mv without being spoiled for the future mvs? If you do then we'll be happy to explain the story from what we know without any spoilers for your upcoming reactions of the nightmare arc ❤️
Dreamcatcher is the Bring Me the Horizon of Kpop. People didnt like them because of how they sound and how they experiment with their sounds. But they are both amazing musically.
Hey hey Before u start the 2nd song goodnight!!!! listen to the "music box melody" at the end of chase me then immediately start goodnight. You'll thank me for that!
for me chase me was always 2 storylines (like many of their MV's) The video tells the "Story" they want to portrait... the Lyrics in this case is about Dreamcatcher themselves, their story and their new debut.
Yes! The highly anticipated nightmare series reactions! First of all, nice to see you enjoy this awesome song. Secondly, nobody knows the storyline for sure since the company has never explained it. Which leaves everybody free to interpret it in their own way (keeping the storyline vague may have been on purpose). There is however a general opinion, but I'll try not to tell you about it so you can come to your own conclusion, which is the best part about watching these reactions, honestly. "What will he do with that information?", well I guess you'll have to watch the next video (Good Night) :D My recommended order would be (but don't let me stop you from reacting to B-sides in between): - Good Night - Fly High (is the prequel) - You and I - What - Piri - Breaking Out (general opinion is that is the alternate ending. It's a japanese song and is on the PonyCanyon channel)
I imagine you're going to follow the release order, so it'll be easier to interpret something after Fly High (its actually a prequel, as the album name says) and don't leave out Breaking Out at the end, despite being a japanese release it is considered an alternate ending and is one of the songs you loved when you heard a bit in the guide
I will never understand the thinking behind this (re-)debut. They went from cute to basically rock/metalish. I mean I get it, they wanted to do something different but still. It feels unreal. Imagine Slipknot going Nickelback. ^^ Also, I will be forever glad that they did this. Dreamcatcher is my favorite group/band like ever. I love everything they do (except JiU's and Gahyeon's solo, I just can't listen to those songs). But still. Dreamcatcher forever!
They did not stand out enough as Minx. They fell behind before they even started because the market was already FULL of the cutesey stuff from girl groups. What other alternative was there, besides completely disbanding (which could have bankrupted Happyface and caused the members to go get normal jobs or be severely depressed for a LONG time)? Obviously we are all glad this worked out as well as it did. It's really just too bad that it took this damned long for the awesome group to get their wins (not their fault at all)! They have deserved to win from WAY before now. Chase Me deserved a win. Well, MOST of the Nightmare arc deserved to win, really.
I love your mental gymnastics that you do that allows you to figure out the story lines. The guy is either a ghost chaser or exorcist. The girls are nightmares each representing a different fear. If you were to watch these in release order, the story will eventually make sense, once you get to Fly high you'll put it all together.
OK! Let's go! Nightmare series!! If you worry about the order, just follow to the song release day to react. It really can't to imagine this one is just a debut song! With all of this quality and their own worldview in that period. They are treasure!❤❤ And a little remind, remember the outro of this. You will have a little surprise on the Good night mv. :)
So happy u went back to the begining! Im looking forward to experiencing their journey again. Can i recommend that u also watch their dance practices? Either separate or in the same recording. But i think u should definitely look at those too!
To understand Dreamcatcher, there is this guide of guides "Dodging disbandment and other extreme sports". I know you watched a guide but it is a MUST WATCH.
Omgggg I can't wait to watch your reaction for all of the mv's in order 😆😆 Please make a reaction for their b-sides as well, I swear you will not be disappointed 🥺 Edit: Actually, looking back at the lyrics and chase me being their debut song, it's as if Dc was implying those words to insomnia. They definitely turned our world upside down since their debut 😵💫.
I Love the Nightmare series for providing a really cool DreamCatcher origin story arc but I always feel the real life references more. Its a part of the DC Girls as "Nightmares" story but doubles as the transitional debut song from Minx ---> Dreamcatcher. The B side to single "Chase Me" is very much about the transition as well but in a much less confrontational way , "Emotion" = retrospective ballad. For [Chase Me] I see the investigator/hunter in the video as "korean music industry standards." I.E The DreamCatcher girls know of and feel the pressure to conform but are not going to be caught. Gonna be who they want, show the art they want to and live out their dreams fueled by their own curiosity = Embody their own dreams as well as the dreams of their fans while playing tricks on those who would try to trap or control them. Feel the lyrics are meant for OG fans of Minx as well as new potential fans of DreamCatcher tho. A warning that their music is going to keep changing so don't get overly comfortable and an invitation to come along for the ride cuz they wont allow themselves to become "empty"=boring. Years out from "Chase Me." Dreamcatcher are still living out and expanding on that promise. Seven little presents every day turned into Seven self-written solo tracks. Really love that they performed Chase Me as part of their set at Primavera.
Yasssss!!! "GOODNIGHT" IS NEXT!!!! Continue the videos in order. It tells a story! Every member represents a nightmare. Im so hyped..i love dreamcatcher and this was such a great (but underated) debut! #NostalgiaOverload
I am a InSomnia not so long ago but what I can remember the whole story it's about the 7 girls (dreamcatcher members) that were witches, I don't remember now the real reason but it ended going bad somehow, the man in the MV it's a supernatural researcher/witcher hunter and heard about this story of 7 girls playing with black magic (as we can see they in a circle with a doll and a book in the middle with candles, like a cult) so he went to discover what happened. The girls want him to break this spell that made them not fully "die" so they are ghosts/nightmare now but at the same time they find it funny mess with him, we can see in some parts like throwing the books off the bookshelf, not letting him out the room, making all the hotel rooms/orphanage number 808 so he can't find the room etc (can be understood like the girls turned out cursed with 7 fears) At the end we can see he discovered that the girls actually before "dying" used/lived in the room beside the one he is but we can see it's closed and he breaks in, he finally can look better at what the girls wanted and why they used black magic/cult because he now have the room with all the old things the girls had there, that's why he smiles because is happy to have answers now and like you said isnt afraid. The sequence for the story is "Good Night" with the song "Fly High" being the first chapter of the thrilogy!
Saw I made some mistakes and corrected it since I don't remember well the story, the curses can be named as fear of falling/height, getting lost, being watched, pain, restrain and claustrophobia.
I'm so happy that you are finally going deep in the dreamcatcher songs, Thank you so so much. Actually in the initial concept our girls are nightmares or fears each one of them.
they're not ghosts, they're nightmares! :"] that's way scarier imo because ghosts are out there but nightmares are inside your head /also, in the mv, that's why he doesn't get anything in the camera, they're in his head
Petition to see either an Album reaction for "Dystopia The Tree of Language" or a Metal Special with "Endless night" and "don't light my fire". With that Guide Video you pointed out so many Songs from that exact Album and also endless night. Since you're a metalhead (i think i Heard you say that some time) the second Thing as a Metal Special haha Or a start to the Nightmare series. I'm very sure you might enjoy the older Songs a little more as Songs since they're much more rock heavy. Either way, have fun with your Journey 👏🏼 Copy pasted this from the last video haha It's meant to be after the Nightmare series of course :)
Maybe once you finish the nightmare series you should see if you can find a theory video to help explain the storyline some, I don’t wanna post anything to spoil the rest of the series. But the “storyline” does start with fly high… that’s all I’m going to say.
DG if you want the proper order of this story line it's Full Moon ( no mv for this song ) Fly high first mv of the story line Chase me Good night You and I What Piri Breaking out end of the story .
u r soo cool!! I love like you always see some tiny details. :) the nightmare trilogy tbh is trilogy!! it's included Fly High (prequel) and pretty sure Breaking Out (Japenise relise, like the end of trilogy!!)
I know this isn’t the point of the video lol but I was not expecting a Supernatural reference and I’m sure if Dean were there, the whole episode would just be him talking about how hot these ghosts are 😂
Really glad you're going through the Nightmare series, it's such a great series and I'm looking forward to getting your thoughts on it. I hope you also plan on continuing with Pixy too, cause they absolutely should be getting attention as well (they're having a comeback in a couple of weeks, albeit short a member due to some personal reasons).
yeah but a lot of people prefer for reactors to watch chase me and goodnight before fly high ; although fly high is the prequel, imo watching it first makes it a little more confusing to understand the storyline
@@lanango5152 to be even more specific the very first song of the story line is FULL MOON i remember a litttle clip with a young JIU and a young withes hunter flirting together .
i try to explain you that mv without spoiler's but because you didn't see the story in order it's difficult . 1 the girls are witches and they're chase by a witches hunter . 2 they 're in an orphanage or a school for girls . 3 you can see a picture of the girls they seems happy and kind you can discover why in fly high mv . 4 some props like the picture and the book of magic are a very important thing in that story line . 5 each girls represente a fear or a nightmare ( you will discover later what kind of fear and nightmare each girls représente .) 6 you're right the "hunter " is no afraid by them for a good reason ( you will know why ) in other mv's 7 so far you didn't know if they're dead and want revenge or if they're alive and use witches trick to mind fuck him . ( you will know that after) 8 the ritual " the seven presents " are seven fear or seven curse given to our girls .
Of course I will, they have a new MV coming out on Friday as well, so I wouldn't miss it for the world :) Lots of content out there with all kinds of groups so it's easy to get lost a bit but I will always have BTS reactions on here, even if it's not as frequent as I would like :)

Handong - fear of being watched/spied on (she watches him through the window and the peep hole, also her appearance on the table where the light flashes on her)
Yoohyeon - fear of being lost (she changes the room numbers)
Dami - fear of being hurt (she's the one ripping the eyes off the bear and she's the only one you don't see in the 'old style' dresses)
Gahyeon - fear of falling (tossing the books off the shelf, you see it better in Good Night which is next)

:)
Happy that you enjoy them so much. As a rock/metal fan myself they were just so easy to get into. Good music paired with a lot of talent.
This was the first song they sing in Primavera Sound here in Barcelona ❤️
Last seconds of this song are the beggining in "Good Night" by them
Oh it's going to get 10x more interesting with each mv
Do you want to know our theories and it's relation to the nightmare arc after you watch an mv without being spoiled for the future mvs?
"What will he do with that information?", well I guess you'll have to watch the next video (Good Night) :D
My recommended order would be (but don't let me stop you from reacting to B-sides in between):
- Good Night
- Fly High (is the prequel)
- You and I
- What
- Piri
- Breaking Out (general opinion is that is the alternate ending. It's a japanese song and is on the PonyCanyon channel)
DC opened with Chase Me at Primavera!
I remember this song being my favorite and not knowing that it was their debut. Until now I love it and it is still one of my faves ^-^
I will never understand the thinking behind this (re-)debut. They went from cute to basically rock/metalish. I mean I get it, they wanted to do something different but still. It feels unreal. Imagine Slipknot going Nickelback. ^^
Also, I will be forever glad that they did this.
Glad to see you found the start of the earliest Dreamcatcher songs!
Ughhh I love so much this nightmares storyline.. one of solid debut 👍
Thumbs up for the Supernatural reference 😀
I love your mental gymnastics that you do that allows you to figure out the story lines. The guy is either a ghost chaser or exorcist. The girls are nightmares each representing a different fear. If you were to watch these in release order, the story will eventually make sense, once you get to Fly high you'll put it all together.
Thank you for reacting to Dreamcatcher
So glad you decided to start at the beginning. The nightmare series is quite hard to understand sometimes. Really looking forward to your analysis.
OK! Let's go! Nightmare series!! If you worry about the order, just follow to the song release day to react.
It really can't to imagine this one is just a debut song! With all of this quality and their own worldview in that period. They are treasure!❤❤
And a little remind, remember the outro of this. You will have a little surprise on the Good night mv. :)
So happy u went back to the begining! Im looking forward to experiencing their journey again. Can i recommend that u also watch their dance practices? Either separate or in the same recording. But i think u should definitely look at those too!
I've been waiting for your reactions to their previous tracks.. huhuh so happy!
To understand Dreamcatcher, there is this guide of guides "Dodging disbandment and other extreme sports". I know you watched a guide but it is a MUST WATCH.
Omgggg I can't wait to watch your reaction for all of the mv's in order 😆😆 Please make a reaction for their b-sides as well, I swear you will not be disappointed 🥺
Edit: Actually, looking back at the lyrics and chase me being their debut song, it's as if Dc was implying those words to insomnia. They definitely turned our world upside down since their debut 😵💫.
When you consider this came out in 2017, it makes it even more legendary when you consider the kpop scene then.
The girls want him to break this spell that made them not fully "die" so they are ghosts/nightmare now but at the same time they find it funny mess with him, we can see in some parts like throwing the books off the bookshelf, not letting him out the room, making all the hotel rooms/orphanage number 808 so he can't find the room etc (can be understood like the girls turned out cursed with 7 fears)
At the end we can see he discovered that the girls actually before "dying" used/lived in the room beside the one he is but we can see it's closed and he breaks in, he finally can look better at what the girls wanted and why they used black magic/cult because he now have the room with all the old things the girls had there, that's why he smiles because is happy to have answers now and like you said isnt afraid.
The sequence for the story is "Good Night" with the song "Fly High" being the first chapter of the thrilogy!
More or less yeah
Saw I made some mistakes and corrected it since I don't remember well the story, the curses can be named as fear of falling/height, getting lost, being watched, pain, restrain and claustrophobia.
best debut ever (literally)
I'm so happy that you are finally going deep in the dreamcatcher songs, Thank you so so much. Actually in the initial concept our girls are nightmares or fears each one of them.
they're not ghosts, they're nightmares! :"]
that's way scarier imo because ghosts are out there but nightmares are inside your head
/also, in the mv, that's why he doesn't get anything in the camera, they're in his head
OMG amé esta reacción y me alegro que hayas reaccionado a esta joyita de grupo plis reacción a "Deja vu" de este mismo grupo 🥺
their earlier songs have more complex song structure and arrangements compared to their new ones
I'm upset that I can only like this video one time.
Yeeees. I've been waiting for thissss. Thank youuuu
I love Dreamcarchet ♥️
I've been waiting for this reaction! Thank you
YES! Dreamcatcher 👍💕💕
Petition to see either an Album reaction for "Dystopia The Tree of Language" or a Metal Special with "Endless night" and "don't light my fire".
With that Guide Video you pointed out so many Songs from that exact Album and also endless night. Since you're a metalhead (i think i Heard you say that some time) the second Thing as a Metal Special haha
Or a start to the Nightmare series. I'm very sure you might enjoy the older Songs a little more as Songs since they're much more rock heavy. Either way, have fun with your Journey 👏🏼
Copy pasted this from the last video haha
It's meant to be after the Nightmare series of course :)
So it begins!
Great reaction, and I loved the Supernatural reference!
As usual, love your analysis to DC storylines and songs. 👍
React to Piri by dreamcatcher it's one of their best
I'm so excited for you to watch and listen to their other songs. You'll surely enjoy it :>
I was just about to sleep but then I thought let's watch UA-cam a bit. It's 1:20AM. Rip sleep 👍🏻 welcome to the nightmare ✨
Hell yeah
Maybe once you finish the nightmare series you should see if you can find a theory video to help explain the storyline some, I don’t wanna post anything to spoil the rest of the series. But the “storyline” does start with fly high… that’s all I’m going to say.
You'll have the most beautiful nightmare✨🌚
DG if you want the proper order of this story line it's
Full Moon ( no mv for this song )
Fly high first mv of the story line
Chase me
Good night
You and I
What
Piri
Breaking out
end of the story .
Long time coming
❤❤❤❤🫂 dreamcatcher!!!!!
really like to see you react and analysis dc mv, come here to support
u r soo cool!! I love like you always see some tiny details. :)
the nightmare trilogy tbh is trilogy!! it's included Fly High (prequel) and pretty sure Breaking Out (Japenise relise, like the end of trilogy!!)
I know this isn’t the point of the video lol but I was not expecting a Supernatural reference and I’m sure if Dean were there, the whole episode would just be him talking about how hot these ghosts are 😂
Tienes que ver Good night es la continuación de Chase me
Ambas son mis canciones favoritas
Más bien amo todas sus canciones en especial You and I
Really glad you're going through the Nightmare series, it's such a great series and I'm looking forward to getting your thoughts on it. I hope you also plan on continuing with Pixy too, cause they absolutely should be getting attention as well (they're having a comeback in a couple of weeks, albeit short a member due to some personal reasons).
please react to all dreamcatcher songs you will love them
nop the right order is FLY HIGH , CHASE ME is the second MV of the story line . but not many people know that . because they drop CHASE ME first .
yeah but a lot of people prefer for reactors to watch chase me and goodnight before fly high ; although fly high is the prequel, imo watching it first makes it a little more confusing to understand the storyline
@@lanango5152 to be even more specific the very first song of the story line is FULL MOON i remember a litttle clip with a young JIU and a young withes hunter flirting together .
Finally :D

After you've watched the trilogy, you should check out an explanation video to see how your interpretation matches up!
I love Dreamcatcher. After you watch the nightmare trilogy you should watch Fly High which is a prequel to this.
I’m pretty sure fly high is part of the nightmare series. It’s storyline wise where you’d have to watch fly high first.
Please react to Sahara:)
i try to explain you that mv without spoiler's but because you didn't see the story in order it's difficult .
1 the girls are witches and they're chase by a witches hunter .
2 they 're in an orphanage or a school for girls .
3 you can see a picture of the girls they seems happy and kind you can discover why in fly high mv .
4 some props like the picture and the book of magic are a very important thing in that story line .
5 each girls represente a fear or a nightmare ( you will discover later what kind of fear and nightmare each girls représente .)
6 you're right the "hunter " is no afraid by them for a good reason ( you will know why ) in other mv's
7 so far you didn't know if they're dead and want revenge or if they're alive and use witches trick to mind fuck him . ( you will know that after)
8 the ritual " the seven presents " are seven fear or seven curse given to our girls .
Hii can you please react to pixy bewitched !
You're so good at these MV storylines. You'd love the Enhypen storyline.
Please react to Pink Fantasy. 🧘
I'm beginning you, would love to hear your details and opinions regarding them.
Please please react to vixx voodoo doll
Please React to CLC - "NO", "Black Dress", "Hobgoblin", "Me" isa BOPS
Will you actually react to BTS again ? If you want to obviously :"D I just love how you interpret it and stuff you are amazing :)
Of course I will, they have a new MV coming out on Friday as well, so I wouldn't miss it for the world :) Lots of content out there with all kinds of groups so it's easy to get lost a bit but I will always have BTS reactions on here, even if it's not as frequent as I would like :)
