Adding to the pushing the bike backwards.
If you’re pushing it this way, you have no way of braking.
Solution: Leave it in gear & hold the clutch in to roll. Release the clutch to stop.🤙🏼

I was using the two hand method once and had a funny mistake.
Released the clutch to stop from rolling down the driveway and forgot I had left the key on... It bump started for a second and caused my first ever drop.

It's ok if the kickstand is on the frame, wouldn't do anything, but some bikes like ducati have the kickstand on the crankcase, you can brake it with this method. ALso it's better to put the lub inside the chain instead of outside

    Free hack/tip:
Dig around your closet and find an extra luggage strap, guitar strap, or anything like that. Fold it up flat and tuck it in your riding bag or jacket pocket, and when you get off the bike, loop it through your chin bar or chin strap and boom. Instant carry strap for your bucket. You can wear it crossbody and stuff your gloves in it, take off your jacket and drape it over the helmet too. Simple and extremely effective.
Personally, I use an old guitar strap and a neat carabiner and I just loop mine through the ratchet strap so the helmet hangs more level and less likely to drop a glove out.
It's such a simple and easy hack, and takes up almost no space. Really worth it.

Another greasy hands tip: Soak your hands in liquid dish soap and let it dry before starting the work. It soaks into your hands and helps prevent grease, oil, dirt, etc from getting into all the little spaces in your hands. Mind you with Covid 19, most people have nitrile or latex gloves around the house now - I highly recommend those over anything else.

Walking the bike: use the engine to walk the bike forward, it conserves energy.
Also during U turns on slopes, reverse downhill and use the engine to go uphill. Always use the clutch as the main stopping mechanism while reversing downhill, the front brake has very little bite on those conditions.

And just as in all walks of life, there are good and bad. Get two wheels! Bikers, real bikers that is, will always support another bike rider. QUICK TIP: If you don’t like walking your bike backwards out of parking spots…
When you pull into a spot, get off and lean the bike towards you like he does in this video to lube his chain, only get the both tires off the ground and spin the bike on the kickstand 180degrees towards the front of the bike and boom now you’re ready to ride out of the spot and it only took 2-4 seconds.
I’ve done this on sport bikes, dual sports, and dirt bikes. The easiest was on the heavier sport bikes.

When I had a cruiser I wasn’t able to use a motorcycle lift or paddock stands to lift rear end. So I used a ratchet strap and a car Jack. One hook wrapped around the left fork. The other hooked to kickstand while down. Tighten just enough so the kickstand can’t move. Then I used a car Jack and lifted from the opposite side on a sturdy part of frame. Lifted the bike just enough to get the rear tire off the ground so I could do rear maintenance.

Since I've started riding I learnt a few tricks to ease my life:
*glasses cleaning wipes* I buy them in bulk as they are cheap an effective. I stuck them everywhere from my backpacks to my documents. They cost next to nothing and are perfect to wipe your visor, googles, phone, headlamp or even hands or inside of your helmet as they contain alcohol so they kill germs and smell nice.
*Little bicycle tool kit* again something cheap and handy. They cost just around one or two pounds and work on almost all screws on your motorbike. Heck, bike is a bike. It's cheap I take it :)
*Strapping helmet to belt loop* works best on micrometric straps and on beltloopy pants :) Sometimes I use tensioner strap from my jacket but I prefer to use the belt loop. This works best if you need to carry second helmet for a short ride or you go on a short walk as helmet will pull your pants and wiggle around. All in all useful but not always

I have a 'hack' that works very well. When removing decals, heat them first with a hair dryer. You can warm the decals, they become soft, and will peel right off in one piece, and leave very little glue behind. (But do NOT use a heat-gun as it will damage the paint.) A hair dryer works wonders.

Good point about taking the gloves out of the helmet to air out at home, but is it really true that prolonged glove/helmet mating can deform the foam in the helmet? Surely the gloves don't impart that much force on the foam? I have a helmet case on my bike and the best place to put the gloves is in the helmet for storage while at work. I can imagine over a few years of doing that, that's a lot of hours. Should I store my gloves separately?

Wash your hands really well before putting on your gloves if you've been wrenching. If even a tiny speck of chain lube gets in a glove your hand will come out greasy for the rest of time. You always think eventually the glove will run out and the problem will be solved, but paradoxically it won't. I'm fairly sure motorcycle gloves start producing sticky substances themselves once they've gotten a taste of one.

for the chain, if you have one use the centre stand and lean it on the front wheel

it still works, the weight balance is very similar on any bike, i also recommend starting the bike and lifting it up in neutral, then popping it into gear after you lean it over.

Not a new rider. The kickstand hack is not bad but a nice stand for a few bucks is worth the money... everything is much easier. PS: You should always lubricate the chain on the inner surface and in the best case down at the rear sprocket.

one alternative to the glove issue, what i usually do when i try to use my phone without having to take the gloves off, what i do instead is only take off the thumb portion of the glove on my dominant hand, easy to take off and put back on. Though, this only works if your gloves allow it, and if you are a one handed phone user. over all, i think its better than yanking my hand off with the glove.

I always put my glove into my helmet... but I make sure to pull the chin straps down underneath them to help hold them in a little more.

The lubing of the chain you can also do with a pair of jack stand and solid bolts that fit where you would have the spools, poor man's spools and then just take me out job done

Instead of laundry detergent, use any type of cooking oil, wipe it off with a cloth and give a hand wash with hand washing liquid.
This way it is not harmful on your hands and do get rid off the toughest staines, works all the time.

It's easier to manoeuvre a bike by facing your headlights when pushing it backwards. It needs some getting used to but once you tackle it you will never go back to push the bike while standing on the side. This method may not work on bikes with handguards though. Keep the kickstand down and use the clutch for safety.

I was always told DONT put your gloves in your helmet. The Velcro will damage the lining and especial now, you run the risk of bacterial infecting your face guard.

Been riding for 8 years and only new to lube the chain on a paddock no on the side stand

I did the solo chain lube on the side stand before and actually landed my 210 kg motorcycle on top of me. I was lucky to just squeeze to the side, still getting properly mashed but not covered underneath. After that my back hurt for 3 days and my bike had a couple new scratches, chain still not lubed. 3/10 wouldn't try again.

licking Covid off you finger 👌🏽 hey at least you can get online and order a test kit. You can buy a product that is painted onto the fingertips making them touchy but have to top up when it wears off. Or buy gloves that are touch sensitive. Before Covid I’ve used my rouge and nose to operate my phone … makes you look so special! Kids love it hahahah.

From the oil on the hands, vegetable oil is great. it is much healthier for your hands than any kind of detergent.
