@@Musicvidsetc in Philadelphia it did , not in Dallas because back then through the 60s 70s 80s and early part of the 90s , Washington was always Dallas's rival , not the Eagles the Eagles rivalry was the Giants.
@@johndolejsch5102 Well, tbh, and I say this as an Eagles fan, I don't think Cowboys fans who actually live in and around Dallas thought of the Eagles as their main rival in any era. To them Dallas' main rival was Washington. Many traditionalists may still think that today. However, in Philly, hatred of the Cowboys comes before all other rivalries for most fans and that started in the 60's w/ what Eagles fans perceived as a cheap shot on Timmy Brown by the Cowboys
So just to clarify - this wasn’t revenge against Tom Landry, it was revenge against Tex Schramm who more or less blackmailed some of the Cowboys regulars into crossing the picket line.
Ryan was one of the few coaches who treated Landry for the sanctimonious phony a lot of people knew him to be. There were plenty of other coaches who wanted to do something like this, but didn't have the backbone.
In the end, Buddy Ryan became a total failure. He never won a playoff game and the Giants and Redskins Bill Parcells and Joe Gibbs both got their playoff wins and Super Bowl wins. In the end, even though Buddy owned the Cowboys, the Cowboys had the last laugh when Jimmy Johnson was able to put the entire team together in 1992 and ended up winning 3 Super Bowls out of 4 years. When Buddy went to the Cardinals as head coach, the Cowboys were not the pushovers they once were. Except for one game in 1994 in Arizona, the Cowboys destroyed Buddy and by the end of the 1995, he was out of the league.
Yes! The classic "body bag" game the Eagles bragged about all season long afterwards. Stupid move on their part. Then the Redskins came to Philadelphia and destroyed them in the wild card game and Buddy Ryan got fired and they won the super bowl the next year. I think it's my favorite moment as a Redskins fan, even outside of the super bowl wins or the NFC Championship over Dallas in '83. (Nothing like shutting someone's mouth LIKE THAT forever!!)
@@heartsproductions9308 Yeah sure. Landry did NOT put in his starters to run up any score. He did so to get them reps to get ready for the next week. They had been out for a few weeks.

You are a legend Buddy Ryan!!! 🦅🦅🦅
That game really started the eagles-cowboys Rivalry
Buddy should've been in hall of fame
@@johndolejsch5102 The Eagles-Cowboys rivalry started in the late 1960's

The Eagles seize the means of production.
The good old days wow look how young chris Berman was
I am a huge Cowboy fan, but this is hilarious. Even though Landry was angry at the time. Landry laughed about it later..
I know Buddy had beaten Dallas in '86 and there was a famous OT upset of the LA Raiders, but this was when the legend of Buddy Ryan really started.

Not sure how they ran up the score in the previous game when Cowboys didn't even score in the 4th quarter 😂
LOOOOL Dallas was horrible this game, my god man!

He was only able to beat landry because the cowboys were on the decline when Ryan started coaching.
Buddy has a ring from the bears still.
Between Landry, Ryan, Berman, and Ax.....the only one with ANY class was Landry....PERIOD
True. Buddy Ryan can just dream of being half the man that Landry was.
Define class? Buddy was a man of respect.
Cowboys were an L for breaking the strike 🤷♂️
