I love this! Friendship is work! Especially when someone is really close to you!
I have been blessed to have a bff who has taught me the value of friendship. With her, I learned a deep friendship means loving every part of that person. This means not forgetting birthdays, save it in your phone calendar, but even remembering the friend’s kids/hubby birthday. Showing up in the small ways, if the friend says they love roasted chicken, and you pass by and see, you can buy and drop it off for them unexpectedly. It means knowing their love language and cultivating an atmosphere of safety and comfort. One where even if they can’t be vulnerable with anyone else, they feel ok being vulnerable with you.
You also have to have capacity for the kind of friendship the other person wants.
Even a husband can’t be your only close friend! You need that one friend that you can feel safe talking to, if you have marital concerns. Or if you need a feminine advice, as men are more logical.
Also while adult friendships are hard, they aren’t impossible. Folks shouldn’t fall for the whole “no new friends” thing too. In many cases, when you embrace intentionality in friendship, you can create a safe space in a few years, that you can’t with someone else that you may have known for decades.

I love when you related attachment styles to friendships. It’s so eminent even in our relationships and personally I’ve seen that play out. Understanding our attachment style makes it easy for us to understand eachother. As an avoidant person im listening and wanting to explain especially the accident friends one can tell the friend is avoidant

Thank you for this. You can not be too much for people that are for you, just find the right space. Also, survivor's guilt (guilt at having survived a traumatic event) is as real as feeling betrayed and resenting a person for coming out better on the other side. It is simply a mental condition that also takes time, prayer, and counselling. It is funny how all my life I always put my friends first almost even before family; my friends always came before my relationships. I actually would forgive my friends and not my partner in the past. Now, I am learning to make them both important in their dockets and extend grace to each..

@@LisaKusiimayou are welcome. Just to piggybank on that. This is guilt people feel for coming out or making it out of hopeless situations. A condition of persistent mental and emotional stress experienced by someone who has survived an incident in which others came out hurt or even died.

I was open to some friend of mine then and that’s where the relationship ended but I realized she wasn’t a friend from the start if she could react like that over me being honest to her. For now no female friends!!!! As females, we have a lot of drama in relationships

I personally drop many friends because they didn’t align with my goals. For me that became hard then I relocated and life became harder especially friendship wise. Personally im running alone. The friends I have are fewer now and more mature and older. And we are accountable for eachother. My attachment style is avoidant so I find it easy to walk away something I have to keep catching myself on

I Failed to make meaningful female friendships most are clingy stingy jealous i ended up having a small knit circle of 3 female friends and am good
