I have slowly put together a build similar but 2WD your videos are very good. Thanks for all the time and commitment I’ve taken so much from each to put together my version of a modern 2WD Sport Truck
I installed a CAI intake on my 2016 Silverado 5.3L and had the PCM and TCM tuned by Diablew. With both I now pull 415 WHP and 432 WTQ (was on the dyno in 2021) with a fully stock exhaust and manifold. A tune will really wake that truck up! EDIT: I did achieve these numbers with the traction off, stabilitrak off, and in tow/haul mode.
I couldn’t agree more, a solid tune really opens up the truck and lets it rip how it should. I have a 2014 Silverado 5.3L with CAI, flowmaster 40 series, and diablew tune. Never got it on the dyno but those numbers look great, good to know roughly what I’m pushing!
@@kylemckinnon8468 oh I couldn’t be happier with my tune and CAI. Lew really knocked it out of the park with the results. Here I was only trying to disable the AFM and remove the ‘dead pedal’ and now I have full power with my truck!
Gen 3 still stands as the best version of all of the LS engine variations. Also, we have the TBSS and FAST Intakes for the ultimate performance when paired with a Stage 2 cam, 90mm, 92mm, or 102mm throttle body and long tube headers. A 6.0 LQ4 will even further increase the output of these combined bolt-ons.
Hello and congrats on a successful AFM/DOD deletion! I am a big fan now and happy I ran into your videos! I have a couple of questions. Are you or do you presently have a permanent check engine light on your dash? Did you also install a shift kit on your transmission? Did you delete your four wheel drive system? I'm asking because I need to keep my four wheel drive system. I am also thinking about purchasing a 5.3 so I can keep using my truck while I am working on my engine. What do you think? Again, congrats on a successful delete!
Thanks! I did not delete 4x4 and I do not have a permanent light. The truck must be tuned before turning it on. That is very important. I have an EVAP leak currently that occasionally throws a code but no permanent light.
Which intake? If the tube diameter or placement of the maf in the tube is different than stock it can cause a light. In that case you'll need to adjust the tune.
I've had an AIRAID intake on my Silverado for a few years, I like the sound it makes when i accelerate. Not sure if i notice any more power on the butt dyno.
Hey I have a question/issue. I had the dod delete and upgraded to a stage 2 cam kit from TSP. I’m now getting a P0011 code “a camshaft position-timing over advanced or system performance bank 1” it did not throw the code as soon as the truck was turned back on. It threw after the truck was tuned and after I drove it around. It does have unleaded that’s been sitting for a while. I know i need to run that gas out and put premium. Is this a gas issue or tuning issue or both? Thanks!
What was you absolutely 100% stock dyno number? I've seen 280-295ish rwhp with 320ish tq for most. To be at 340 and 385 is mind blowing without a Stage 2-4 cam. Just curious. The dynapack is great but maybe the hub vs. Giant heavy wheels is a larger factor too?
Sadly the original numbers were done on a different Dyno. If you look up part 1 you can see those results there. It also did not have the upgraded drive shaft so we couldn't do a true pull like I had hoped :(
I put a 6.2 intake and throttle body on my 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 this past weekend, once I plug in the new throttle body my truck automatically goes into " Reduce Power Mode". wont idle correctly, acts like it has a massive cam upgrade, truck wont go much faster than 40 on the street. I did the factory relearn process, didn't work, also I have HP Turner, did the Max airflow change, did the Throttle Clean procedure, still " Reduce Power Mode". I can plug in my stock throttle body and in goes back into normal mode. I am about to pull my hair out, LOL. Do you have any ideas on what is causing the issue. Full disclosure the 6.2 Intake and Throttle body are both off a L89 Gen 5 6.2 liter, brand new no miles. I also have another 6.2 throttle body from another Eng, same year, same result. Thanks in advance for any help.
Mine was doing the same thing after installing the 6.2 manifold and TB I did different test with no results, I went and bought a new 6.2 hitachi TB from Oreillys after installing no more reduce power mode and no check engine light.

Wow those are great numbers! Do you know if they did 3rd or 4th gear pulls? Are you running an aftermarket cam?
And yes, we had to command 4th gear and manually lock the torque converter via HP tuners or we couldnt get it to hold the gear properly
@@TheSundaeDrive third gear, stock cam. The third gear pulls really hard on the highway at WOT

These l83 benefit a lot from intake , but some people still live in gen 3 generation mentality with airaid tubes only lol
Yeah really surprised how much it picked up

We had an intake filter kit cause the cel to come on on a customers truck about 3 months after install. 2014 Silverado 5.3

Was it an oiled filter? I've heard that dry element filters are preferable to avoid air flow sensor issues.
I only used dry filters. Too many potential issues with oiled
@@jiimmyboy63 it was an oiled filter
That could have been the source of the problem.

It picked up more power than I expected but need a lot to notice it in the seat for sure.
I put an S&B on my 2018 and I really like it. I also got 2.5 mpg better, all around, Hwy/street. The sound the, added power. Love it.
Lot of room on these trucks for a really big air filter and I'm definitely impressed by the added power
Hi there enjoy your podcasts,I have a 4.8 sierra 2009 1500 single cab 2 wheel drive, how about some info on this engine.
Is there any plans in the future to add a under drive / power pulley kit & get DYNO results ?
I likely will add a blower at some point but not sure. Next big project for the truck will be suspension since it's stock and has 136K miles on it now
I am shocked the air intake improved by that much.

Can you tune the touring mode as a gas saver and sports mode as a race mode as in 2 different tunes?

Do you need to tune when swapping the L86 intake and TB? Or just bolt on
It worked just bolting on for me but a tune will take better advantage of it

Where are you located & most important are you for hire?
I'm changing the fluid on my transfer case and on my front differential they are both aluminum. should I do them hot or cold?
Slightly warm will drain faster but I do not believe it matters for the fill. Only one that can be affected is the transmission normally.
Are you going to add a catback?
As of right now I'm not planning to. Planning some other mods and don't want it too loud.
