    The fact that she's so attached to her memories and the past makes the fact that her music was stolen from her even sadder. Having to let go of them must have been really hard

      I can't immagine how happy, relieved and COMPLETED Taylor must feel now that she is finally able to re-record all her music and to re-own her memories, her stories, her art!!
      She is such a wonderful, grounded and honest person and deserves to own her masterpieces

    As an INFP, I find these extroverted sensing people so fascinating and sometimes difficult. I always appreciate how they naturally tend to focus on other people and group dynamics, but I also notice how they stretch themselves so thin so frequently and seem to suppress their own needs sometimes. People are always drawn to them and they’re good at being the center of attention a lot of the time, yet I can see through all that, that they can sometimes neglect their inner voice and as someone who lives inside my head and my inner voice, I want to be able to help them look more inward sometimes and advocate for themselves rather than everyone else. I have a very close family member who’s an EN/SFJ and I see this time and time again in their life. I see it in other family members and friends. It’s hard when I see these people making decisions to try and make everything “perfect” or whatever and then get disappointed when things don’t go their way or they end up suffering because they didn’t factor themselves in. We see you! We love you. See yourself and love yourself too, despite what everyone else says or does!

    If you saw her penmanship, you could actually tell that she is an artist. Its so unique. The way she draws those lines pretty much represents the way her music and songwriting goes: kinda messy-artsy, layered, need at least twice to comprehend yet recognisable. If there is this doctor's handwriting, then Taylor's handwriting could pretty much represents an artist's penmanship.

      I love it when two people who both know a lot about two things can fit them together like puzzle pieces. What you said makes so much sense! This makes so much sense now with her music too. Fans are constantly pointing out things like "that lyric points back to this one she wrote in 2009" or like how in Coney Island she points back to each of her relationships through lyrics she'd written in earlier songs. She also just seems to have a lot more lyric parallels than other artists.

    I'm glad that these videos are from the perspective of a fan and that you use her song lyrics as well as her interviews. I met a guy who thought that she had to be a thinker because she was so "calculated" and her music wasn't deep and emotional enough to be a feeler (he'd only heard her more famous ones). Thanks for this video. This was a really fascinating exploration of an underappreciated function. It's ironic, considering that introverted sensing has the reputation within the mbti community of being the most 'boring' function, when for me it has kind of become the function that I'm most fascinated by and in awe of. It seems to me that strong Si-users are able to replay the past in their minds in a way that it becomes more vivid and intense than the present moment is for most people. Si-users who are gifted in some form of creative expression often have an ability to conjure up and describe their own past with such vividness that it enables other people to vicariously experience their memories. To me it's like magic. The idea of being really grounded and anchored in your past, and being able to use it as a touchstone, a point of stability, really appeals to me. For me, though I think I have some Si, and can be prone to pretty intense bouts of nostalgia from time to time, the experience of revisiting the past is usually accompanied by a sense of loss, of things fading away into the darkness, of the past being unreclaimable. It manifests usually in a negative way: I'm haunted by the past, but not grounded, anchored, or comforted by it. Whereas for the strong Si-users, there is a sense that they keep the past with them, that it lives within them and continues to ground them in the present. I envy that. Si is definitely a superpower!

    as a fellow esfj holy crap i feel so validated because you describing taylor also described me to a t. this is why i love her lyrics so much. they're so specific, and so similiar to how i recall my own memories. it makes so much more sense now why i never resonated with the phrase "the past is in the past." to me the past is always in the present. where i come from and all my memories from the very different phases of my life mean so so much to me, and it's been years but i still constantly find myself thinking about all the little things from years ago, and how they made me into who i am today. it's honestly so hard to find someone who understands that because we're often dismissed as someone who just needs to "move on"
    it's true that esfj's are very literal and so into details and it's honestly made me a little insecure even though that is always what i've prefered to focus on and it's what i'm good at. i'm just always scared of being perceived as boring or shallow because i have a hard time zooming out and focusing on the big picture. like taylor, i plan my life 6 months at a time and that's the farthest i can go 😂
    taylor's creativity made me feel so so proud because it shows that everyone has their own way of expressing creativity, and everyone's creativeness is valid and can be impactful. the way taylor bounces from si to ne is honestly amazing and one of the many reasons why her songs are so iconic. it also made me realize that i need to develop my extraverted intuition lol (if thats even possible?)
    but circling back to the "not being able to forget".. it's so true how we can't just make things/people we don't wanna think about anymore disappear. i guess that's why it hurts a lot more to me when people forget me or when i drift apart from friends, and i always wonder why they can move on when i can't. turns out its probably the differences in our personality types haha.
    anyway, sorry for the essay lmao i just truly truly enjoyed this video and i learned a lot more about my personality type. thank you for the sensing love. we don't hear it very often 🥲

    I’m somewhere between ESFJ and ENFJ but always identified more with the ENFJ personality due to those sorts of things I’d see where ESFJs are described as “popular” and “people pleasing,” but this video was such a great deep-dive into exploring the mechanisms behind the sensing and intuitive types, I feel so much more comfortable as a possible ESFJ now!! Also Taylor’s my idol so that helps. About to go binge watch your vids on bestdressed now

    Many times people have written songs that were that were secretly about Taylor Swift (or seem to have been). I listened to twelve mentioned in an article, and it is so interesting to see the great variety of ways others have perceived her--especially John Mayer in "Paper Doll." I really really like how respectful you are when speaking about either of the functions and how they are or might be expressed. It really takes you out of the general stereotypes and it does make them seem exactly like what you call them:superpowers. You're really good at highlighting the strengths and benefits of a given function and you're free of any biases. Especially when it comes to Fe, I admit, as a Fi user I really strive to see the good in it but it's hard sometimes.

    Great video, thank you! I truly cannot imagine the future that far ahead, let alone plan for it.

  • @laerrus
    @laerrus 3 роки тому +1

    ENFJ here! I think Taylor is an ESFJ as well! I definitely need to appreciate Si more. Its very easy for me to say "the past is boring" and not think about it. I will think about how I can appreciate it more, especially because it may improve my relationship with my ISTJ dad. If I understand Si better maybe he will feel more understood and things will be more harmonious. Not that things are terrible but there's always room for improvement. I liked your song at the end by the way!

    • @EricWen
      @EricWen  3 роки тому

      Wow means so much reading this. Thank you for sharing! I agree, having better tools to understand where the other person is coming from can really help foster better connection and empathy. I've found knowing how to relate in a more "Si or Se or Fi, etc" way depending on the context has really helped my friendships, communication skills and personal happiness a lot.
      If you're an ENFJ, relating to Si is actually probably a little difficult because it's a super blindspot for ENFJ's. and Fe is actually a super blindspot for ISTJ's so it'd make sense if you accidentally pushed each other's buttons sometimes. Wish you the best!

    • @EricWen

      Actually infp’s also use introverted sensing! It’s their third function, so they don’t use it on full blast like an SJ personality type but it is an important way they like to bring things together! So cool you recognized that in yourself!

    • @annarankin5851
      @annarankin5851 3 роки тому +3

      @@EricWen Sure! To me, Harry's Fe definitely seems to be the most dominant part of him. Whether it's during interviews, concerts, or his interactions with stage crew, he is extremely engaged with anyone he's interacting with and has this ability to make everyone feel seen and included, which kind of explains why a lot of people find him to be charming without really trying. I think that Harry's Ni also comes into play a lot during his interviews and his song lyrics-- he speaks in metaphors a lot, definitely has a vision for the future, and often talks about the bigger picture of his life and values and the meaning of his success as a whole. Also, when he is asked to talk about the past he focuses on the meaning and results of his actions rather than how he experienced it. Unlike Taylor, his songs aren't grounded in the past and are often super vague and metaphorical (look up the Kiwi lyrics and music video lmao). I'm definitely not an expert or anything and this is probably a super generalized explanation but these are just my thoughts aha

    • @EricWen
      @EricWen  3 роки тому +2

      I really appreciate this SO much! I’ve definitely seen the Ni. Fe I haven’t seen as clearly or confidently yet, he is really good at being engaged but also is good at doing his own thing and he’s very private guarded and calm during his interviews so it’s hard (for me) to see clear confident signals! I think I need to see more though, if you have any interviews that stand out to you, would love to see them!
      I think him being tricky for me to read also might be influenced by him being British - his version of Fe or Fi might look diff than I’m expecting or the norms here in the states I’m used to.

    • @julieclare37
      @julieclare37 3 роки тому

      @@EricWen i definitely recommend reacting to his fine line interview with zane lowe, or even his interview with howard stern. i’ve been a fan since 2012 and his zane lowe interview i feel is the most insightful and the most detailed when it comes to harrys life. zane asks such great questions which i think is a huge reason why that interview stands out.

    • @julieclare37
      @julieclare37 3 роки тому +1

      but also the thing about harry is that i believe he is a very complex person. his stage personality is extremely engaging, confident, comedic, and he’s super energetic and very lively. on the other hand, in interviews he definitely seems more calm, collected, and private as he’s very good at answering questions without actually answering them, and ive heard that he’s a bit shy when meeting fans.
