I was a happy, mild-mannered, well-adjusted kit-basher once. Then I discovered modellers' channels like this one. Of course, my bench-time dropped while mesmerised by modelling stuff. Your builds are eminently enjoyable. I have been doing what you do, for scratch items, for years now. But what enraptures me most is your paint technique. My skill with the airbrushonly began to rise once I learned to slow things down. Improvement in my paint effects came when I accepted there can be several layers to the process. Man, did the 'Wow!' factor go up. So it was with a huge smile I see how you do the same, but with a helluva lot more patience. No matter how good we think we are there's always something to learn. For that I thank you.
@@Scaleaton 14 August is coming so whu do not you make a Tempest MK II of Pakistan Air Force which was the first fighter of the country. Love from Pakistan.
I’m about to build a seafire for my dad (one from the ship my grandad served on), I’m following this fantastic video as a painting guide. Absolutely stunning work
Hi. My almost blind brother asked me to assemble this model that he received as a gift a long time ago. I hope to make it happen, but your video will definitely help me a lot. I have not done that since my 10 years ... 56 now. Thanks !
I have just bought the same model, if I could achieve 75% of what you achieved I would be more than happy. I have shaky hands now which makes it hard, but you have inspired me- absolutely stunning !
Dilute the paint 50 per cent and use a good brush, you won't go wrong. Never put much paint on brush. Better 5 light coats, then one heavy one. Take my small bit of advice and you will shine! Always mix paint with dark yellow or sand colour. May your chickens always have eggs.
Super build mate!....had the immense pleasure of meeting 3 of the surviving pilots of the Grey Nurse Squadron!.... Bobby Gibbes, Bruce Watson and Ted Sly...It was in an airshow at the Temora airport NSW. They keep in fly conditions one spit like this with the markings of Wing commander Bobby Gibbes..
I build models but not on this level. I enjoy it, very relaxing. I do not have all the fancy tools tho, I don't have a compressor spray thing, I only use paint brushes but don't know how to properly keep the brush lines out of my model. I enjoy watching your videos and hoping one day to pick up the properly equipment.
That was a beautiful piece of work. I have never seen airbrushing like that before but the result is awesome. I learned something from this guy! Thank you.
I really appreciate your work. No disrespect, but I wish you guys would do a lot of talking and explaining. It’s soothing and relaxing to hear people talk 👍
An absolute work of art. Truly superb job. I love your info bar on the left with paints and thinning mixes. I have this in my stash to do after I have made the mistakes on a range of 1/72 models first. Look forward to the next! Cheers and stay safe 😎
Awesome Build. There is a full size replica of this aircraft at the Darwin Aviation Museum in The Northern Territory Australia. But yours has mush more detail.
You're an incredible scale modeler, definitely some of the best work I've ever seen! I can't believe you're a "beginner" at video editing. It is excellent and you present in original ways that I've never encountered before, superb!
Very best model building video style with the side bar and overlays. I would love to know how. You are way beyond my level but I would have added chipping underside and prop. Bravo!
You sir are a terrific modeler. Id like to see you build the NF-104. It will take some modifications like wing extensions for wingtip thrusters as well as nose thrusters and the big rocket under the the tail. Then to skin the aircraft with thin foil burnish and polish for real aluminum shine. Just a request. And challenge. Thanx. Ill keep watching and hitting that like button.
I have a cheap airbrush/compressor and it does not have a pressure reduction feature on it. So it pumps pretty continuous at around 50 psi. Instead of using the airbrush, I use crushed chalk to simulate engine exhaust stains and gunpowder stains with that. It works ok, but I hope to get a different compressor soon. I'd like to be able to recreate those features with the airbrush.
Last build of 2017? Either way, it's been a great year! Maybe for 2018 you can do a tutorial on how to make such excellent videos (and then more of us can share our work)???
Yes it's the last video of 2017. UA-cam is great source for video editing tools tutorials. I'm quite a beginner in video editing. I'm still learning and I do not want to give wrong information. Maybe a few years later. Have a nice holiday!
Good Lord ! Thats Museum Quality ! My friend your skills and innovative techniques that bring weathering and ageing of the paint and, well, so many different area I would have to very close to the finished aircraft and try to write all the incredible detail and layering colors and textures, well, again, simple amazing work. I am so, VERY impressed. Thanks for sharing, big fan of your channel and of course your stunning work. All the best !
Even making it appear the plane was repainted, by first adding RAF roundels, then cover these with the "new" paint job, amazing, to say the least. Btw, are these kits so good that most parts instantly slot into place perfectly? I remember always struggling with getting the tail plane and rudder to be perpendicular, aligning the landing gear to be nicely symmectrical, and often having to make small corrections to get it about right. This video it seems almost like snap together, and just adding a bit of glue to seal the part in place.
An excellent build as always. I always worry when you do the white marbling because I think you've spoiled things but then it always turns out so well! An example for us all. Happy Christmas.
I am amazed at the quality of the build and master craftsman skills at work. Is there any way I can contact the builder directly? This particular aircraft was flown by my uncle during WW2 during his service with 457 squadron out of Borneo.
Sublime paintwork....simply stunning build....I feel like I’ve just been given a Christmas present by YT!! Merry Christmas to you and thanks for 2017....
pretty amazing how underratet your god like skills be on youtube :/ how Amazing work and the explosio drawings ar grait !. I trutly love your work . i learn mutch from you.
Hi!!! Thanks for your videos, very helpful, thanks for description. I'm have a question.... which is the difference between alcohol isopropilic and use thinner?? Sorry for my poor English. Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
An excellent series and a first rate instructional site: well done! If possible I'd like to know what the strength of your IPA is. I use 99% with pretty good results.
Hi! This one reminded me that it's been too long since I've built my last Spitfire 😊. And that was a 1:72nd scale one. I wonder how many hours of work it took you to finish this model... I usually spend between 40 to 50 hours for a fighter like this in1:48th scale. But my weathering is waaay less elaborate 😑. I have to try some very thinned paints like yours one day... Thanks, nicely done as always! 👍
Killer work man. Especially love the smokey paint effect on the wing. Quick question for ya if you don't mind. What do you think is the best brand for these scale models? Some say Tamiya, others go with Revell, italeri, Trumpeter. One of my favourite models was by Hasegawa. What do you think of the cheaper kits you can buy, manufactured by AirFix? Sounds low quality, but could be a good option for when you want to pay less for your models?! And what about Monogram kits? Or have they become Revell these days? Sorry that's a lot of questions, how about you tell me what you usually get in terms of which brand? Thanks for your time. I've got other questions for you, but I don't want to overwhelm you with so many right now. When I ask you what brand offers the best quality, I'm also asking about what brand of tools are the best? For example; the paints, the glue/cement, etc, etc?
When you used the watercolor silver pencil to do chipping did you use a wet or dry brush on it after - was this to smooth/fade the silver or where you simply brushing away excess pencil from the surface? Stunning build I have the same kit w/ different decals I just ordered the other day.
I love the bar on the left of the video that shows the images of the paints that you used, the air pressure and the mix ratio. Good work!
100% agreed ! - clearest way to tell us what you're using - definitely need to keep this feature.
Best from NZ.
Yes. I like this too. A step up from other videos. I just might subscribe.

Isnt this the most gorgeous channel about modelling in the whole youtube????? YES!!!!!!
This may sound odd, but I don't currently build models. However I find your videos incredibly relaxing and interesting to watch.
I agree
Me, too.
Not odd at all. It’s a perfect way to get into the hobby with a much greater understanding of what it is about and what to do.
Hi.

What’s with the jerks giving a thumbs down? I think your work is amazing, I put your channel on a play it all while I’m building for inspiration..
Your channel is up there with the best full builds on the tube!!
Best model building channel on the internets... thank you.
Oh man, heating and stretching the cotton swab shaft to make a tiny tube is brilliant!! I'm going to have to use that trick!
I love how you are combining your build with pictures from guide. Very nice! My favorite channel.
I’m not sure the kit manufacturer expects this mental level of detail from the average kit maker wow
EXCELLENT! Not only in your builds, but also in the way you prepare and present your channel. Bravo on the MkVIII

Truly superb! What skill and patience! Respect big time!! Thanks for sharing 😊
I just bought the Eduard Weekend version. Can't wait to start. My first model since I was a teenager.
Another excellent build. That is my favourite Spitfire. You did the very best rendition of it possible. Thank you.
That was a beautiful piece of work. I have never seen airbrushing like that before but the result is awesome. I learned something from this guy! Thank you.

Always admire your work with an airbrush👍
Good job your hands are there to show it's really 1/48.......i'd struggle to get that detail with 1/32!
You are a true artist!
Nice build. I love your airbrush work! Gave me a few good ideas.
Fantastic, looks like a 1/32 kit. Brilliant! Thank you for showing your excellent techniques!.
Only just found your work, well done sir, it’s great. And as someone new to airbrushing, your ratio and pressure guides are a superb help. Thank you

Fab quality work but I`m confused why the shark has four eyes and you sprayed a roundel on the wing then covered it over?
Awesome build! This is my favorite look of the Mk VIII. Your videos are always inspiring. Thank you! Hope you have a great Holiday Season.
