Brilliant discussion by Abhijit. He is right when he says three things most important for India to grow- 1)Basic Education, 2) Basic Healthcare, 3) Basic law and order. Next podcast should be on Reservation and Donation System specifically in Healthcare and Brain Drain from India
Reservation is the elephant in the room. And tbh, I don't think people will let it be removed. The only solution is to just end the monopoly of government companies because private players can't afford charity on investors' money like how a government can with taxpayers ' money.

Oh My God….Absolutely Absolutely correct!! Someone has to speak up the truth!! Very well said!! Someone has the guts to speak up about ‘Real India’ and the problem it is facing while every other guest in every podcast is selling this prejudice of India being a superpower sitting in a air conditioned room with lakhs in bank account. Don’t get me wrong, I too agree that India is growing but it has just taken 1 step in thousands and have a very long way to go. As said, India is not just about Mumbai, Bangalore; travel to small cities/ rural India to know the sufferings!! We can’t solve a problem until we admit it.
Exactly, and I have seen people making opinions and generalising things on the basis of their narrow vision based on their experience with limited number of people in India they have been exposed to,and just on that basis they assume that they know about the whole country.
The point about opium war is true. This is how TATAs made money in early days (much before independence) Amitav Ghosh has written lot of books on opium war.
I am truly optimistic about India. We are at right place, right time and govt framing right policies will definitely benefit us. I agree there are internal problems, but gradually we will get rid of those. Let's work together keeping our religion, cast and beliefs aside and make this nation great. We should ride this wave which will lead us to success.
@@jonathanalvinrays..7070 That is NOT true! IF ever any government has worked rather sincerely with great results is the present one!! Else, politicians are more or less the mirror of the people they represent!!
Raj, the only problem with us is that we Indians underestimate ourselves. I am presently living in Europe and trust me urban India is doing much better in all the 3 aspects mentioned in the podcast. Rural India is lacking behind but it will also rise and shine very soon.
By the way, I tend to lean towards the optimistic side propounded by Raj.Indian people are intelligent and can absorb technology quickly. This gives me so much confidence about Indian future.❤ Yes the challenges are many as pointed out by Abhijeet.
What an absolutely fantastic episode, Raj! The debate towards the end gave an output that I've not seen ever. Plus the examples and inferences were spot on. Make this a series, please. The simplicity of breaking down complex topics for everyone is much appreciated. Cheers. 💯🆙✅
Abhijit just speaks like a Politician.. Speak with reality, he need to understand how things works in India.. What we are seeing is a Big Growth!! Well said and concluded by Raj!!
It was fantastic! I personally love listening and reading to Geopolitics and India specific issues., And it was a treat specially because the way Abhijit explained it, from the very ground level. Also, it was super fun to listen to Raj's counter optimist approach, really learned a thing or two there. One request, please bring Abhijit Chavda too on this podcast. He is almost as good as AIM
Abhijit Chavda bases his analysis on evidence unlike AIM with half truths & partial analysis like: 1. Hindus along with Parsis forced British to wage war for opium sale to China!! 2. India should adjust on POK with Pakistan: He doesn't consider that Pak has already stolen Indian lands without any exchange of the separatist population!! 3. He says EU imposes strict budget deficit limits unlike Indian states without knowing that most EU states rarely follow those limits! All in all, he is as much a Ghonchu as he claims Indians to be!
Your second analysis is spot on. But can you elaborate on the Opium issue? I too feel that Abhijit said that willy-nilly. Because the British even fought the Chinese for this issue and the ((Opium wars)) took place. In the history of mankind, *never* have I ever come across the colonizer/oppressor waging wars for the benefit of their servants. Han, *IF* lets suppose -- the business class of India at that time benefitted somehow -- they must've fed on meagre crumbs left by the British. @@rka-truthalwayswins5127 And in the second Opium war, the French and the English were allied against China. Did the French give their "dirty money" to these alleged Indian businessmen too? The French never had a hold on Bombay or other Parsi community-centric regions-- to get involved and fight their wars for them.
@@rka-truthalwayswins5127 Like Abhijit Chavda more , AIM provides drama , humour and contrarian view and extreme cricticism . Good to get motivated , but not to be taken too seriouly , all the things country has worked on hard inluding jet technolgy it is dificiult , even china is not able to succed reliablty

Good one Raj, your argument on the basis of optimism is exactly what we need at this moment. We Indians are known for being hard core critics, pessimistic and always asking question type of people. Its time that we change our attitude and approach. Every country has its own problems, but they all grow on some foundation and we will grow on optimism and hope as one of the foundations.

Explained in such a manner that any tier 4 5 city, village person can understand(aka The stunted population :p) ===== Between 15 and 20 mins mark, Raj brings up 3 ways to get power 1. (Farming IMO) - Fiscally irresponsible, No upper limit on subsidies like EU states. - Police to Population so low, also low quality - Malnourished 45%, 33% stunting, cognitive stunting too. - Yearning power >> Earning power

Raj, your optimism wins my mind and heart. Its the reality we are facing since generations. Not the negative thoughts, which Iyer Sir is representing....
Why the current generation doesn't want to understand that we want balance all the three sector of an economy 1.agriculture is imp for food 2.manufacuring sector for final product 3.service sector for giving services India main problem is not gdp india main problem is income inequality Whole capitalism is going to transfer in socialism As per economic cycle move
Another massive intellectual dose..what a podcast.. loved it.. I loved the counter and encounter game you guys played.. Dr Abhijit is an asset for his global strategic understanding and he speaks from his heart backed up by brain.. couple of points I observed are like Dr Abhijit's analogy of India as that Bhikari in temple was not appropriate in terms of India is being looked at as a biggest market and world know it has a purchasing power..we don't beg and get it free.. but of course his point of skilled brains to absorb that technology is a reality.. coming on to your point of optimism, it's great to hear you but you missed Dr Abhijit's main point of pessimistic.. we boast our digital growth and that leap frogging but the base technology is from West.. where is our innovation.. where is the steps taken for manufacturing industry based on our own innovation.. dream of every other Indian college student is to get to West and work.. recently I heard about a data that almost 40 percent of US start up have Indian brain involved.. we need to create that base infrastructure to stop our brains being enslaved by west and I think that was Dr Abhijit's point..but thanks for such a wonderful podcast.. I think you also should think about a roundtable with such brains like Smita Prakash did with these guys.. may be a good year end podcast..
Having your currency as the reserve currency of the world has its advantages. It allowed massive flow of investment at 0 cost to industry and start ups and research institutes for innovation in USA. We don't have that privilege and despite having such unfair advantage USA needs Indian brains to lead its innovation must tell you something if you keep your eyes and ears open. India won't stop Indian brains from moving west and whether those brains remain enslaved or become masters time will tell.

Getting two side perspective is much more enriching than just hearing a monologue. Great work👍
Brilliant discussion by Abhijit. He is right when he says three things most important for India to grow- 1)Basic Education, 2) Basic Healthcare, 3) Basic law and order.
Next podcast should be on Reservation and Donation System specifically in Healthcare and Brain Drain from India
💯💯💯💯💯 right 👍👍👍👍👍
No govt ,
justice at grassroots level. We fear, Noone will help us. Police, mla. All come only for votes. No work gets done
Reservation is the elephant in the room. And tbh, I don't think people will let it be removed. The only solution is to just end the monopoly of government companies because private players can't afford charity on investors' money like how a government can with taxpayers ' money.
Noo shits..only problem is....they are taxing people who work hard..
Tahts the reason people who works hard going to other countrues
NOW Congress wants reservations in private companies also. They have given declaration before the state elections.

Brutal honest conversation! We require this type of podcasts and other media discussion.
EACH & EVERY INDIAN MUST(& not 'should') WATCH THIS!!!! Thats why I have so much respect for Abhijit Iyer Mitra, THANK YOUUUUU Raj Samani for bringing him and having such a discussion with some good depth, PLEASE DO BRING HIM MOREEE IN FUTURE, he discloses so many perspectives as for ages we Indians have been made to look to just the light without seeing the real ground serious reasons of the darkness we are living in. India needs mainstream information provider to be someone like Abhijit, as he is one of those few who speaks of things in depth. Also agree to Raj samani on this 53:36 & 1:00:20, but this 1:02:53 is JUST SOOOOO TRUEEEEE, ON POINT 💯, the mass has become so jhalli on only hearing slogans , and some socalled perception of the leaders. I think Abhijit has spot on about rural part of India , everybody outside of gujrat has some stereotypes about Gujaratis that they are business minded people's, I'm from Gujarat here for an bus conductor & driver job they have graduation as criteria, I'm not able to understand for those job if you need graduation then what kind of graduates you're creating and the applications numbers are skyrocketing every year , India surely needs basic education, health care to grow otherwise it's difficult to complete with global trends

Exactly....
Exactly
Exactly, and I have seen people making opinions and generalising things on the basis of their narrow vision based on their experience with limited number of people in India they have been exposed to,and just on that basis they assume that they know about the whole country.
I can listen to this guy all day. Even when he gets something wrong, he provides enough thought fodder to last a weekend of research.

The point about opium war is true. This is how TATAs made money in early days (much before independence)
Amitav Ghosh has written lot of books on opium war.
I liked Abijit sir his knowledge and genuine approach.
AND Raj yr. Optimistic
Views.Thanks.
First time I've seen somebody go against what Abhijit has to say and also stand his ground. 👍
And Abhijit is totally fine with it..
All he was talking was rubbish only leapfroging , if that so ,how much per capita income of indian has leapfroged. ?
I love abhijit because we need people like to remind us our Fundamental problems which at least opposition is never going Address.

Raj, the only problem with us is that we Indians underestimate ourselves. I am presently living in Europe and trust me urban India is doing much better in all the 3 aspects mentioned in the podcast. Rural India is lacking behind but it will also rise and shine very soon.
You are right RAJ, Love you iam also from a village, iam was student in Lucknow, I will make my part for Indias growth
What a beautiful To and Fro dudes. I thoroughly enjoyed your conversation.
By the way, I tend to lean towards the optimistic side propounded by Raj.Indian people are intelligent and can absorb technology quickly. This gives me so much confidence about Indian future.❤ Yes the challenges are many as pointed out by Abhijeet.
Everything is good but u mean to say that only India absorbs technology quickly?😅?not any other people from the world??
印度人很聰明??? IQ只有82🤣
Being too optmistic is also a problem. We need to be critical while being hopeful at the same time.

Need more podcast like this in which actual good debate is there.
Abhijit Chavda bases his analysis on evidence unlike AIM with half truths & partial analysis like:
@@rka-truthalwayswins5127
And in the second Opium war, the French and the English were allied against China.
@@crmbackupcrmbackup988 Abhijit Chavda is more like a good scientists i.e. humble working with evidence & facts. AIM is over hyped despite his giving the perception that he is an expert on defense, geopolitics & what not!! He is kinda jack of all trades but ok to listen to in very small doses!!!!
@@rka-truthalwayswins5127 Yes exactly my words , The history plus science plus geopolitics combo he has deadly, hope he is put on think tanks and also on advisory boards .
Now it's my all time favourite podcast on this channel 😂❤️

Ambani, Mahindra , and garib bhikhari analogy to explain India's role in Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Superbly done. Explained in such a manner that any tier 4 5 city, village person can understand(aka The stunted population :p)
=====
Between 15 and 20 mins mark, Raj brings up 3 ways to get power
1. Encroachment (Russia currently IMO)
2. Debt Cycle (China IMO)
3. Mind-space (Pop Culture, US/western world)

Shocking brand new information
Around 20:00 Parsi, Jews and Hindus were profiting from Opium trade.

Projection about India:
In 2021, >$35000 household income,only 5Mil Family
In 2030, same criteria, 25Mil Family
More consumption power, more money
Only viable option is India for FDI for the world.
======
Macro Problems of India
- Regulatory, tax mechanism are in shambles.
- Most productive part of the population is the most heavily taxed part of the population.
- No incentive to going up the ladder; and make more money.
- Most unproductive part, most subsidy is applied there. (Farming IMO)
- Fiscally irresponsible, No upper limit on subsidies like EU states.
- Police to Population so low, also low quality
- Malnourished 45%, 33% stunting, cognitive stunting too.
- Yearning power >> Earning power
Raj you have wonderfully displayed your tacit grit in this exhilarating discussion. As an academically trained economist I appreciate your optimism on the growth prospects of our country which has reached Rostov's take off stage. In your next rendezvous with brilliant multifaceted analyst Abhijit, I would suggest that you lay stress on production and innovation, perhaps the two most important parameters for sustained growth and development. An in depth analysis of the nature of drawbacks, how it's being presently tackled and their future prospect.

Raj, your optimism wins my mind and heart. Its the reality we are facing since generations. Not the negative thoughts, which Iyer Sir is representing....

Why the current generation doesn't want to understand that we want balance all the three sector of an economy
1.agriculture is imp for food
2.manufacuring sector for final product
3.service sector for giving services
India main problem is not gdp india main problem is income inequality
Whole capitalism is going to transfer in socialism
As per economic cycle move
Abhijit is pursuing his PhD from King's College, London. He is not a Dr yet. You have some interesting points nevertheless.
Abhayjeet , I agree with your hypothesis about future of India
