No I think he meant calling it “Taylor’s version” is a good marketing ploy (instead of “re-recorded” or “2021 remastered” for instance) because she and the fans have fought for Taylor to own it and this name now creates enthusiasm and excitement which is, marketingly, really clever 😉 ofc we all know marketing has never been the reason Taylor fought for
Exactly! I don't think re-recording them is a marketing ploy. I'm glad she's doing it and totally get why she'd want to own her own songs. I was referring to the fact that titling it "Taylor's Version" will make the fans more inclined to buy this version vs. the old one.
The whole point of the re-recordings is to own the masters of her songs, and therefore devalue her old releases. So she literally can't change the key, the instrumentation, or any other thing, or it defeats the entire purpose of the project. She's even pitching her more mature tone of voice up a little to mimic her teenage sound as much as possible, and hired back her original musicians and producer. We always knew it would be an exact replica of the original, that was never a question. The surprises in this era will be bonus tracks, visuals, aesthetics, and who knows what else, but the album tracks will be identical to the best of her abilities.
Love Story Taylor’s Version doesn’t have the same producer as the 2008 album. Old producer is Nathan Chapman, while producer for Taylor’s Version is Christopher Rowe. Background vocals in the 2008 album was done by Chapman, while Taylor’s Version has Paul Sidoti as the background vocals.
@@SilverStarOfTheNight Ah, thank you for the correction; I think I misread that somewhere :) Love that Paul does the background vocals on this version, he is a treasure.
@@LP1029LP no problem. There was confusion regarding the producer but the credits were recently fixed on spotify to add Christopher Rowe. Also, isn't Taylor and Paul's relationship so precious! Taylor mentioned that Paul is her mentor and Paul has always been vocal about how proud he is of Taylor.
Fun fact: We saw in the credits that Taylor recorded this version with her original crew that made the old version. her band. her band has been with her on tours since her start at 2006 so she brought them all together now to re-record.
Taylor's voice is stronger, deeper, and better than ever. Even if she tried to perform the song as close to the original, there will be differences and both versions are amazing!
I remember the day when she was just a 19-year old girl and I was a little kid and I was daydreaming about the day I met my Prince and I will sing this song at my wedding. Feel like yesterday
One of the most important reasons why Taylor can always be famous and never out of style is she stays true to herself and never forgets why she started all the time.
The album will include the songs of the deluxe version plus 8 unrecorded songs for a total of 26 (2x13) songs (twice as many as the original standard album). The "Taylor's Version" is to prevent confusion for buyers of streams or albums, so they get the right one. That is marketing; she could have just dated it 2021 for the same effect, but this emphasizes her argument that label contracts need to be amended to give the masters back to the artists.
I think it's genius of her to have kept the country rythm despite the new pop style she's been going for recently. Not changing the song entirely was a great decision. And I agree with Derrik about her vocals sounding more mature. I've always loved her vocals but they just sound so much better here, they took LS to a new level.
I remember seeing Taylor Swift for the first time in a perfume advertisement with the sound of wondestruck. What most caught my attention was its delicate beauty. After that day I became a super fan, and she changed my life forever. I wish I could have lived through previous ages. But now we can have that taste.
To be honest she has to keep it close to original that's the whole purpose but the smart business move was including unreleased songs...fans always want the stuff that almost made it there's a certain level of mystery regarding it...another brilliant move would be creating visuals for songs that deserved visuals like the way I loved you, speak now, enchanted, holy ground,I know places, wonderland, getaway car, idsb etc. Also fearless is the most awarded country album of all time and 1989 is the most awarded pop album of all time
Being able to relive all my favorite songs from Fearless all over again is bringing back so many memories. I can’t wait for April 9th to get here. Cheers from a swiftie since 08’ 💛💛
First reaction video I've seen come out for "Love Story" (Taylor's Version)! Awesome job, love your Taylor content!! React to All Too Well, you will be even more impressed by her songwriting :)
I bought the pre-release of this album, and as a bonus they sent a digital copy of Love Story. I was surprised at how close it sounded to the original. She doesn't even sound like she's stretching her high range.
I downloaded both versions of the song and hard-panned them Left and Right in my recording DAW. THE DRUMS ARE 100% the same in terms of execution. They are played 100% note for note. I find that very unlikely to happen if they were to re-record the drums. The actual mix of the drums sounds completely different though. Makes me think she still had the multitrack and stems of the original recordings and ended up using some of them, especially the drums, which is tedious and takes a lot of time. The drums sound SO MUCH BETTER with this new mix/master even though it seems to be the same original drums multitracks.
That's sweet John - great idea! Interesting note on the drums...I bet you're right on them using the stems. After a few times of listening to this now, the drums in the new version sound "punchier" to me than the old version, and this mix to me has a lot more space than the old one
you have no idea how satisfying it is to see you figure out the chords on the guitar during the song👌🏼 i would love to be able to do that but i don’t think i’m experienced enough

Some main differences I can hear is that Taylor had a teenager and more country tones in her 2008 vocals while the 2021 was more inclined into pop tones and has more depth, maturity, and breath in her voice. Also the lyrics delivery is kinda different: 2008 words seem very connected vs 2021 words has more cuts/pauses separating one word to the next. The instrumentals really sounded similar, but 2008 felt like a whole studio production while 2020 version was kinda stripped down a notch. But overall, I so love both versions. 🥰🥰🥰

Oh man, it is a great time to be a Swiftie. And we can always come here to worship her together HAHAHA I believe the whole point is to replace the originals with "Taylor's version" cause of the creative ownership wars, like people already said here. Just can't wait for the bonus tracks (and your reactions, of course!) :)
Other than music stations presumably, the only people truly buying albums these days are fans. I think the last physical album I bought was probably about 10 years ago and I've never bought an online version. So, marketing as Taylor's version is definitely somewhat of a ploy to lure in those fans who wouldn't maybe buy another copy without their heartstrings being particularly strung. But, I think it's also just important to her as an artist to have her name plastered on it as much as she possibly can & also by doing that highlighting the issue of music ownership to the rest of the world (none of my friends listen to her music willingly, they would definitely not know what this is about, but marketing it like this, might make them Google it). As far as the songs sounding exactly the same, I think that was to be expected. If she recorded them differently, you'd find people 'preferring the original' or going back and forth to compare them, still creating revenue for it. I would've loved it if she'd done two versions of the classics though - the near-exact copies & then the mature versions -, but perhaps she'll be playing the old songs a little bit more in lives and recorded performances where she'll switch them up a bit.
yeahh it's pretty similar to the original and im happy for that as the original is always the best version and im really excited for the unreleased songs

Hey Derrik! Are you up for a challenge? I enjoyed watching your videos and got really impressed of how easily you can pick up the guitar chords from the artists that you listen to. So, I'm wondering if maybe you can try the song called 'OUT LOUD' by Scarypoolparty and do a tutorial video. The guy who composed the song and played the guitar is named Alejandro Aranda and he's from American Idol. Even the judges - Lionel Ritchie, Luke Bryan and Katy Perry were blown away by his audition/performance. Can you try to do it for us, please?
As more of her re-recordings come out people really need to understand that they are re-recordings. So there won't be big difference because that is not the point. People want to hear the big difference but she want to own her music. If you want to hear her changing up the song listen to recording of her concerts because that is when she changes up songs. But these will not be that different and its really important for people to know that.
