    What is ironic is that the IAF keeps complaining about depleting squadron strength yet they dilly dally when it comes to giving orders. Here we have in-house ability to build the aircrafts and yet orders aren't given in satisfactory numbers.
    What the IAF must accept is that sometimes quantity is also essential. Even with respect to quality the Tejas is a pretty decent package besides nothing is perfect. Look at the F-35 for instance.

    I really don't understand IAF/Goi statergy. Why can't we order more Tejas mk1a?? 40m/piece means 1 billion will get us 25 fighters. 6 billion will give us 150 Tejas mk1a!!! It's much cheaper to fly Tejas mk1a than any other planes including mk2 and amca. Yes 6-9 squadron of mk2 and 4 squadron of amca is perfect but why can't we have 250 Tejas mk1a fighters?? Low cost, low Maintenance and with now availability of metrioe missile it can be more effective?? I really want mfra scrapped and more desi fighters. If there is serious security requirement we can go for 36 more Rafael. But no 20 billion dollar mfra. It doesn't make any sense to me

    • @pravindahiya719
      @pravindahiya719 Рік тому

      Tejas mk 1A is very expensive as compared to Su-30 . Further , when Air Force can get Su-30 having double the range ( carrying double the payload ) ; why mk1A ?
      the reason for 40 + 83 is only to develop a supply chain in private sector , which will be helpful for future aircrafts production.
      Su-30 spooked AIM 120 from a Pakistani F-16.
      Tejas mk 1 doesn't even have a self protection jammer ; if it is carried on a pylon - one lesser missile !

      A needle can't do what a sword can, and vice versa. We need both needle and sword. Tejas is an lca and has very less range. It's best for point defence. But for long range operations, we need medium and heavy weight fighters.

    • @kaho6891-
      @kaho6891- Рік тому +1

      @@pravindahiya719 Tejas mk1a cost is 40m su 30mki cost is 62m(without modernization). Tejas mk1a is 4.5gen vs su30 mki 4+ gen Comparing both is completely wrong, both are used for different needs. Btw Tejas just doesn't have spj infact it has advance spj.

    • @kaho6891-
      @kaho6891- Рік тому

      @@anuragdwivedi5581 agreed, but comparing Tejas mk1a to needle and other jets in medium category as sword doesn't completely justify. Even if we sign mrfa2.0 deal by 2024 beginning at best production will only start by 2026-27. Tejas mk2 series production is expected at 2028-29. So no point in buying 114 jets of similar calibre when our desi jets will do at fraction of price. Like I said to fill immediate stop gap 36 additional Rafael costing 5 billion should suffice rather than going to setup entire production line for 5 squadron of whatever will win in mfra2.0 for 20 billion.

    • @asmodeus3084
      @asmodeus3084 Рік тому

      You are saying use 40 bikes to do a bus's job. IAF will order as per their requirement. Light jet missions are different from medium or heavy jet missions.. No use in buying and keeping them if you don't need that many.
      It's risky to use them for surveillance because of weaker Radar, cannot use them as an offensive because of limited fuel, cannot use them as air superiority because of less a2a missiles payload.
      What will it cost? Time to train pilots - at least 2years each, valuable pilots who can otherwise use another useful jet, all economic and other burdens like manpower, experts, trainers, strategists.

    Also, there is disambiguity about the combat radius of the Tejas mk1a. It should increase by at least 10% if the weight has been reduced.

    If we very serious to compete with China and want to become top 5 in global arms exporter then our production line must capable to produce 100-150 aircraft per year.
    Think what capacity China has 350 aircraft per year already. And we 12-24-30 are we really serious?
    Increase OEM and invite more and more private party in this segment.

    Hey Alpha, what is your opinion on the Antonov AN-70? It is a 47 Ton capacity cargo aircraft from Antonov Ukraine. Currently 2 of its prototypes have been built and it is open for production. However looking at the war, chances are that the project could be dead in the water.
    What if India stepped in and agreed to purchase the tech, and make it an indigenous project? This way the issue of ageing IL-76s and our cargo aircraft woes could be solved indigenously with a rather quick solution. I was wondering about this idea, and would've loved to hear your opinion on it.

      We Should, Absolutely as that would help in covering the Strategic Airlift Category.... but not now...As long as the war doesn't end and the conditions are not favourable ie if Europe is normalised which isn't looking the case near future...It is a very sticky situation....we won't be able to move forward with neither AN 70, Akula Class Lease, Lider Class Cruisers, PAKDA, Tupolev Tu-160, T-14 Armata, S500 Nor Additional Su-30s or S400....It is really an F'ed up situation for us.... These are not feasible now and even if the war is over it won't be very possible to balance Russia and Ukraine/EU....

    which facility is producing the ' trainer variants ' ?
    WHY will the other facilities produce mk 1A only AFTER the trainers are delivered ?
    The Air Force may give additional orders before this order is completed
    or
    may be if ADA delivers mk 2 sooner - why won't Air Force go with additional orders of mk 2 instead of mk1A ?
    when HAL had informed govt "we have started the work with internal funds"
    why start counting 36 months AFTER ...?
    This attitude of HAL is the reason the govt doesn't have as much trust in HAL as it should be
    & avoiding giving BIGGER orders for say MRFA - Su-35, MiG-35 !
    they are capable aircrafts & available at lower costs than Tejas mk 1A but still NOT being considered - WHY ?
    because their obvious producer will be HAL with a track record of going on strike exactly when DOKLAM started heating up - halting the production of ALREADY 5 YEARS LATE
    SU -30 !
    Sorry Subodh ! but i can't pardon that work strike & that shouldn't be !
